I like the cargo ship but can't quite love it, the upside down prow looks too much like an upside down prow...

Otherwise fantastic. Good job changing the lines of the ship.

Dragons fear nothing, if it acts up, we breath magic fire that turns them into marshmallow peeps. We leaguers only cry rivets!

Thanks! I think it doesn't look as great in person, but it does seem a good way to turn a warship into a rogue trader/merchant/freighter. The bow reminds me of an oil tanker.

My Tau fleet is done, praise the Emperor. It has been kind of tough making it work, but in the end I'm pleased.

One of the Hero Class ships is painted kind of Orkish for ease of looting. My ork fleet will probably use some other faction/random ships, on the theory that lots of Ork ships were formerly somebody else's ships, and repainting in space is hard.

What do you use for the windows, just a fine marker?

I started with markers and switched to a little brush.

Why thank you!

And now, after an evening of pleasant conversation with Briancj, my BFG enthusiasm is fired up, and we present: ORKS!

First is the flagship.

That's a wild and orky looking ship, I like that it looks like a big ol' jaw

That ork ship is really cool. It's not that similar, but I can't shake seeing a resemblance to a "dragon" from a Japanese comic book called NaruTaru (Shadow Star).

Hmmm - well ork ships are really tough to nail aesthetically, IMO. I don't think GW really did. Maybe they need to watch more Anime!

This was gonna be an ork ship. Or maybe a looted ork refinery ship. But it came out as a shrine or pilgrim ship, mostly because the spires reminded me of the southeast asian temple vibe I like to use for my imperial cult.

Drop fleet commander space station, turrets by an English Company.

Oops! How did that ork get in there?!

Love the colors on the temple ship, it almost looks like clear plastic.

It looks like it's an oared ship! I mean, we've seen WW2-inspired ships in space, sailing-ships in spaced, maybe it's time for oared galleys in space?

Rowed by Pilgrims! If you need 5 gigawatts of power, you need only 50 million pilgrims outputting 100 watts each to make it work.

Or perhaps the rowing of the pilgrims is purely symbolic?

Or SPACE MAGIC! If you had something to push against you could get going pretty fast in space just by rowing, given the lack of resistance.

I feel the same about the ork "fish" ships that GW makes not seemly really fitting. I like you ork ship, how are you planning to paint it? I also agree that your cool looking new pilgrim ship isn't orky, too uniform. Keep up the good work kestral

Kestral, last I commented was feedback on your first Tau ship! The 'finished' fleet looks great, it really came together nicely. The Indonesian ships came out great and I like the extra details you added from DFC.

That first Ork build looks promising indeed. I have rebooted my blog so will be returning to my BFG after seeing your efforts.

BTW, I also recommend checking out the Smotherman formula for designing your own ships. Onwards!

Thanks! I'd love to see more of your stuff.

I painted the battleship after long agonizing over the color scheme. I went with a Geoff color scheme, since those are the guys I am playing in Waaggh the Dog. Not super colorful, but then my old Orks are basically gray, black, red and green.

Also I made some rocks. They are from oak galls, mostly unpainted.

I like your dark Goff color scheme choice Kestral, you built the ship looking very predatory so the dark colors make sense for moving in space. Cool idea with the galls for roks, also.

Yeah, Orks painting up nicely. I've been wondering about using the DFC Resistance for an Ork fleet meself. Nice use of oak!!
