Here's my entry. Gave freehand lettering and crystal blade a try on these, fairly pleased how they turned out

I'm really close to finishing but probably going to take one more day. Fingers crossed there is a 24hr amnesty even though I don't deserve it and have no excuse.

Presenting - First Lieutenant Camael, Blood Ravens, Second Company

One of my favourite ever sculpts so I decided to go the extra distance do a NMM Aquila and Skull on the banner. First time doing NMM so I'm quite pleased with the reason, even if its not as good as I would like. I think my big drawback was that my colour palette for the NMM gold is the same palette as the background so it looses the effect quickly.


A long-serving veteran of the Blood Ravens, Camael was blooded on Kaurava against the undead warriors of the Necron. Since rising to the rank of Lieutenant, heir to Second Company, he has adopted a Necron skull into his personal heraldry as the company has done with their company standard. Camael dedicates himself to the study and destruction of the ancient Xenos race, and has clashed with them many times over the centuries.

Gee willickers! This is the latest I've ever posted. The mini was finished days ago but life has just been crazy!

I tried to experiment with 'light' and modelling this month. I'm happy with how the base turned out - I reckon it looks like it all fits together pretty well. I'm happy if I reckon it looks like you've done nothing and it just came out of the box that way. The skaven are from a really old Warhammer box and from the newer skaven underworlds warband. The timber is just plasticard decorated with bits of leftover skaven.
The light really should have been more exaggerated but I was a bit chicken. Some of the other models I painted this month are more effective because I was more brave with them!
The skaven are all painted in desaturated tones to contrast with the bright, warm tones of Gotrek but the photos really wash out the contrast and make it all look really flat. The orange coming from Gotrek's axe looks all one colour and highlights on the scenery and skaven themselves are almost invisible. I really need to practise my photography skills a lot more...

Thanks for the comment Viterbi I'm glad you like it, I wasn't sure on the face, thought id turned her a bit undead and needed some more life in it but if one person is happy thats a win for me

Resurrecting this thread as I wanted to show everyone that I did eventually finish my entry. Was only going to be a few days late due to issues with the robes, but that got scotched by an infection in my good eye (the other one is ok for daily life, but everything's a bit too fuzzy around the edges for painting) and then there were the holidays and seemingly spending every day travelling somewhere or other followed by a loss of motivation...

Anyway, massively late, but the necromancer is complete:
