Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?

I think Vampires as a species would still exist, as a magical entity no. But they could simply hide in human society, they're just weaker than they used to be.

So undead stuff is done through technology, not magic really.

Sylvania probably survived, maybe even becoming a more "normal" province, despite having suffered heavily during the last cataclysm. This means that it is poorly inhabited, and people are still scared to go there. This means that the Vampire nobility can still hide there. Having set up their own companies, creating necrotechnologies and such.

They still bide to get their former glory back, but not in the sense of turned everybody undead. I can even imagine that the Carstein look back on their past with a sense of...well I can imagine that they believe that those stories about actual undead and evil are over exaggerated propaganda from the other companies.

By the way, we could even expand towards the New World, Lustria... I can imagine that the Vampire Coast and Skeggi could have become landing posts of a new era of colonialism. This could be a place where there still is some magic (or maybe not), but even if there is or isnt, it's filled with resources (wood, gold, etc.)

I can imagine the Norse trying to become a major power by it's colony there. Of course the Republic and Empire try to gain a foothold there as well. Not knowing about the native population...

By the way, thought you might dig this. :-)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Here some Lexicanum info on the Empire's Knightly Orders. Here are the provinces.

I would imagine that the Knightly Orders and the noble families of those provinces have become companies over the years/centuries. Knightly Orders in a very self-sufficient mercenary kinda way, whilst the companies that used to be the noble houses of the provinces do it on an even more totalitarian way. With this I mean that they have become the producers of almost all goods within that region, but also have their own military arm. Some of these provinces might have faded away and others might have come in place.

But all in all, these new companies produce almost all goods used within their region of influence. Kind of imagine it like those Japanese companies that produce everything imaginable (from cars to computers to guitars to food).

The church might still exist, I would imagine that the Church of Sigmar is still around, albeit in a different form. We could have had some sort of Reformation.

I was wondering what kind of role the Witch Hunters would have in this. But what if they separated themselves from the Church of Sigmar? The Witch Hunters have evolved into some sort of secret police of the Republic, maybe kind of akin to a dieselpunk version of the KGB?

More brainstorming.

You mentioned the age of magic has ended. I could imagine that most of the races and gods have died out. The Elves are extinct. Humans have become the dominant species.

Orcs, Goblins, etc still remain. By the way, do Orcs in WFB work in the same way as in 40k, as in that they're spores?

Dwarfs are around, but what if they are also going extinct? This would mean that the Dwarfs have been seeking other means to still be a power. So what they do is basically create automaton armies, basically robots. But then very steampunk/clockpunk, mixed with a stone golem kind of feel.

To speak in 40k terms, they would most likely be akin to the Iyanden Craftworld that mostly fields Wraith Guards and Wraith Lords since it hardly has any living Eldar to put in their armies.

The Chaos Dwarfs could still be around, but with a way lessened magic feel to them, more akin to the "evil Nazi" you see in a lot of fiction, but then dwarfs. These guys would probably still field slave armies and such. They were the creators of the Black Orcs, what if they did a similar thing with other species such as humans, ogres and dwarfs?
