Hey folks! Keeping well?

I may have been quiet but I have not been lazy. It doesn't look like much but it's taken a fair amount of work to get them to this stage:

Pictures aren't great but they serve a purpose. So my entry to Graven's competition is well underway and the next pass will include all the green stuff work. C&C welcome as always.

In other news I'm clearing some space by selling off some stuff I'm not using, it's going well so far. A load of Tyranids shipped to Cam earlier this week and I'm looking at parting with my very first army which will be sad. Considering some other stuff as well but I'll see how it goes. The one problem is I'm still massively attached to the army so it's probably more valuable to me than anyone else, I'm trying to convince myself that if it pays for an airbrush set up then it's worth the heartbreak.

Also! I should receive my Infinity Artbook One tomorrow so it feels like Christmas eve. Only Infinity can make you this happy. I might post pictures if I feel like sharing my toys with the other children.

Be happy!

Dear Casey's Law,

Your work here is more than a little inspiring. I am simply stunned by the subtlety of you green stuff work on your Ecclesiarchy Marines. Your clocktower is marvelous, it has a really nice atmosphere to it that is highly reminiscent of the second world war but which remains setting agnostic. Lastly I am very excited by the necromunda conversions you have posted most recently, already at this early stage they tell a story.

I hope you will not mind my subscribing.

With Kind Regards

The Guern

Thanks H, I'll be blocking the base sides in with green stuff but the pipes will remain open. Once they are painted I'll be adding some sludgy liquid to them too.

Thanks for subscribing Guern, that's probably the nicest comment I've had to date. It means a lot to me that my work might inspire someone else, it's the greatest compliment. I hope you stick around, I'm always looking for C&C so I can improve. Also, I see you have a blog, I'm looking forward to checking it out asap.

My Artbook One arrived today and it's amazing! Totally exceeded my already high expectations and I've only looked at the pretty pictures so far, I can't wait to read about the design processes and stuff. I was going to post my favourite image but it quickly became apparent that my favourite image was always the one on the next page. I decided that I'd allow myself to post 5 pictures as a preview to those who have yet to receive their book and as an advert to those that haven't bought it yet, so obviously you're getting 6. Whether you play Infinity or not you need this book!

The book also comes with 9 beautiful poster prints which are going to get framed for my wall. This one is called The Big Brother:

The Alien Menace:

Searchers of Knowledge:

The Future Asia:

This is a page from the book itself, I'm posting it because it made me chuckle. These early designs for the Tohaa are miles away from the final design choice and are surprisingly cute little anime guys instead of the sinister double crossing humanoids we all know and love.

And another early Tohaa design for the Chaska. Mewtwo anyone?!

Enjoy folks, I'm off to pour over this tome of brilliance.

Yep 9 prints and the preorder miniature. They are awesome.

Also I just got a job. Just a few hours a week but it means a lot because I've been out of work for so long. Good day!

cool, looks good. Can you preview the gecko action pose page as well? There is a pic from weeks ago floating around by its at an angle and cuts off parts which makes it less conducive to a wallpaper or avatar.

Thanks and congrats! Here is the image I was talking about. If the mini stays true to this, I might actually pick up a gecko based infinity force!

I tried but I can't do much better, I can get a truer colour but it's got loads of glare in it sorry.

Hopefully you've had time to have a good root through by now.

No updates right now folks. Just started this new job and although I have time for hobbying I just want to settle in to the new schedule first. It's backshift so I don't want to get caught up in sculpting and make myself late. I'm off tomorrow though so I'll make progress on Graven's competition entry and maybe figure out what to enter, if anything, to Damo's.

Take care folks!

Glad you're enjoying them, Cam! No need to thank me quite so much though, you paid for them after all. I hope they bring you many wins, looks like they supplement what you already had rather well.

So where has Casey been? Well I started that job which took up a little time but not that much. More importantly a friend of mine came home for a visit and another friend had a birthday. That meant drinking, lots of lovely drinking. To top it off I then bought a new copy of Deus Ex because mine had got ruined right before I got to do the last boss. Well it had been a long time coming so I spent the last three days playing the heck out of it. Such an amazing game, it really is one of the best I've ever played. And no other game will ever have you contemplating life's big issues quite so often or so well.

I just completed it about half an hour ago so we can now return to your scheduled program. Well... I also bought a preowned copy of Skyrim which I had been putting off. I think I'll get on with some hobby fun before I tackle that though, I know I'll get obsessed which is why I've put it off for so long.

I made a tiny bit of progress to Graven's comp entry so I'll see about posting that tomorrow. I also cued up the Nork again for some more work so we'll see how that goes before the week is out. Lastly, the ole Nids are on my mind a lot, what with Medium_of_Death mentioning them, someone commenting on the thread and the rumours of new releases. I think I might 'prepare' them for whatever GW are going to vomit up. Hopefully I can find some useful and not to expensive stuff in the releases.

Okay I'll stop boring you to tears! G'night!

Lazy Casey is lazy. And easily distracted...

I'm not sure what I've been doing with my time. Wasting it I think. In an effort to spark alight all of this hobby kindling I have around me I'll post pictures of my entry to Graven's comp. Pictures aren't great but the purpose is really to shame me into action.

As you can see, all I really managed to do was to get the bases filled in and put down some early greenstuff on the Squat's legs.

I'm considering calling them Romy and Jules but I'm not sold yet. Suggestions are welcome!

In other news I decided to post up my first army in the swap shop to fund and air brush. It was a hard decision to make but I'd rather someone got some use from them and I really do need an airbrush. Someone is interested already but he needs some extra time so he's told me to look into other offers while I wait.

What else... Nope, think that's it.

Well posting those picture didn't really light a fire under me. I had a think about what is wrong and I managed to put my finger on it. Here is a little explanation if you're interested.

This burnout is a direct effect from an unwanted delay in a huge project of mine. Only a select few will be at all aware of this project. I have been working towards setting up my own business within the miniature wargames industry. I'm really excited about it but I don't have access or the money to even put together the necessary prototypes to seek further funding. This is resulted in an extremely undesirable delay and just put me in a bad place for hobbying.

I'm trying to secure some more hours at work or find a second job to get over this hurdle but if I can't get things ready by early November I'm going to have to seriously reconsider some things. If only I had a catalogue of finished work, I might be able to pull in some commission work!

All that said, I feel like working on Romy and Jules right now so we'll see how that goes.
@graven - Haha, I haven't seen that and by the looks of it that's no bad thing.
@vic - Thanks for the honest critique. It might be becuase I plan to paint on a lot of the details or it might be that I still have the GS work to do. Could that be it? If you have any other suggestions then I'm all ears.

Take care folks!

With addition of GS , especially on Jules I think I will seefar bbetter where this is heading. I have to add that I have very biased views on bald girls, bthis probably ha influenced my criticism...

You starting your own business...that certainly sparks a lot of interest as I think you have great potential ! Best wishes!

Yaawwn!

I must say I enjoyed my little hibernation but I miss Dakka so I'm back already. Time to get cracking on my projects again, starting with graven's competition. Which I have just rediscovered to be ending tomorrow, unless anything has changed? That might be a bit tough but I really just have to paint so maybe I can manage...

That's all really just a little update to say I'm back. The company I hinted at is stagnant at the moment but I just had a small development in terms of possible funding. Fingers crossed!
