There is a reason why a midlife crisis exists. Go buy a motorcycle and pick a fight for no reason, relive those golden years.
And just ignore the shame of your kids.

Oddly enough I've had my eye on a Harley for a year or so now...picking a fight well be with the Missus when I pull up on it...
As for my kids...I think they're the ones trying to ignore me now...it's not easy having a Dad who still acts like he's a teenager at times.

Really, I'm not surprised about the teenager part considering a lot the younger Dakkanauts seem to like talking you, then again it might be just the "pedo" generation thing too.

How old are they? I'm curious....

My Daughter is almost 12 (though she seems to be labouring under the idea shes 20)
My Son is almost 10.

Twelve and already a Valentine dance, WTH? My first dance/party was at age 16......

@ Cheescat...Well you know..I try to stay "hip and with it."...

@ Silly..Yeah,I wasn't exactly thrilled about the idea of my "little girl" going to a dance.
But...I'm progresive...(to an extent)..and Figured since the event was well chaporoned and taking place at school...I'd let her go...plus I knew her Brother was going to be there as well..and...I really do try not to "Bubble wrap" my kids.

@ MDS..

I really belive part of my Sons love of rock and roll is that he's been listening to me belt out tunes since he was born, even when he was a baby he'd sit and listen to me play the guitar and bang his little head...

The "pedo" referance comes from the OPs original poll...just a joke.

I do tend to be strict with my kids at times...there are difinate rules they have to follow...and I have spanked them both on occasion...but...I also see my job as a parent as more than "protecting and disciplining" my kids...I also see a need to prepare them for life outside of the nest,so I don't try to prevent them from encoutering bumps and bruises along the way...I think kids need to learn that life holds hardships and that not everything is going to go the way they expect it to.

I must admit the paedo and creep reference has pissed me off somewhat.
If I could be arsed I'd report the OP as the tosser that he deserves, but I can't be arsed. Too much to do, I've got my rain mac to iron for tomorrows school run.

If I am not in my room, is it still my room?

...And Gummy bears to purchase too.

Joking aside,I agree ..the Pedo/Creep reference was ridiculous ...which is why...with a bit of help from Cheesecat..I attempted to make a fething mockery of it.

The proper thing to yell out in this situation is "FREEBIRD".

Ahh...but there in lies the dig,the little bugger didn't conform to any predisposed norm...He didn't yell for Freebird (which would have been funny as well) and he didn't yell for ...well whatever the other kids were yelling for....he yelled for what he wanted...and everyone else at the dances opinions be damned.

Why don't you have the "Being a dumb private" option in the 20+ bracket?

Love the world domination committee-thing. Sadly that committee was disbanded due to lack of funding. Senator Mommy and Speaker of the House Daddy cut their budget.

In your base, ignoring your logic.

I remember discovering my dad's CD's. Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, Guns and Roses... compared to the music my mom listened to it was better athough the Temptations are a good band, and the Commodores, and Garth Brooks, and 70's stuff. My grandpa reminds me of the days he had to walk up both sides of a hill on the way to school at six in the morning while it was snowing and the temperature was 100 degrees.

My grandpa also blew up his dad's car back in the day.

I just love the fact that silly and scrazza are talking about skanking, totally different meanings which allows it to be fething hilarious.
