Here's the finished product on my Seraphim-to-Zephyrim conversion... individual pics are in the painting contest thread and conversion details are in my blog. If they're as good as everyone thinks, these will soon be joined by an official boxed squad. For now I'm going to keep hammering away at the army box contents... which with last longer, my pile of plastic or the stay-at-home orders? I'm seriously considering a small diorama of 2-3 Sisters on a long-range patrol, with dusty robes, scratched armor, and lots of extra packs and pouches.

Well Celestine isn't part of the new range of plastic sisters, but I hope that she still fits in this thread as I'm immensely proud of this mini!

Corona Conversion Corner:

Wanted to give my Canoness something different to rest her foot on - think this shrine thing works pretty well:

not sure about having burning braziers on your backpack, and then swinging a massive banner near it, but rule of cool wins, as always!

and I got a Victoria Miniatures Kangaroo APC when they had the promotion on to support the Australia bush fires (remember when that seemed like the worst thing that would happen this year!), and am finally getting around to assembling it, and have decided its gonna be for the Sisters - only got the turret done at the mo, but loving how it looks so far - guns from underneath Junith's pulpit fit perfectly in the weapon slot - needs some greenstuff in a few places (under her right armpit), but looking good:

That Canoness looks very cool, where is the shrine piece from?

Anyone got any tips on painting the Rhino, Exorcist and immolator in a black scheme?

Captain Brown has a massive force of the Order of our Martyred Lady... they're all classic models, but his black tanks are beautiful: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/300/700674.page

Getting closer to finishing my Triumph. Just had to take a picture through the arches of a terrain piece with a retinue of Sisters, very dramatic lol

Slowly getting paint on Sisters.

The goal is to finish the box by the end of the year. While we are at the halfway point, I knew it was going to be a late start as I couldn’t spray prime until spring broke.

Edit: (Dec 27th, 2020):

This thread hasn’t been posted to in enough months to count as necroposting if I just added a new post to the end. But is wanted to post for posterity that I did finish my project in the year, and the results:

And some extra sinners along for the fun:

Long overdue bump, with a tip I'm interested if anyone else has made use of. I had a couple of models pop apart at the waist... I had used a tiny drop of the glue and relied on the perfectly fitted joints to hold them together. The result was that it was way easier to paint both leg armor and robes. I'll look for models that lend themselves to it and do it again when I can... not too many, but it was two out of five in this squad. Anyone else figured this one out?

Took me way too long, but I finally finished all of the models from 2019's Sisters of Battle Army Set:

As far as useful hobby tips, the only one I can add is that Penitent Engines/Mortifiers should be painted in subassemblies. I know, Captain Obvious speaking, but it would have made painting the Penitent Engine a lot easier for me.

Now that I've done the box set, time to get all the rest of my Sisters army done.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels

I have painted the legs/robes separate before. The one big problem with it is that the non-base parts get your fingers all over them. This can lead to rubbing layers off, or just the natural oils causing issues. Using a little tack of glue to attach them to sticks fixes that, but then you need to do a little final cleanup.

I should have done more paint in parts on my box, but mostly just glued everything together. Other big shout outs for part work would be the seraphim’s backpacks/stands and the pengine. Robe interiors are one of those “if you can’t get a brush there, you won’t notice it" things. At least when working for table top play.

I edited my final pics into my post upthread. Was a fun project.

Anyone else plotting to convert some extra Simulacra now that the convent is handing them out for free? I'm working up an easy one with the extra Simulacrum arm from the Army Box and the Mistress from the Repentia box. I was also eyeballing the heavy bolter left arm holding the front handle in a nice vertical position... that could easily be a fist on a banner pole. Unfortunately these Sisters sprues don't have a ton of swag on them for building a little reliquary of some sort. I have some Ravenwing sprues that have lots of purity seals and censers that might do the job for another one.

I'd just like to point out that I totally came up with the idea of putting a turret on top of the Immolator/Exorcist chassis, and GW stole the idea from me

I got most of the chassis (relatively) cheap from a bits store, but I couldn't get a hold of the exhaust stack/braziers at the time, so had to use Leman Russ exhausts instead. I'm gonna try and find some little icons/shields to cover up the pentagonal fixing point things under them, and need to find some headlights too, but pretty pleased with how it turned out
