Thanks for the kind comments guys!

Malika - I know without work people like yourself and Jon from Vanguard have done there is no way I would have got back into Epic like this, so thank you so much

A quick update with some Snakebite Ork Clan. These again are Vanguard miniatures. The little 'grub mounds' and Squigs are from CP models, the South-Asian-style buildings are from mighty-minis-uk.com. The Squig Catapults and Sguiggoths are GW classic minis, and were obtained from some extremely helpful people in the Epic Middlehammer 40k group, at an affordable price!

Snakebites look really great, especially with the terrain as well. Event looks fun and wish I could go. If you're using that artwork to promote it though, you should have called it 'Say Hello to my (very) Little Friends'

Thanks for the kind comments man! Hoping I can come through this project with my eyesight mostly intact, that's for sure.

I don't think I had posted this yet here but here is an (almost) complete army shot. Getting on for 10,000pts using Epic Space Marine/Titan Legions rules, there are a couple of individual bits to add (some Knights, Jet Bikes, maybe another Reaver) but this is almost done and represents probably about 3 years of work on and off.

The army will be featured in the Demo/introduction game event in March that I have posted on the first page of this thread.

Sweet looking army. Very envious. At my peak I had close on 30k of orks. That was a lot of models. Yours look fantastic.

Thanks a lot guys!

@Camkierhi - wow that must have looked pretty awesome assembled on a tabletop, and you would have needed a big table!

A quick update with an Objective Marker. This one is just a bit of fun - the idea is you have a recon unit, using the latest mk6 armour for low heat signature, they have gone through all of the trouble of camouflaging themselves and their vehicle, but then just some lowly Squig herder has walked past and spotted them.

Should try to get your hands on the upcoming World Eaters codex, perhaps there might be some hints to stuff to include in your army.

I will be honest mate, I stopped reading any of the new stuff following the Primaris fluff and the timeline moving forward. My 30k force is very happily hidden in the past where rubbish new GW lore can't find it, thank you very much

Some more updates, this time finishing off the Snakebite Clan with some big stompy things!

It had cost them six Gretchin and an apprentice Runtherd but "Ol' Big'Un" was finally ready for war. Supported by an enthusiastic crowd of Wildboyz, who were following along to see her squish things, the mighty beast stomped towards the front lines and the unwitting enemy invaders.

Magnificent, love him. Really want one of those now. Making me itch for an epic army or two.

One of the best things about warhammer in general is unless you are playing in current tournaments, really you can play any version you like. I have all the codex and rule books for each and every addition. So if I fancy a silly game in 3rd I can. Or get a bit more serious and head up a 7th addition game. The models mostly apply across it all. A little imagination in some areas, but generally you can do it. People really get hung up on the latest and greatest, but reality is you can go play what ever game you and your opponents want to.

Nice work on both the objective marker and the Squiggoth, Pacific - is that a GW Squiggoth, or a third party sculpt?

Love that Squiggoth, very cute at that size but I'm sure terrifying if you were at the appropriate scale!

Fair enough! I wouldn't delve in the Codex for the modern stuff though, just to see if there are other hints to the past and BFG related artwork. In your case I can imagine there might be some tidbits from the Crusade/Heresy/Scouring eras included in there which are new. No clue though.

Thanks a lot for the comments guys!

@Malika - I shouldn't be such a grognard To be fair, I do like some of the new range of miniatures, and liked what they did with the new Votann fluff, so I probably shouldn't be so dismissive!

Thanks mate - it's a Finback Beast from the Vanguard Miniatures/Skinners range. Really nice little kit and even comes with some feral Orks to arrange on it. I just added the gun to the top (which I think was from an old 40k Ork Kustom blaster conversion set), so it represented the rules in Epic Space Marine more closely. Now have this guy followed around the battlefield by its little original GW Squiggoths, which are tiny by comparison!

Just a small update on some terrain, which I meant to post a while ago. This is part of a railyard/industrial complex, and uses one of the GW Adeptus Titanicus terrain kits, combined with the train and rail-line from Grimdark Terrain

I liked the idea of Legion officers arriving in their own rail carriage, because why not?

I've added a few little dioramas to the terrain for anyone looking closely enough.

Nice to see some of the Grimdark Terrain stuff printed out and painted, Pacific - definitely makes a change from just seeing the renders.

Thanks Dysartes, yes I was impressed with the kit. Really nice quality sculpt, and I liked the thought that had gone into the design, such as the little spaces for magnets so you can stick the train and tracks together more easily.

My next update:

Cap'n Squigbeard and his Merry Band of Treacherous Gitz

Of all the treacherous gits that comprised the forces of Warboss Mutarg, none were more treacherous than the band of Orks belonging to the notorious pirate Squigbeard. Exiled from the World of Badrukk's Place some five years previously, after an infamous sub-contracting scam in which he ripped off both Human and Ork paymasters by effectively being hired six times for the same job (and secured an absolutely enormous pile of teeth whilst doing so), Squigbeard had been relegated to working for other pirates and the Stunty-beardy-lot of the inner planets; a group that was notoriously difficult to scam and therefore not much fun.

That all changed when the Capital Ships of the 12th Legion and 3001st Expedition arrived in system and the Warboss Mutarg, who had a canny knack for realising that he might then be meeting Gork & Mork in person sooner rather than later, sent a desperate plea (for an Ork, this meant less cuss words, and promises of even more teeth) to Squigbeard and his band; come back and protect the homeworld. After a final bit of treachery and first approaching the Imperial Fleet to see if they could better Mutarg's offer (the response was a hail of boltgun shells, which Squigbeard took to mean 'No') he and his aircraft arrived in Badrukk's Place. They were given free reign to practice the art of warfare of which they excelled at: piracy (and possibly a bit of treachery too).

The band of Treacherous Gitz - these were some of the first 3D printed Orks I've tried and they are some big boys! Definitely more 8mm than 6mm and I had to order some larger bases for them. I rationalised it by saying that Cap'n Squigbeard would only have the biggest and 'ardest Orks working for him, Orks vary a lot in size anyway, and they're a recon unit so are unlikely to be directly next to other Orks for comparison! They were however some really nice little sculpts.
