Not really. Barring further communication from Codex, this thread is about how mad/disappointed you are or why others should be more/less mad/disappointed.

Apologies if someone has already mentioned this, but I got an email from Codex pictures today saying that they were aiming to ship them out next week.

I saw my postie trudging through 6" of snow this afternoon delivering letters, poor thing will have to strike next week to rest!

Good on him, I didn't even try to make it to work.

Unless the DVD's are being made in Scotland or Northern Wales I actually can't see the weather delaying this too badly.

The Airports are shut, but that wouldn't stop Brits getting them unless they are doing an all or nothing release?

Keeping an eye on the dates though, not sure how long the credit card company will hang on if we have to recover the money back say if they went under.

In the same state as UK traffic, f'd up by snow. But since the op stated this announcement was up last friday, when there was only snow in limited parts of the country and it wasn't causing too many problems, I can't see how that is the issue.

Hi mate reference your last im a Postman in england myself. All i can say is there is a major shake up happening in Delivery Systems and Methods at the minute which frankley couldn't have come at a worse time being so close to Xmas an all, and if that wasn't bad enough a big freeze has hit the UK and we are expected alot of bad weather and the UK isnt equipped for this weather because it hardly happens.
The only thing i can think of how this relates to Codex pictures problem is that when the movie is released people who chose standard delivery and recorded delivery may recieve an extra day on top of their wait, any one who chose alternative delivery methods shouldn't be affected. I dont actually know, but i dont think Royal Mail would be handling this release due to their track record.

Like all of you im absolutely livid about this situation but im going to try and squeeze some info out of Royal Mail to see how much they are involved with codex pictures. Ill keep ya posted with what i can find out

Disappointing yes but heck the way I see it, I've been waiting 12 years for this blooming movie, I'm sure another week won't make much odds.

My only real annoyance is the lack of communication in my case, I have not even received the first email. It is a real shame for a first time production but hey I guess every new venture has its teething problems.

By the wording in their e-mials it would appear they haven't even shipped the dvds yet hence I can't imagine it's a problem with post.

Well it takes all the fun out of life if you are prepared for everything, hence the British attitude to be prepared for nothing.

The blog specifically says "a production problem outside of their control." So it has nothing to do with distribution, I doubt you'll find much out from Royal Mail as a result btw.

Well, we apparently have proof that they did, in fact, deliberately hold off the announcement of a delay because it was made known they had prior knowledge on Friday at least. I agree that it's wrong to suggest they did that just to piss people off, but I don't really see his post as a serious accusation and more like "This is so frustrating, it FEELS like they did it just to screw us!"

Manchu wrote:Also, Sid, calling out a mod in a post where you admit to jumping into a thread, riling people up, and then disappearing (what the cool kids call trolling) is less than a good idea.

I was disagreeing with you. How is that "calling you out"? :\

As far as the "cool kids" go, I really don't care what they think because they'd call anything "trolling". I've been on Dakka and internet forums for years, and in my experience most people will accuse someone of "trolling" a thread simply for disagreeing with their opinion. "I'm right, you're wrong, and if you think I'm wrong you're an obvious troll."

The only reason you have a case in this thread is because I flat-out admitted to it, and even then I really don't see anything all that wrong with what I said. So I didn't pre-order the collector's edition, which means I can't comment on this situation at all? I'm not allowed to have an opinion on it because it didn't affect me directly? This kind of thing could affect me in the future if they do a regular release, since I was holding out on ordering the film until they offered one, and being a 40k nerd like everyone else here I think gives me enough of a reason to take an interest in this thread regardless.

If trolling is what you're worried about then I'd be more interested in TBD and the others. At least when I posted I didn't break the vaulted Rule #1 and flame-bait people by calling them "nerd-ragers" and "whiners".

ANYWAY, so that this post is actually more on-topic, I noticed that GW posted a Facebook status saying that orders may be delayed due to weather (don't feel like copy-pasting the whole thing so if you follow them on FB you can go see yourself). And before someone points it out to me, I'm not an idiot, I know Codex =/= GW, but if indeed this was just a complication caused by bad weather then they probably would have said so.

Still doesn't excuse them from not saying something earlier, when they knew about it. Once again, yeah I get that they were waiting until they were sure they couldn't fix the "problem", but that doesn't make a lot of sense if you think about it. Let people know there is a problem first (they'll be disappointed either way, might as well do it earlier to avoid...well, the added frustration of being told at the last minute), and then if you CAN fix it before the deadline then update people later. If not then people knew what to expect, right?

That's a great line, especially in-context! Surely you understand that nipping into a room full of angry people just to say "better you than me, mates" is irritating whether or not you admit that it's irritating? Also, please note that no disciplinary action was actually taken against you.

"Better you than me"? Now you're putting words in my mouth.

I did jokingly say "They got your money why do they care" or some crap like that to Ouze, but he didn't seem too bothered by it. And like I said I'm on their side, I'm not pointing at them and going "HA HA!". Not trying to anyway.

See, none of this bothers me at all. I happily gave them my money and completely forgot that I ordered it. Honestly I wouldn't have had any idea it was supposed to be at my door soon if I hadn't seen this thread, so I'm not really sure if I should be angry at the delay or not.

I suppose as long as it shows up eventually I'll be moderately neutral about the whole experience.

Thanks,

Update from the Ultramarines movie website today:

We regret to tell you that we are not yet in a position to confirm a dispatch date for Ultramarines, although we still anticipate shipping to commence next week. Both the Codex team and our suppliers are continuing to work flat out to make this happen.

Some of you waiting for your order have asked us what the problem is. We would like to reassure you the issue is not with the movie itself, but with one of the other components of the collector’s set.

Once more, please accept our sincere apologies for the delay. We will posting further updates on www.ultramarinesthemovie.com and emailing all existing customers as soon as we have more news.

At least they had a release date, Black Mesa Source (remake of half life 1 with amazing graphics) has been in progress for like 6 years, and their supposed "release date" was last year, and it never came out. I really want to beat the snot out of all those developers, but that might delay the game for 40,000 years, at which point the eldar still steal the mod and turn it into another starcraft game that I don't give a crap about.

I love how I just ranted about something completely unrelated to Ultramarines the movie. That being said, I almost shot my monitor like Elvis Presley shot his TV with a .357 when I got the 40k movie email.

Of course. Let's start an argument about which of our respective countries is better. Because no-one can predict where that would end.

There's a big difference between "a big freeze"(y'know...lots of snow melting from the day prior which then refreezes at night, causing travel to be absurdly dangerous if not careful) and just 1 inch of snow

He's saying that the British Post system itself is having a "major shake-up happening" in how they do deliveries.

Hard to excuse the UK not being prepaired for the snow it's happened every year for the last 3 years and happened almost every other year before that

I think the snow is fun.

Anyhow if the DVD doesn't ship this week it will be held up by general Christmas post too.

We love what we love. Reason does not enter into it. In many ways, unwise love is the truest love. Anyone can love a thing because. That's as easy as putting a penny in your pocket. But to love something despite. To know the flaws and love them too. That is rare and pure and perfect.
