If nothing else, I've tried a number of new things now with this competition. I just bought a bottle of Gesso yesterday, and went to put it on without much success. I added a drop of dish soap to the Gesso/Water mix and then it went on like a charm. We'll see tonight how it dries.

Work has been extremely busy of late though, so I'm definitely behind. Plus we're finally getting snow worth skiing on.

great work peeps, some fantastic use of everyday objects, got some work done on the container grabber, will be adding some more bits too it but nearly finished, I wanted it to be movable but it is top heavy and wont stay on wagon so will need to be glued in situ, enjoy

@M0rdain: I'm glad your airbrush arrived, and that you're getting to put it to use. I hear you about side projects, when I have a deadline is when I suddenly feel so inspired to work on everything else

@Maniac: That's great that you've been trying new things. That's an important part of these competitions. I hope the Gesso dries well for you, I've never tried it myself.

@Bob: Looking great. I really like how nicely the claw and container fit together.

Some great stuff on here, well done folks, keep it up!

Little bit of progress from me, I'm finding this a really tough build for some reason but getting there bit by bit.

Couple more WIPs from me before I head off on holiday for 2 weeks... Getting the layout tied down now and starting to get some textures going on as well. Lots still to do, and unfortunately I think I'll need to partially paint it before I can do the full assembly.

Note - the wooden spirit level isn't part of the build, it's just keeping the platform in place!!

That looks great @Apollinaire, that will look amazing on any board. I gotta say though when you said the 2 weeks on holidays I quaffed thinking "How's he gonna get that done before March 30th?" so checked and the deadline is April 30th I was rushing to get everything done this week! That's a load off!

My build work is pretty much done, although now I realise I have more time I may do a bit more but I think it's fine as it is. I've completed the base with milliput and covered everything in PVA to protect the polystyrene eggs and give some texture to the big cardboard one. I'm planning to spray this white and let the washes do some nasty work on it

yeah I would've been stuffed if the deadline was 30th March!!! As it is, because of holiday & work commitments, I won't get back to the build now till 14th April, so I'm gonna be cutting it fine.

Love your gribbly egg collection. Was the Easter theme intentional? Took my kid to an Easter egg hunt yesterday, I'm glad she didn't find one of these!!

Thank you kindly. All that's left is to lay down some spackle to make Trukk Rutz, then flock and paint!

Going to donate it to the Game Store as well.

Mostly, on my phone.

Happy to be here can never really escape my spiritual home.

I got an amazing pile of stuff from Skalk Bloodaxe.
And a mate wants some sort of prison yard.
And it's his birthday the day the loer contest ends.
What could possibly go wrong?

There was plastic that yelled prison fence at me. Then, tidying one of the many overstuffed cupboards, found some crafting stuff, cardboard letters big and small. I saw a use for the D...

And with small crafting letters attached.

What better place to start a war?

Of course, prisons need a guardpost.
.
So I'm going to resurrect and fix this. It's made from cod bits, a beer drip tray, blister packaging and a smoothie lid. Never finished. Remaking an abandoned project? Never done that for a loer contest before. So why not?

And maybe a watchtower, but I've not figured that out yet.

I love it when a plan comes together

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far, away...

As you asked nicely Cam...

Some progress on my nodding donkey.

Made and attached the 'horse head', then made a pair of counterweights and attached them to a wooden dowel that serves as a power shaft and runs through the motor housing. Spent a few hours for very little apparent progress... The 'walking beam' is not yet attached, hence the black electrical tape acting as a counterweight to keep it in place for the photos...

Spoiler:

Next up will be the pitman arms and equalizer bar, then to figure out the well head... After that, I'll need to look at detailing (rivets mainly...)
and making it fit the Necromunda aesthetic...

For anyone interested, here's a couple of illustrations showing the mechanical parts of a pumpjack...
Spoiler:

I made reasonable progress today. I need to add some of the retaining posts and make two more corners, but it is getting there:

The man's got a point.

I'm so rivetty, I've got rivets on the inside:

Detachable roof for enhanced playability. Also much sprue!

Much tall. So rivets.

That's a motivational build Graven

And RIVETS for the rivet god Briancj

Too early for rivets on mine, but I'm already planning and counting for how many I'll need (hint, lots...)

Update: Pitman arms (made from some old round sprue) and equalizer bar (scratchbuilt from plasticard, with a piece of copper tube for the pivot)

Great work Ruglud, Brian, Tek, Maniac, and Graven! I feel like everyone has been pushing themselves impressively hard, and isn't letting anyone else win too easily
