Hmmm.... I've not had any first hand experience with anima tactics models but they look about the same scale as GW stuff (I've seen the models in packaging but not out of it)
They look about the same scale as the Malifaux stuff I've been doing and that's about 40k scale...

Archibald Jack wrote:Thanks for all the wicked feedback. I am pretty much going to pitch an adapted idea out there, and see how the dakkadakka braintrust twist it.
Basically, it's an evolution of the scavvie salvage point that Nicorex suggested, and as it stands in concept form looks like the following.
There are some supplemental rules this particular structure that make it worth the risk of travelling to the centre of the board.
Now for the fluff.
This particular shack belongs to the entrepenuer of the discarded, "Nico Rex". Nico is a bitter and disgraced former guilder from the world above the sump, he was ousted for misconduct and acting outside of the guilders code. Upon his ousting he retreated to the sump and set up the first salvage plant that employs local scavvies and unwanteds in the same manner a guilder employs gangers. Nico has setup filtration traps on all waste and material coming down through the Khaine's pillars from the upper levels, and has managed in his years to amass piles of materials, weapons and information on heads of gangs (and even a few heads from gangs) that have been disposed of, and thought to be irretrievable by the populus in the upper levels.
In turn, Nico has formed himself a lucrative and well protected salvage plant that branches from the pillar in the exact centre of the map. If a leader should get within 4 inches of the small copper bell on the front counter of "Joes Salvage", Nico is summoned from the floors below and will listen to the Leader's proposition. This proposition if successful, will see Nico and D3 of his salvagers mobilised against the enemy gang on the promise that they are carrying gear, and are in the employ of the guild member who is responsible for his ousting - should it fail however, Nico has seen through your Leader's poorly formed lie and will join the enemy gang in an attempt to silence your "filthy f**kin' mouth".
"Nico's proposition" comes in the form of a standard leadership test at the end of the engaging players turn. roll 2D6, on a roll equal or below the leaders leadership score Nico and D3 of his lads will join your force. On a score of more than the leaders leadership stat Nico (and his D3 salvagers) will realise you are trying to sail him up the river, and will join the other players army.
Nico is spawned on the gameboard behind the counter at "Joe's Salvage" (I think the name needs some work) his salvagers can be dropped anywhere on the game table provided it as at least 12 inches away from the opposing gang. Nico and his lads do not contribute to the 25% bottle test, and any wounds inflicted to them within 2" of another unit will not affect any nearby gangers - as the allied gang holds Nico and his lads in such poor repute.
So, thats the basis for the rules of "Nico's Proposition", obviously it requires some tweaking here and there, as well as some base stats for Nico and his boys. I want Nico's model to be sort of an underhive Al Swearengen with an eyepatch - he uses two laspistols, and will have the appropriate skills such as hipshooter and gunslinger that makes him a tour de force in close proxim. As for his lads I will tone down there stats and make them more juve-like then their boss.
I came up with a quick concept sketch for Nico, so if someone knows a good model to hack this type of visual feel let me know, it's a very particular feel sort of like a cowboy in a three piece wearing a waste disposal jacket. How's that for specific?
"Nico Rex"
As always feedback, input and suggestions are welcome.
You do know the only way I will let you use my name is if I supply the Mini's right?
Having a peek at the GW website, I was thinking KalJerico with a little work could be a good Nico. Just need to add a eye patch and replace the sword with a hammer(maul) since that is my normal carry HtH weapon. (see Pic) I am also know to carry my dual Berreta 9MM's and dual Walther P99's. (I am a Texan for God-Emperors sake)
(I made the armor and the Hammer I am wearing and using. (ohh thats me in the Kilt btw)
for My gang I was thinking some HouseDelique guys and a Esher gal.
Bulkey the Heavy (with autocannon)
Johnny Blackjaw (Shotgun) [both minis will need some hair and delique symbols removed]
Elissa the Accountant(She keeps the books and your balls) (pistol and knife)
All of these would have some conversion work.
Or I can try to make some totaly custom mini's
Ohh and mabye the place could be called " Apocs Salvage and Bait"

Depends how you define "freakishly oversized".
Well, they aren't so much freakishly oversized - more so lanky and expressive. I had my partner pick me up "Grey Rhodes" from the anima tactics line, he came with some card and tokens for which I have no use for (so if your interested drop me a pm) And he was quite a statesque character who would have towered over anyone in the sump.
But as you can see, some simple dremel and boxcutter action quickly knocked the old so and so down to a managable size.
Up an walking again and slowly taking form.
Now, I am aware that IG boots look awkwardly large, as does the fact the whole model is held together with bluetack, this will have to do for now as after sitting on my last tube and gluing my sock to my foot I am out until tomorrow.
As you can see on the picture on the left the proportions between boot and body, and foot on leg are a wee off. I will get around this by cutting the boot down a wee bit more, and ridging the pant leg to imply that Nico is wearing industrial waders (being a salvage man and all) And on the picture on the right you can see on the picture on the right Nico is sporting two holsters in a gunslingers config. I am not entirely sol on red, as I like the idea of Nico having a stronger visual resonance with the orange pillars that surround his salvage front.
But, I am quite confident he will form his own indentity and come together properly over the next few days.
If you're still looking for suitable minitures for your Nico Rex, try Hasslefree.
I will most likely attempt a Nico Mk.II and Mk.III in the near future, so thanks for the heads up on these guys. I love new foundry's as my love for GW miniatures these days is slowly waining.
You do know the only way I will let you use my name is if I supply the Mini's right?
Ahm, no I was unaware of that klause. I really should have read the legislation better.
Having a peek at the GW website, I was thinking KalJerico with a little work could be a good Nico...I am also know to carry my dual Berreta 9MM's and dual Walther P99's
Yah, he was going to be my first choice. But, he was out of stock locally so options were limited. I have my feelers out for a cheap Kal model, but alas with Necromunda sentimentality effects peoples resale values too often. Nice work on the dualies, the 9MM's in particular - although, part of me hopes you are known to carry them at respectable locations such a ranges, exhibitions and kids partys. Can't be too careful with kids.
I haven't really put any thought into Nicos' gang at all, once again GW's models are a little stiff and static, and when you consider the age of Necromunda they really do show their build age. The only real hesitation I'd have would be to to throw an autocannon into the mix. Primarily because Nico and his lads act as a "hail mary" tactic, to equalise a game or turn the tide - not to totally railroad the other guy into next week. Though there is merit to totally annihilating your opponents as Necroumunda players are few and far between in my neck of the woods you have to be civil. blergh.
As for their deployment I'd say that on the D3 Elissa 1-3, Johnny 4-5 and all three on a 6. A stubber would probably be a safer choice for the heavy in that respect.
If you gonna have a stab at Nico Rex and his lads keep me posted, as I'd be keen to see how they progress. " apoc's salvage and bait" is fine, joe's salvage was a Photoshop scribble, nothing more.
Also, did you lads make that fancy armour you lads are sporting from scratch? If so, kudos. kudos. The warhammer is a nice touch - it truly seems that Texas is the place to visit before you die with it's loose firearm laws, massive steaks, and teams of men to keep children scared and in line all day.

I am very Impressed with your Take on Nico, it looks like your plan will come out very nice.Mabye he should be blonde though.
I still think I will try my hand and making this limited gang.
I will have to order Kal and the other minis from GW, I poked around in my bits boxs but I think I may have given all my old Necro minis away. I ment the heavy should be carrying a stubber not a autocannon, my bad. But since the heavy is based on my friend Scott, he could just carry 2 autoguns.
On the other hand this is your gang. You can just build them however you want.
The suit I am wearing, my friends Bo, Scott and myself made in about 2 days (around 26 man hours all together). It is hand made from 12oz Leather covered with a 3oz leather with the alligator pattern. The front chest peice is actual allagator back. Johnny hit me as hard as he could all he did was brusie his knukles hahah.
I am always careful with my guns. Last thing I need is a 5-10 stretch or some random child buggen me.

True, I filed down his melon to reshape his hair later down the track.

Well, I want it to look like he is wearing waders, so big boots might work.
As you can see he is glued up and looking more inproportinate than ever. To be honest his wispy little shoulders kind of let the model down, especially considering the the nature of the sump - and the type of physiology required to survive. But, I will finish the conversion and then decide what to do with him. There is a still a fair bit of work ahead, so I may learn to love him yet.
I still think I will try my hand and making this limited gang...I will have to order Kal and the other minis from GW, I poked around in my bits boxs but I think I may have given all my old Necro minis away
Firstly, you just give necromunda figs away? I truly wish I had more friends of your calibre. Keep me posted on the progress of of Nico Rex and his gang, as I'd love to see this character become a cult figure amongst the dakkdakk Imunda and Necromunda players.
As I said before this figure will do for now, but he will be replaced by the perfect one, which I am yet to find - so far I have checked heresey, reaper as well as handful of other forges, and still the exact fig for the job evades me. I need a basic A gunslingers pose, wearing a heavy jacket (like a firemans coat or greasecoat) with either dualies or a single gun drawn. Perhaps I am being too picky, anyway I'll definately put together a Johnny Blackjaw for myself, dual stubbers sound uber overkill and so far that has been my flavour of the year. The others wil follow suit as soon as I get my feelers out for other forges that have the poifect figs.
Anyways, stay tuned for updates shortly.

Dammit, I should have posed the same question a week ago and I'd be fine. Thank you taintedmess for the comprehensive list, I really like the work that privateer press put out. Is it compliant with GW schtuff? As in the same sort of scale.
What TaintedMess said. Check out the Iron Kingdoms range from Privateer Press.
Thanks chief, I am checking out privateer press for some future additions. You don't know if Rackham do metal minaitures by chance?
You might want to get your hands on the Ganger girl, very curious to see what you would do to that model.
From memory Acidwap is sorting out one of those for his chapter, so I will give here a looksey once she gets stateside.
Most definately 100% the coolest thread I have seen in at least a month.
Thanks, it's little pep comments like this that keep me modelling and doing interesting project like work - as opposed to killing time with PC games and whatnot.
Oh, and a small update on Nico, as you may be aware the "Grey Rhodes" figure has very anime like mad professor hair, and I envisioned Nico having a Al Swearengen type look to himself so I had to sculpt a new hair piece, which was a first and very trialing to begin with.
It came out a little longer than predicted, but I kind of went with it. He looks very much like a shaggy haired wild man. Poifect! Also, for anyone with plans to do GS hair, or drapery read whatwhat's tutorial in the tutorial section - it helps immensely.
Anyways, I needs to get back to work, but stay tuned for updates.

Rackham used to do some really nice metal stuff but its been a good long time since i've picked any of there stuff up all there new AT-43 stuff appears to be in some form plastic (soft some what bendy stuff if reports are correct)
*edit* having just had a poke around there site it looks like they've moved hole scale over to the bendy plastic pre-painted mins and no longer do the metals so if your after any your best bet is probably a retailer that happens to have some stock left over or ebay.
If you are looking at them for potential gang members I would be wary of scale there a bit bigger but smaller proportioned than GWs heroic scale.

WHat about adding some leather shoulderpads or somthing for Nico?
True, I think that'd go a long ways to fill in his frame. Although, with the list tainted gave me a few posts before I'd be pretty keen to convert a lieutenant from Warmachine - something about privateer press' models, they just seem so pimpnickle.
Wow, that hair's amazing. You really got the look nailed there!
As Luna and Ultra touched on it's like Solid Snake meets Pliskin meets Macgyver, or as know in the industry an "Uber mullet".
Unfortunately, I need to take a break from this character based on some new additions that arrived in the mail today:
Look at the scale! Towering gargantua! I am pretty frickin excited, but I will need to finish my website before I can play with mah new toys. Siiiigh. That and look for a new apartment...double siiigh.
