Back on the workbench with this thing.

Also 30 Mordians for my Council of War army now have their pants painted. If I can stop distracting myself with the joy that is slowly milliputting this plane, I'll get them some uniform colours and a picture up tomorrow.

For now, original space wolves grey pants with white highlighting, and their blood strip is as far as I've got.

They're going to keep those white jackets, they have a very unimpressive preshade and basecoat done with the airbrush. But then the borders will be blue, the epaulets will be coloured depending on squad, and it'll pull together much better.

Well, my Ram does need something to, well, ram. Go ahead and enter the Lander, it will be amazing to see another rescue job done.
Edit:
Just realized I had never posted on here before. Buttery, I LOVE your work. Yorkie is an amazing done model, with three very hard colors to do. Plus, you are a Renaissance man because you can paint, sew, and build amazingly. Please, keep it up, so I have more things to be amazed at.

One of the reasons I like the white it's very hard to lose sight of them on the table. I have a bit of a shoddy memory, so it really helps.

Are you heading to CoW, or am I getting confused (easily done).

I'm really glad you enjoy the topic.
I love to make things - I also make bespoke stuffed animals, costume heads (like for those furry animal people) and clothing... I just don't feel right if I'm sitting about watching TV... The trade-off is not really understanding how the rest of the world works.

I actually got 27 more Mordians today. I genuinely don't know my total at this point because most are in the stripping jar.
Though my three new cannon are missing their gunners, and I have far, far too many sergeants now. Four turned up today, with only 10 troopers.

I don't want this many, I just need specialist weapons and they only seem to turn up in the huge lots of mixed Mordies. I can't even sell my spares because nobody likes them.

if you have too many sergeants i say convert the hell out of them... maybe if you play your cards right you could even make them the still needed specialists weapon soldiers...i know it is always heresy to cut up metal minis...

for my own shoddy memory i store washed out yoghurt pots...this is how i keep track of the plethora of sideprojects...even if these in itself could be lost track of... there easy to be found again

Sadly Vik, the sergeants have a very particular pose. Pistol out, sword raised. Or pistol raised, sword out. They're not happy with a two handed weapon. Awkward fellas.

well.... they wouldn´t need to actually wield the guns... just need to hold them
but i agree...it would be tricky... and i know the models... have iirc both versions...and they´re the same pose as the praetorians...sadly^^

Sorry, I meant metaphorically, as I am entering my Ram in the Monthly comp, and wanted to see your Aquila Lander also finished. No clue what CoW is, I'm an easily confused American.

I'll see how many spares I have after this stripping, and I'll do a projected army build. I already have too many, and too many Lieutenants.

Okay I am slowly progressing with the Mordies. My fatigue is making my attention span 9/10 of feth all.

The desk today: Get the blacks down

What's going on there:

I'm doing the blacks and green base early on because they are very light figures. I don't want to slop black on at the end and have to correct hours of work on the white. The bases are gonna be 1980s grass.

My "spare" Mordians, lined up by squad/type: Yes that's nine grenade launchers and only one melta.
More infantry needed!

Actually my roomie has one unbuilt, and I have a second (Chinese) that I donated parts from to mend this one.

But yeah, I took it into the Forgeworld store when I was looking for parts and they basically said, "No idea, we didn't sell many."

I owe a large photo update of all the crap I did finish for the Council of War, but I'm a bit soured because some jolly fether stole some of my figures at the event.
Just Mordians, but painted Mordians. I haven't got my gear out since because I'm a bit salty.

Let's look at the hat I painted today instead.

That is really very kind, but please don't.
The exception is that I would happily pay for missile launcher Mordians. They are very hard to find, and often only turn up in large lots that I simply can't afford.

I'mnot pissed at the loss of the metal - I currently have 144 Mordian infantry figures (not including the heavy weapon guns) - I only ever really anticipated 40-50 for my army, but another 40 turned up in a lot of tanks, and then there was a HWS I needed that came with 20 or so more...

I'm sad at someone stealing the painted ones, I stayed up late all week to get them to TTS, and then had to field two white primed guys for day 2.

Click to embiggen, and no I did not paint those appalling guns at the back, those need stripping but I'm out of fluid.

They're still going. I add a little insanity and cabling to the double-engine one every couple of weeks. The "X-Wing" needs metals and glass doing and it's otherwise done.
They're a slow-burn project because I under-estimated quite how much stuff I don't remotely like that I'd have to buy to make an Ork army. I was very new to 40K when I started the project, and thought that the Badrukk set and some planes would be enough.

I like the Flash Gitz, the planes and the grots. But I think Boys and Nobs are really quite dull, so I'd have to convert those. It's basically my background army.

I realise that's a metric assload of Mordians, but really it's an exception to the rule. My entire 40K collection fits in three KR multicases apart from the Aquila.
There's quite a lot there that I simply can't use (10 grenade launchers, half a dozen crouching HWS teams with no guns to fire) and will just paint up for various colour combinations.

Oh, you're actually finished and therefore merit some appreciation? Fair, fair.

Go on then, do a spin.

Just found my phone pics of the Council of War events. You can see my various IG getting out and about! See why I went with white? they're really easy for folk like me to see on the table.
It was a tourney where you won by being voted the most fun to play against. Victory points were only for tie-breaking if two teams were both voted fun.

Yorkie was unequivocally the star player by accident. He was out as a Lord Commissar with plasma and I had no idea that this meant he's literally packing the ballistic skill and hand to hand of a small Space Marine. In four games he survived them all, including running out from under from a very large bombing raid. His plasma never overheated and I laughed my ass off several times.

First game - the Aquila is not yet deployed, but due to it being so freaking delicate, I was allowed to dump it there and avoid any calamity.
Game was SoB, Skits, IG and Space Wolves (us) v Nids, Chaos and more Space Wolves. We got absolutely hammered, but it was good fun.

In this pic I'm being harried by a very impressive Chaos army. That large Lord of Change was indeed facing down Yorkie, who on one turn denied some psychic beam or other, and in anoher totally blocked some screamers spawning. Most damage was done to the LoC by two guardsmen and their sergeant who somehow beat all odds and pasted it in the face repeatedly. Sadly we ran out of time, because it started running away from the commissar after he decked it with his pistol.

Game Two: Lotsa nids. This beautiful thing was painted by a really nice lass, and quite rightly won the category of painting competition it was entered in ("monsters" I think). What you see there, is the remains of twenty Tanith, a company command squad, and Yorkie.
Hilariously they stood and pasted that thing in the face for three rounds, and it tried to hit Yorkie back repeatedly and failed. They were both down to the last wound on the final turn, and Yorkie promptly shat himself (rolled double ones for fear test) demoralising everybody and they all sat there weeping quietly. I haven't laughed so hard in a very long time.

You can just about see that Colonel Commissar Gaunt's at the back just going, "MEN OF TANITH. I REGRET THIS COURSE OF ACTION."

Third game (we were late so had to play the staff again). It was really good fun, and we fared better. We faced Tau, Nids, Orks and Ultramarines.

"Oh hey, what's in the box?"

Dakka jets. REVERSE. REVERSE.
The large hole that one is stood in is where a squad used to be. They did a proper bombing run, it was amazing. One of my team mates brought down a Bommer onto my Heavy Weapon Squad.

Fourth game: I only took one photo because it really was not fun to play at all. The team had brought a highly competitive list, and it was just basically an exercise in putting my figures back in the box. there was nothing we could do. By midway two of my team mates had wandered off to get drinks because two of them had nothing left to do. One of the players was really strict with me during my turn, and I very nearly lost my temper and said something rude, so also went for a brief walk when my turn was over as well. We al get different tings out of the hobby, and I didn't want to get cross at him for wanting to play the game differently.
In the final round they were trying to knock out as many of our units as possible for victory points. First they went for the Aquila and rolled that KR black tray in an earlier pic full of dice. Eight hit and wounded. I then rolled the save and every single dice was a success. We were all gobsmacked. Lucky, lucky bird. <3
Then the player who had been a bit strict went after Yorkie with his Ultramarines.

Every single save roll was a bewildering success, and he just flipped the naughty Astartes his metal middle-finger salute before the day ended. Dirty boy.
