Oh ho ho, same!

I wonder where they'll start? Hammerhal is already a mini-rpg so would be easy but there's a great amount of options between the realms of life and fire with so much going on in the lore between them from expanding claims into the unknown to the rebuilding of lost kingdoms.

With Malign Portents they could go to the Death realm to and see the events of Nagash rebuilding his realm and pushing forward to retake his "properties".

We’re delighted to be able to bring the much loved First Edition of WFRP to PDF!

We’ve painstakingly scanned every page, and created a PDF that maintains the appearance of the original. This does make for a slightly larger file than we’d normally produce, but on this occasion, we think it’s worth it for all the great First Edition feel! The PDF is also extensively bookmarked for ease of reference.

We released a version earlier in the year via Humble Bundle that did not have the colour plates of the Games Workshop edition, but this new PDF does have all those glorious colour plates we know so well.

I like his description "the mother of all creation myths" since it's going past Tolkien and to the very source of fantasy.

I think your right on release estimate. I was hoping with Wfrp pushed back that AoS would get released sooner but oh well. Just means more quality they'll put in.

AoS was "created with a more narrative-driven focus from the beginning". Unlike Warhammer. ROFL.

I mean I get it, marketing 101, when you need to sell the new thing, tear down the old thing its replacing, but usually you try and keep your claims vaguely plausible.

EDIT: And before anyone blows a gasket, I am not claiming that AoS is a bad narrative game, or that you're wrong for liking it, or whatever. I just find the idea that AoS was designed with some heightened narrative focus compared to WHF, somehow ascendant above the normal mix of desire to craft an interesting setting/narrative and commercial & other motivations that are at play in the creation of a new fantasy IP, well, laughable. I mean I know people who really like AoS a lot who call it "Age of Trademarks"

Meh, I think it's pointing more to a planned narrative from the get go rather than Warhammer's beginning which was pretty ambiguous on direction.

Edit: Haha, I think your clarification edit is more antagonizing than your original post which was a clear defense of Wfb only.

I know many people has forgotten that, but the sole reason of warhammer fantasy to exist was to create a world to sell all the historical miniatures citadel was doing. That why at the beginning, araby, norsca, etc... Had much more relevance and the world was so copypaste from our world.
I know that with the years it grow much bigger, and we all loved it for ir, but even wirh all the shabby bussines reasons behind AoS birth, it has a "stronger" narrative from the beggining. Because warhammer fantasy had none.

Indeed. It also catered to the DnD collections and used Lord of the Rings as a easy backdrop thus why the first editions had halflings, Men of the West, Men of the East, etc.

So, exactly the same as Age of Sigmar, except without the trademark paranoia.

The only difference between the two in this context is the method they've chosen to do the fleshing out - expanding and deepening a setting as opposed to producing an ongoing storyline. The idea that growing a "historical" setting is somehow lesser than picking an arbitrary point and commencing a neverending storyline from there is just daft.

I think that's the point, Yodhrin. People have been complaining about a lack of clarity in AoS' narrative, and they're pointing out it was the same with WHF. Given time, the Mortal Realms will but just as lore-rich.

It's impossible in practice to create a setting and have it fully fleshed out at the same time in a way that rivals the 20 years of development WHF had.
People making the claim that WHF was better than AOS for this reason often failed to realize this, along with the irony of WHF's start.
But I always just ignored them, as it wasn't worth listening to.
I'm very excited to have the first AoS RPG book. I only hope the quality is comparable to other industry standards, and that thetes lots of lore, with bestiarys that have models released by GW, and campaign packs, and....
Well, I think we'll get some goodstuff regardless.

I know, weird, isn't it? It's super easy to be a scathing critic if you aren't old enough to recognise the irony in the fact that originally, the old game was exactly the same in lacking a strong background, and that yes, 20 or more years of fiction writing makes a helluva difference, lol.

Not that I don't realize that AoS has its myriad flaws, of course, but so did Rogue Trader and the beginning of 40k (anyone remember moving vehicles in pre-2nd edition, with differing turning radius arcs?)

My only worry is the implication that both setting will use different rules? That's a real pain in the butt. Though I am wondering what kind of a mind trip it'll be roleplaying in the AoS realms. I'm hoping it gives the chance that a lot of RPGs don't, which is to game in a setting's actual world-building era, rather than the usual, which is adventuring amongst all the crumbling remnants from that sort of era.
