British comedian Sean Lock has died.

I'm OVER 50 (and so far over everyone's BS, too).
Old enough to know better, young enough to not give a ****.

That is not dead which can eternal lie ...

... and yet, with strange aeons, even death may die.

Another harsh reminder that COVID is not over.

I was a fan of Mr. Chiba's work.

Norm McDonald dead at 61

Apparently had been dealing with cancer privately for about a decade. Definitely not a comedian for everyone but he was a distinct voice in the field.

Amidst the mists and coldest frosts he thrusts his fists against the posts and still insists he sees the ghosts.

a sad day for geeks of a certain age, and whilst I was firmly on the C64 side in the playground wars of the early-mid 80's Sir Clive was a proper British legend, 10 Print "RIP Sir" 20 Goto 10

Hubert Germain, last compagnon de la Libération of the French Resistance, has died at 101.

My neighbour, who was likewise in the Resistance (although not a compagnon), also died earlier this year, at around the same age (I was never quite sure exactly how old she was).

A little bit of righteous anger now and then is good, actually. Don't trust a person who never gets angry.

Posting now as I've only just learned of it:

THE legend, the progenitor of basically an entire genre of entertainment, Mort Sahl passed on at the age of 94, on October 26th.

For those who are unfamiliar, he is single-handedly responsible for the stand-up comedian as we know them today. Before Sahl, all "stand up" acts were tightly rehearsed monologues of, essentially, "knock knock jokes". Mort Sahl prepared for his sets by reading the newspaper. He was the first to really base his whole act around the relevance of /today/. Ripping on current news, politics, and current life opened an entirely new door for comics everywhere.

I'd never heard of him, but this is actually fascinating! Thanks for sharing! The more you know, eh?

And 94 is a good long life too, so he got to see a lot of development on the comedy format he pioneered. May he rest in peace knowing he brought laughter to so many, directly and indirectly.
