Sorry, that was rude of me!!
I've seen these wolves before, i really like the wolf with the eye patch, size wise, I think they're a little small to carry the weight of a Space marine, but thanks any way.

Illness over Christmas and a new job in the new year has belayed the completion of the these Terminator Armoured marines, but finally....................................

The battle was not going according to plan, many battle brothers lay on the field of battle, and more than a few would never fight again. He could feel that regardless of the resolve of his brothers the enemy would soon overrun their position.
From just behind his position he thought he heard the sound of heavy footsteps, but due to the smoke of battle he was unable to see who, if anyone was approaching. The firing from their front was intensifying, troops of the enemy were moving with more confidence, as the suppressive fire from his few remaining brothers now proving insufficient to prevent their movement, any time now they would charge his position, and this time he knew they would not hold.
A howling scream comes from the enemy and their troops surge forward, many are cut down but still they advance, to his left another of his battle brothers is cut down, the Lycan are just too few, and the enemy too many. To his front a group of 50 warriors charge him just as his bolter slammed down on the empty chamber, steeling himself to sell his life dearly, he draws his chain sword.
From behind comes a roar like prolonged thunder ripping through the air, the troops to his front vanish in a cloud of smoke and blood. Every where he looks the enemy charge falters as they are cut down by a stream of heavy fire that he knows his squad could no longer provide.
From behind him bellows a voice from the time of legend, “well done, you and your bothers have achieved wonders, but Buliwyf thought it was about time that we showed this scum the true strength of the Lycan, come lets the bring the fight to this curr”.
Out of the smoke a hazy figure appears, bulkier and taller than any of the Power Armoured marines, with heavy foot steps charging towards the enemy Hyglak Quarrelsome appears in the full splendour of his ancient Terminator Armour, advancing beside him are the reminder of his squad of Terminator armoured marines the ‘Thor Hammers’, each a hero of the chapter in their own right.

Hi and thanks.
The cyclone ML is not available on the Space Wolf Terminator sprue, so when I constructed these figures it was not option.
I have since acquired one which I plan to use with the Wolf Guard that's in support of a Long Fang Squad, but that's for the future.

Love the drum mag on the Storm Bolter.

The Freehand and the Blue on the rim of the shoulderpad of the assault Cannon termie is really wild. The blue almost glows.

Great work.

Only one thing bugging me, and it could be the angle of the pic is the face of the 1st TH termies somethng looks a bit 'off'... again, not sure, could be the angle of the pic.

Now that several squads have been complete, I need some armoured support.

So here the question beyond the standard, Rhino/Razonback Transport, which of the vehicle available would best suit this Army.

I'm currently working on a Rhino/Razonback and a Auocannon/las Preditor, picture to be posted end week.

Just found this thread and subscribed, your GS work and painting skills are amazing. The moment I saw the power sword on your first wolf guard I knew you were going to show us some great models.

The choice of helmet for your Wolf Priest was inspired, before you painted it I thought you were aiming for a slightly chaotic look for him, but the moment you did the black armour/bone helmet I could see why you chose it.

Wow, enough fanboi for now!

I'm a Space Wolf player myself, and I cannot stress how much you should be using drop pods. Getting only half the army down on turn 1 is a worrying proposition, but if you're into combat before the whole army can shoot you to pieces you'll be fine. Taking drop pods for units that don't need them can also be a good move, as then you can throw down empty drop pods later to mess with objectives and tie up enemy units.

I have 1 Razorback for my Wolf Lord and his retinue, as I feel twin linked Heavy Bolters add just that extra bit of punch to the shooting before he powers into them and does some damage. Plus it's fun to send him careening across the landscape whilst the rest of the army thunders down around the enemy, should they worry about the wolves in their faces or the scary unit of doom flying around the side of the board, aiming for their flank

I'd love to see what you've done with your drop pod since the first painting. It is beautifully done, but it had a very 'fresh off the assembly line' look, it needs lots of little honours, names scratched into the surface, maybe a burn mark or two.

Keep up the good work and don't let the dog bite your painting hand!

As a second thought, your army is low on men and can't have too many casualties per battle, so a war of attrition won't work for you. If drop pods aren't your cup of tea, then it's probably best to aim for Rhino spam based around a Land Raider for your Terminators. That way more of your guys will get where they need to go. Rhinos are so easy to repair that it can be done mid-battle, so they would be the workhorse of your chapter where the screaming death from the skies option didn't suit

Bishopgore - thanks for you praise and comments.

As for the Drop-pods
I'm not too keen on the model, after doing just the one I'd had enough.
I've abandoned it for the time being, scorch marks added, but after the transfer fell off I sort of lost interest. I've since received some Micro Set that should fix that problem, so I'll look into finishing this one over the weekend.

I've not had too much success with it, probably do to my poor playing style.
Still I can only get better, what's the ideal number?

I have found the best tactic for Space Wolves in general is to get close soften up with the guns then charge in, or let them charge you (gotta love the counter charge rule) Space Wolves are not out and out assault army like the blood angels and do not have many of the blood angels rules +1 initiative on charge etc. THey do well in a fight but you want to be doing an up close firefight where the guns weaken the enemy for the decisive charge. Space Wolves only really have weight of attacks in their favour over the vanilla marines, or maybe its how I use them. I am always happy to learn new tactics so feel free to pass me a SW tactica... Hi-jack over

Go for 3 drop pods, atleast 2 will show up on turn 1 and you can set them all up differently too, have a deathwind for example or drop an empty one or 2 to mess with the enemy.

I use them with 2 terminator squads equipped with ass cannons or heavy flamers drop them near a squad and shoot the nonsense out of them (you can use the weapons on the pod to target something else so missile launcher could be used to hit rear armour of nearby tank for example) Atleast the terminators have a hope of weathering the gunfire that they will attract when they materialise right in front of the enemy and try to take the heat off of your troops who will be barrelling forward.

The 3rd is dropped with grey huinters to take objectives or support in a firefight.

Its a bummer that you cant assault from a drop pod when it lands

Personally i like rhinos because at the worst you can tank shock or ram other vehicles with them for fun.... thay also double as mobile cover....

Razorbacks are good but are a bit flimsy mine got blown to bits by DE who got first turn, i struggled for mobility, but it took the heat off the rhino's

If you are going for the a dedicated tank shooty thing go for vindicators or predators as the extra point or 2 of armour can make a big difference. Vindicators are short ranged but pack a mean strength 10 template blast.

Again just watch out for DE using night shields as it reduces all ranged attacks by 6" pesky damned DE

Thanks for your comments so far.

As promised I did manage to spend some time on that Drop pod, more importantly I even managed to get a game in using it.

On it's own the effect is limit but, I found that if I drop it behind the enemy where there's some cover , the terminator in it do survive reasonable well until help arrives, and they certainly disrupts the enemies battle plan.
Taking on board dantay_xv comments looks like I'm going to have to get 2 more of the bl**dly thinks to really get some benefit out of them.

Any more words of wisdom on how to use them would help.

If you can spare the points I would fit a cyclone on your thunderhammer/ storm shield guy 3+ invulnerable save and 2 S8 shots per turn on the move.... can hekp provide a bit of covering fire or try to hit a tank if nothings in range

The chant of the squad whilst inside the Rhino as battle dawns

Whether it storms or snows, whether the sun smiles upon us,
The day glowing hot, or the freezing of night.
Dusty are our faces, but joyful are our minds,Yes, our minds
Our Rhino rushes past in the Hellstorm

With thundering engines, fast as lightning,
Towards the enemy, sheltered in the Rhino,
Ahead with our comrades, in battle we stand,
That's how we thrust deep into the enemy ranks.

When before us hostile ranks appear,
We step on the gas and rush to the enemy.
Ha, what do our lives matter to the Emperor?
To die for chapter is our highest honour.

With barriers and mines the foe blocks our path,
We laugh about it and don't drive upon them.
And if cannons threaten before us, hidden in the Brown mud,
We find ways that no one else has found.

If one day we're deserted by treacherous luck,
And we don't return home anymore,
If a deadly bullet hits us, and fate calls us away,
Then the rhino shall become our iron grave.
