Pumba boars or not, I think they are great models and a ginormous update from previous ones...

The trolls on the other hand.... well.... bloody awsome! Those models alone are enough to make me start my OnG up again... I wonder if they will release stone strolls too.

Didn't read the rest of the thread... how many people are planning to use the boars for TWC?

Oh man, those new boars are so cool they're bringing me out of lurk mode!

I think the faces will look better when painted the same color as the rest of the boar, but I think they look GREAT. Very obviously based off of real boars, but with a stylized, cartoonish look that is still mean and fits well with the orks.

I'm sure it's already been thought of by a bout a dozen people, but I'm going to add a harnness with big shootas, rokkit engines, and bionics and make flying pig "bikers" for 40k.

I like the trolls as well -the same cartoonish yet mean style, but they don't excite me nearly as much as the boar boyz - the dynamic posing is just great.

With some (ok a lot) of elbow grease, the Troll holding his axe up could be converted into one kick ass Ork Warboss, I might just make arrangements for one of these, if it turns as I imagine it will probably go to my shelf of fame (only 3 models there right now).

The next question is will the boars be on a seperate sprue, and will that sprue be put in with the orc hariot.

I suspect with the bizzaro world stupidity of the studio, the answer will be no.

The sprues are up already at the GW site, and you're right, the answer is no.

The boar legs and all the Orc bits are on one sprue, with the heads and bodies separated from them. The clever thing to do would have been to have two boar sprues and cram the riders/weapons onto a single sprue, or, at least, have a boar-only sprue, a boar & weapons sprue and then a rider sprue, that way 'boar + weapons' becomes a generic Orc weapon sprue that can be in the Chariot and the Boar Boyz boxes.

But no. That'd be logical.

I do like those trolls, But I hope there'll be some more bits in the box.
It'd be a shame if such excellent plastic kits are let down by a lack of posing, customisation.

Hmm the river troll would be one of the best monster kits GW produced , not to mention its in plastic. From what i can see , i give it 9/10

The boar boys... not too sure , the boars look rather tame. But the sculpts are alright with decent pose. 7/10 though price is fair.
The rider... very dissapointed. Their shoulder are all shriveled up , they lack the usual Orc recklessness. 5/10

It figures... the first troll models I would consider buying, right on the heels of an update that takes them out of my Beastmen army.

Trolls do look brilliant, very nice concepts. Hands are a bit way to big but a bit of GS can fix that... again great models and I take my hat off to GW by not holding back in experimenting new concepts.

I wish I could think of a way to working the troll models into a 40k Ork army. I really love the sculpts but not sure how to stretch the fluff that far. I could see Tau auxiliaries, but then they'd be, you know... Tau.

Of course by doing it this way, they can get you to buy both the plastic chariot, a new Boar boys box, and convert them yourself. Got to be a win win to suits at GW.

Oh and I'm at the Meh to facepalm stage for the Boars, but I am getting the Trolls. Not even sure why, just love the look. I might save them in the forlorn hope Warhammer Quest does one day come back as a special release.

I dig both kits. Trolls will have a ton of conversion opportunities. May use the boars from the Orc kit for a few of my beastmen chariots that aren't built yet.

I still agree, if you don't like how someone did a particular movie then put up or shut up. Opinions are like what?

BTW directing would give you more creative input on a movie. Produces provide money so get to have their say but usually let the directors do their thing.

It also bugs me that people say "those look bad" ... that isn't even a half assed critique. If you say "I don't like that" in any media class or critique then you sir are the one that looks like an idiot.

Opinions would be the thing that puts (or does not put) money in the bank mate. If enough people say 'I don't like the way the boars look' then less models get sold.

The idea that you have to be a sculptor to critique a miniature is idle tosh. The people correctly fit to critique the miniatures are the ones assembled around you, the potential customers.

I don't have to be an automotive engineer to decide if I do or don't like a car, I just have to be a potential driver.

Nope not saying I like every model from GW. I am saying that if I don't like a model from GW I either convert/GS one I do like.

I rarely take the effort to get on a board to just say "I don't like that". If I don't like something then I will explain why I don't instead of adding useless lines to an already cluttered post. Maybe I am just fed up with forums and having to sift through tons of useless information to get to the good stuff.
