Had a good rummage through. Some cracking GS work and like the wash approach to the poxies, very similar to how I did mine. I'm a fan of grubbier metal on my nurgle, personally, but your stuff is looking snazzy nonetheless.

Nice work! I wouldn't call it sub par, unless you have a much better thread some where - absolutely on par for most of us!

Been a bit longer than I wanted between updates, and actually working on stuff, but I've been to two funerals over the last 2 weeks and I just cannot wait for 2018 to be behind me!!!

So back in work today after a long enough break. Got a good bit done but unfortunately bought some more stuff, whoops! Kill Team boxset came back into stock at goblin gaming, and I got paid out my work expenses just before christmas sooooooo yeah great set!

But! 2019 is the year I paint!


Test model so taking it slow with this one. Got to say the quality is already much better than my marine painted a few pages back(which is over a year at this stage anyway!). Base is messy because I removed the sand on all of my based ones, the texture paint is just way easier. I really like how the green came out. Was primed using army painter green, then heavy nuln oil wash, once dried a heavy drybrush of warpstone green and then moot green highlight. Need to get some more paints for the salamanders skin. C&C welcome and happy new year everyone!

Just noting down that method for Salamanders armour. Very nice so far!

How time slips away. Haven't had much hobby time all through January. A lot of traveling, lots of events on and I fully overhauled by hobby space as well. I'll take some pictures during the week as some bits still need to be cleaned up but I was waiting for my new desk organisers to come as it was becoming unusable. For someone who doesn't paint that much I have way too many paints and there was bits everywhere.

Once that was all done I finished my salamander sergeant and I'm very happy with him. I think it's an acceptable level and I plan to get the entire army up to this at least, and spend a bit more time on detailing characters. I have two final test scheme models on the go, one terminator and one intercessor with some spellcrow conversions. Just want to test out their schemes then I can start batch jobbing these lads. You probably want to see the goods, so wait no more:





I purposely chose an open skin face to properly test the salamanders skin tone painting. Always been scared to paint skin but less so now, just following saint duncans steps on the warhammer tv youtube channel. It stands out a lot more off the black IRL


Next thing to do will be to build a proper lightbox to take better pictures in future, and I have the space to store one now too with my new layout

I also tested my hand a painting a picture of my cat for The Warden and it was quite enjoyable. It's obviously quite simple but myself and the missus are quite happy with it. Only thing I'm annoyed about is the whiskers, ceramite white is the bane of my life and it's a clumpy horrible mess of a paint

WFH today so picked up my latest conquest bundle from the post depot. Decided to take a picture as I always like seeing how these things come together. This is issues 19-22. Only two small conversions done to the Riever Sergeant, whose head was replaced with a spellcrow one, and the Blightlord Terminator with the plague spewer was given a spare axe so he's a legal normal Blightlord now

Ahhh, what happened to the time! Been going through an awful time in work, pure nasty bollocks like so found myself a new job. Handed in my notice and finished up the end of the month! That on top of normal life stuff have slowed down the painting work but I've a week off in April I'm hoping to catch up.

And I made two abberants for my GSC kill team to round up the starter set to around 100 points. I like how they came out. Obviously the chubbier castaways from what they usually make:


I also had my first game of kill team and it's very fun. My Death Guard against my friend's(who is also called Steve) Deathwatch. It was a really close game, like stupid close! It was so close we actually don't know who won, but we had fun and the game was short enough that The Warden wasn't annoyed at the time I came home after work. In sadder news with the changing of jobs I'll be leaving my work warhammer group behind. Hopefully will find like minded people in the new place but that's to be seen

It's good to see you back boundless. Sorry to hear work has been such a pain, glad that you're free now. Cool haul of stuff, and congrats on your band's release. The abberants are looking cool, I'll have to take a peek in the Gene Stealer Cult codex one of these days.

I did some "painting" over the last 3 days. Friends were sharing big things they're working on in our whatsapp chat which got me wanting to do something big.



I'm not 100% happy with it but it will do. The recipe I have for the marines(which is spray green, wassh all over and heavy dry brush green) doesn't work quite as well on big flat armour pieces. Container doesn't matter but I would have liked the dread better. He's a bit blotchy up close. I won't be changing him though, No matter how bad my old work is I always like to keep it as a reminder of how to do things right in future and an example of how far I've come.

Anyway, once the shade dried went ahead with the container, one down and 2 more to go:


I also finally finished painting the 16 poxwalkers that have been staring at me the last few months. I started on the bases last night and will hopefully finish them this week:

I like the colour variation in your poxies, really gives the monoposes some variety. With the containers, would you consider running some oil streaks down from the vents maybe?

@inmygravenimage I was actually thinking of that and remember warhammer tv showing how to do it with their necromunda terrain using really watered down brown. Might do some tests first try it

I blasted ahead tonight and finished off the 16 poxwalkers. Now just 40ish more to go :/



I am having fun with them though. So much fun that I started on 9 more with the nuln oil skin as that was my favourite. Will definitely mix them more up in future but will keep some consistency for the sake of being able to tell what squad they are in

Well sweet lord bejaysus that was a hot minute eh? Looking back on my last update that was right before I moved to a new job. The thing is I actually have more time at home with this new job, and more money, but it meant I had to leave my old work Warhammer club which kind of took the wind out of my hobby sails. As with everyone else the state of the world left me at home staring at all my models again so I got at it! We won't dwell on the extended absence

I picked up some contrast paints and I have to say for someone like me they're great. Painting was never my strong suit, or the enjoyable part of the hobby for me so they're great timesavers. The poxie horde is coming along:

I also got this idea to challenge myself with a big or centre piece model. I've had a Slaughter Priest I got for the Gorechosen board game staring at me for nigh on two years now so went at it. I'm fairly surprised how competent he came out. Not perfect by any means and I won't be winning any competitions but for me it was a successful test and stepping stone:


Which then made me go and buy the metal looking skulls because why not! Tried to copy a blood trail I seen online:




Need to work on my pictures that's for sure but I just wanted to upload these while the fire of inspiration was hot in my belly and not waste time faffing on the detail.

Another fun little thing I picked up over the last few months were these old school smelly bois. 26 incl postage for all these on the local buy and sell. Definitely plan on making some casts of the more flat ones

Wow those a definitely old school like you said. That's a nice find, and I like your idea of casting some of them.

I've been working away on a few things but last night was testing out some new contrast paints again on my old Alpha Legion boys. Luckily I only ever painted one full model so not like I need to strip and to redo them!

Here's the previous one that was painted about 3-4 years ago now(and before I found out I was short sighted, I use a magnifying headset now)


TBH it's not awful for the first thing painted in over 10 years but the armor is dull and just wasn't what I wanted. I seen a few recipes using Akhelian Green and I knew that's what I wanted. Cue test model alpha:


Obviously was just doing the armor and trim needs a cleanup but I love that colour. Think I might use a bit of contrast medium to thin it a tad on the next one but other than that I'm all in on this scheme. Also did up two quick cultists which contrast is a god send for:


And because I have the attention span of a goldfish swimming in a vat of whiskey I started building my own inquisitorial retinue. This is the leader of said retinue and I didn't expect storm cast models to be quite so big! She even towers over Primaris marines:


Background in the works is she used to be a member of the Adepta Sororitas who was assigned to another inquisitor. Said inquisitor's retinue was captured and subjected to experiments, with our now leader being the guinea pig for a primaris like serum. She was left disfigured but the increased strength allowed her to break free. As she saved her former inquisitor master he ordered her to leave the rest of their retinue to die in order for them to escape, something she regrets and carries with her still. Now as leader of her own retinue she tries to save everyone she can while also hunting down her past torturers and anyone else who tries to do the same.

Still working away on this Inq28 warband whenever the mood strikes. This next model is a master duelist who has only ever lost once, but lost quite a lot in that fight. He was saved by our Inquisitor leader and then pledged his sword(or should I say swords) to her. Although he is fully loyal to the Inquisitor and her goals, he secretly hopes they one day run into his old nemesis who took his sword arm and side of his face from him:

That Stormcast gal is a fabulous model to base a conversion on. The duellist is cool, too. Interesting backstories.

I really like the piece combination you chose for your master duelist, it has a lot of character.

@Cam cheers man! It's crazy how the time just gets sucked into the void. I've got a good bit to catch up on your blog by the looks of it!

@youwashock yeah she is a great model. I'm trying to tie all the back stories together with a similar thread of each member having something wrong with them or been through severe trauma.

@syro Yeah he came together really well I must say. The genestealer cultist and the ad mech skitarii sprues have so many good bits, and the robot arm is from a poxwalker squad that I wanted more "natrual". I removed all the weapons and mechanical bits for tentacles and growing thingys.

This next guy, he was divisive amongst my friends but I like him! Backstory still in the works but one friend made a funny comment saying "is he compensating for something?" which is bang on the nose. The 'feel' I get for this guy is being (maybe) the only xenos on the team he feels he has to pull his weight a lot more than anyone else:

Been a while since I sculpted any greenstuff so it's a bit messy but we'll chalk that up to being experimented on sloppily by some drunk scientist?

So didn't get much hobbying done but I have just started the process of moving house, more on that later! First off, I have 3 new finished models for my INQ28 warband which I think completes them. All 7 of the finished models came about very naturally to the point where I seen some bits and just started piecing things together without thinking too much about them. I don't have that any more so I'm not going to force in any more.

First up is an Eldar character who was rescued from a haemonculus coven. Luckily(not that he sees it that way) he was rescued before the experiments mutated his body fully but he has developed an excruciating bloodlust and anger which causes him to enter a berserk like state at times. :



Next up is this dude. I've nicknamed him "Byug" as he's only able to make deep beeping noises that sound like that(it's also the phoenetic spelling for the Irish word for "small"). He was found in some mad scientists lair and after being found by our inquisitor just started following her around, kind of like she imprinted on his mind/programming. He doesn't really listen to commands, he just tries his best to follow our inquisitor and her cues. Think of baby groot levels of understanding:



And last but by no mean's least, our heavy hitter, the Salamander Stio'fan Brannoch. Only have the name for this guy so far, no back story yet but I plan to do some more reading on the Salamander's lore to figure something out:



Only other bit of progress was 10 more poxwalkers for a horde of 60 strong now:


This will be the last bit of modelling and converting I'll be doing for a while because as I mentioned above myself and The Warden have made the decision to move house, and I've already packed up all my sprues, bits boxes and modelling tools! Currently we live in a lovely part of Dublin called Clontarf but since March with lockdown and the current restrictions the amenities of living in a city have all but dried up and now we're just paying extortionate amounts of rent to live in an apartment we both have to work in as well, which is all just very enclosed and small. I won't go through all the details but we will be moving into my partners parental home where her mother lives with the intent of buying it early next year, allowing us to quickly save up a nice amount of deposit for a mortgage! We'll be moving to County Wicklow which is where both of us grew up and we honestly both can't wait to live around the mountains and wilderness again. Below is a little picture of the view from the front door, which I can't wait to wake up to every day:


So, the packing has started and I have had a come to god moment that I have way too many models! I've ordered 3 more KR cases(2 still in transit) since packing up, have made my own boxes with foam offcuts, made some makeshift packing with bubblewrap and there's still quite a bit! I've made the promise that no more is being bought, I really just can't justify it. I haven't packed away my paints so I'll be trying to focus on that for the next 1-2 months while we move but below is my shame:

Yep, that’s a fair few models! Plenty to keep you busy, hopefully you get some time before packing away the paints. The view from your MIL front door is cracking, I hope it all works out for you!

Well well well. Would you look at this neglected piece of internet we have here eh?

It's been a time! I've only recently been back into hobbying after finally unpacking most of what I need and getting a space setup in my home office. Now, I know what you're going to say, but I bought a little boxset and that's what pulled me back in after nearly a year off. I know, I know, pile of shame, blah blah etc. but I picked this up with The Warden as she wants to expand into different hobbies. Together we picked up the Pelennor Fields boxset from the Middle Earth SBG. I was so giddy opening this I have to say. I wasn't a big collector of these but it was my first foray into Warhammer after picking up a few of the weekly magazines back in the day. We are both massive fans of the movie!

Anyway, here's some initial painting I've done. More updates will be soon. The different skin colours were to just give the monopose models something unique, but also orcs can be quite diverse. I like the yellow the most, and then the green. I'm a fan of the purple but it's a bit too cartoony I think? A friend suggested to mix the yellow with the others to blend them and make them all a bit more coherent so I might try that:


Then we both painted a model from the Army of the Dead, so I could guide her through the steps, but I think they turned out amazingly well:
