I just realized the Steampunk Cowardly Lion is Hellboy.

Deliberate homage or is it just that at this point there's so much out there that everything looks like something?

The "lion" sure reminds me of Hellboy.. maybe that is the point..

I painted mine up as hellboy already, but I'm tempted to get another and do him in more lion like colors now.

Maybe replace his gun so they can look different and hang out together.

It further occurs to me that the Oz books were written in the early years of the 20th century, which is the age steampunk is supposed to be invoking.

So actual stuff from the age of steam is not steampunk enough for steampunk Wizard of Oz and requires additional steampunking.

We're through the looking glass folks.

I have a plan, Invisible Kyphrixis + blue wash = ice dragon. Now if only I can find somewhere in the UK that actually stocks them......

It's July and you know what that means!

Monsoon rains in Delhi!

Oh and Reaper releases.

First up the bonus model for July is some sort of Orruk which is weird because I thought Orruks were an original idea copyrighted by GW, maybe Reaper got a licence?

A Dark Dwarf Striker, so racist, he should strike light and dark skinned dwarves equally.

Then some Dreadmere goodness. I don't really know what Dreadmere is supposed to be (I envision a swampy version of the Hobbit's Lake Town myself) but this mini line really has some great characterful models.

Snake men

And some cat men who will turn them in snack men.

Ah, they can't all be winners.

Oh and happy Independence Day too, Freedom! Freedom! Freedom! Oy!

I'm looking forward to getting those Dreadmere models myself from the kickstarter. Those snake men though - those are some of reaper's worst efforts in a long time.

Where is that "orruk"'s helmet style coming from? It seems to be cropping up on "humanoids who start with O" all over the place, but I don't know the original inspiration. Was it it in fellowship of the ring and I missed it? It is a gestalt sculptor thing?

As to the helmet,
It kind of looks like a spangenhelm and a morian had a baby- and something went horribly wrong.

I guess it shows off the face pretty well.

The snakeman with the fireball looks like he's about to try to dunk it!

The Orc reminds me a lot of the ones from the 70 animated Hobbit and LotR, so that might be an inspiration.

If you have not noticed, Reaper miniatures is trialing a UK based website for EU/UK sales. Prices are in £ or Euros, and shipping is from the UK, so no import duties, with free shipping if you spend more than £35 or €40.

From perusing online stores like I do Element seem to be stocking Bones. SnM Stuff just got loads in, picked up a few metals from them earlier in the week. including the Dreadmere chappie Polonius posted (might weapon swap for a chainsword or something more obviously 40k in his sword hand, but he's otherwise perfect for Inqusition/Rogue Trader purposes).

And we're back with August releases!

A yummy little figure called Tianalise the Bog Witch. But not nearly as delicious as Prosciutto the Sand Witch.

With a small amount of conversion this rising Bog Skeleton can also serve as a sinking Bog Skeleton, so I would recommend getting two.

A Bog Homac... Humoc... Hymac... vat grown artificial life form!

A 54mm normal weasel, which can also serve as a 28mm giant weasel and a 6mm colossal weasel, so it's basically like getting 3 models in one.

Dark Dwarf Smiter and Pounder. Their history of smiting and pounding dark dwarves remain a stain on the honor of Dwarven Law Enforcement to this very day.

Another good month of releases!

Hey Kid, surely you have something to say about this cutie?

Or this one?

Backtracking a couple pages, when I saw these:
Spoiler:

I thought of this:
Spoiler:

I don't know why. Dinosaurs on trains -- time traveling trains no less -- is already unbelievable enough. Maybe if the series is picked up by Netflix they can have a story arc where the dinosaur train breaks down in a dystopian alternate reality stone age. Only the most savage anthropomorphic dinosaurs survive.

Does anyone know if they released a Wild West Wizard of Oz Scarecrow to go with the Tin Man and Lion? Is there a Wizard/Professor, and a Good Witch? The other pulp minis released around the same time don't seem to be in the same theme. Or have WWWOZ in the item names.

For the record, I blame this thread for my unpainted pile of silly Reaper miniatures.

They do have a weird scarecrow and a weird lion. The lion looks like Hellboy. The witch has a steampunk broom and mechanical flying monkeys.

It amuses me that the smartest dinosaur on the train talked like Don Knotts.

Catching up on releases -- some tame, some a little odd. But hey that's Reaper.

Snakeman archer, for your Masters of the Universe Snake Men army.

Pint-sized Green Lantern.

Here's a dragons wyrm zergling wyvern? Lizard with wings. Nuff said, moving on.

Laundry demon, or plastic bag caught in the wind from American Beauty.

American Idol contestant.

Tombstones, because you can never have too many tombstones?

And Persephone with pomegranate. For some reason. Huh. She kind of looks like she's about to whip that thing at someone IMO. "I swear Hades, if you leave your socks on the living room floor one more time...!"

OK, so that was October.

And just today, some releases for November with no particular theme or order:

A cat-person danseur.

A cat-person auctioneer.

An Elf mage, druid, or possibly tour guide with unfortunate hair. Bangs are so 2013.

And a ranger who fires scimitars from his bow. Wicked!!

Here's something fun:

A stone circle, for your Outlander tabletop adventures and dioramas. I wonder if they'll release a brawny red headed gentleman in a kilt and a woman out of time healer next month? (If so, the wife says I have to buy them).

So far this month things haven't gotten too crazy, I wonder what else Reaper has up their sleeves...

Holy Flying Spaghetti Monster, what is that?!

The description says "Shub-Niggurath, Black Goat of the Woods". That ain't no goat like I've ever seen. Did it eat the goat? What the crap. Ok, not sleeping tonight.

A respectable dragon.

A couple of Orc cosplayers...

And a nice Dwarf adventurer.

Not bad. Something for everyone. I think Persephone is my favorite recent release. Will they release other Greek gods? I don't see anything in the previews. Who knows?

Well the days are getting shorter, the nights colder so I guess it's almost time to close this thread out, but first a few months to catch up on!

Thanks Cleatus for doing the last update.

So first up, MERRY CHRISTMAS! I don't see any new Christmas minis this year, but Christmas Eve, Christmas Carol and the Christmas Knights have returned along with some Santas and paint sets.

And the last and final Dungeon Dweller, a woman with - at no extra cost - CLOTHES! A true step forward for fantasy miniatures!

Reaper has also provided the basic building blocks for my Felinid army.

Reaper's ghosts also impress, though I think the new GW ones are the new standard to beat.

Their snakeman line the Nagendra got another addition

Alongside some classy old school orcs.

From the Kingdom of Cliche we get...

A thief! Who's short! And has hairy feet!

An elf, who's magic! And forgot to put all her clothes on this morning!

And... actually I kind of like this guy... Dunno, maybe it's just the bald head or the fact he's not afraid to show a little skin.

A gundark from Empire Strikes Back

Persephone, who is only available six months of the year

More bones are also coming out, we have...

10 minutes with a hot wire cutter and some foam

Grrr Dragon! And...

ANGELS AND SAINTS PRESERVE US! Kill it! Kill it with fire!

And that about rounds out the last month or two, or three...

The Christmas minis look great, and the Lovecraft Thing is the clear winner here. The Catfolk line looks good, especially if they expand it to include near-future infantry with laser rifles.

So go forth and pretend you're shopping for gifts while really stocking up on stuff for you! It's the true spirit of Christmas!

I don't see the plastic weapon sprues from their second-to-last Bones Kickstarter on their site. Are they not planning to release them for retail sale?

Ask 'em on the forums!

IIRC, The weapon sprue was made incorrectly. Something like they wanted 1x weapon per sprue, and the mold maker made 2x 2x weapon per sprue. Reaper KS backers were sent two copies of each the "wrong" sprue, effectively giving them 2x the weapons they were promised! Someone else can clarify.
