Everyone jumping on the Cease & Desist bandwagon, except GW. They offered a polite request to change the name and came to an agreement with Footsore. The only C & D was from that app company.

Would anyone ever really expect a British court to equate a corporation with a person for instance? I doubt it. Some things are the bizarre preserve of the United States of America, only, though that's not to say that in this instance, I don't actually disagree that Games-Workshop would have had a good case against War Banner.

Corporations are legal persons under U.K. law. The same is true pretty much everywhere.

Are we talking about Peak, as in the company whose parent got in trouble for that Mafia Wars crap at the Bay Area or Windy City(forgot which)? Should've just went with the name; company is probably grasping for straws at this point.

Interesting. I looked into it, and I'm embarrassed by the extent of how utterly wrong I was about this. I had no idea that the concept of corporate personhood was so common and well established. I also had no idea that the notion was so reasonable when one considers that the purpose is that "people should not be deprived of their constitutional rights when they act collectively." I withdraw my comment and apologize for it's snide tone.

Any update to this?

I'm super curious because I can't find any source that says GW sent a C&D.

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke

They didn't. GW just asked them if they would (no lawyers involved) and they agreed. Peak sent the C&D when they tried to turn to Dark Peak. So the thread title is wrong.

As somebody once said, I'll believe corporations are human when Texas executes one.

Not in the least surprised that GW are up to their old antics. Yeah, they might have bunged people a few extra starter sets here and there, and yeah, they might have a fluffy FB page, but the dark heart is still there. They'll never get another penny off me again, that's for sure.

They're not humans. They're legal persons.

Entirely different.

what it MEANS is a corperation, as a whole, can have the law applied toi it as a person, a corperation can break the law, get sued, sue someone etc. without this dictinction you'd not be able to sue Megacorp Inc when they poisoned your watertable

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two
