Speaking of New Vegas. The RPG cap cost list hasn't been updated.

The Lonesome road board is really nice. Here's a full shot from FB since the blog was only showing off the more detailed areas. Though I'm only just noticing the loose rocks scattered about to make things look better. Doubt those would be used with regular setup as they're hand placed.

Its #FalloutFriday folks and some new releases have hit the store.

Two sets of models this month, both to expand your Super Mutant forces (but with a Mojave twist).

The Nightkin will stealth their way into battle before tearing their foes apart in brutal melee.

Meanwhile Tabitha and her mechanic "colleague" Raul bring new character options and some great characterful sculpts.

Its been a little quiet on the community front but as ever I'm keen to showcase events and hobby efforts, so if you have anything cool going on, do drop me a line.
We did get some great photos from a recent Russian tournament with some highlights in this months blog (linked below).
https://www.modiphius.net/blogs/news/fallout-friday-august-21

There will be some New Vegas painting guide videos hitting the channel in the next few months to accompany later releases (including a great guide to efficiently getting your Securitrons ready) and we are planning a reveal reel of all the Commonwealth goodies that will be arriving in early 2022, more details to follow once that's cut together.

Till next month.

Awesome. I know a lot of people have been waiting for the second half of the release.

Also Modihphis's social media pages posted this just a few days ago

USA! We're this close [holds up two fingers, like really really close)] to the beta launch of the new Modiphius US webstore with local shipping in the US.
If you'd like to get in on the beta launch, and help report any errors, sign up at https://modiphius.us/ - you'll get a tasty discount for your first purchase (and shipping should be a lot cheaper).

US webstore Beta invites are out. The store requires a password to enter, so it is invite only atm, and includes a one time use 20% coupon.

Shipping to the west coast starts at $13 from the looks of it. I add lots of things an it stayed at $16 with like 10 items. So still not great if you want one or two small things but really good if you get a lot -- but that tends to be how things are shipping wise these days.

Lorenzo is also up for sale so last years exclusive should show up on modiphius's UK store soon I would expect (if not already there).

Finally got a Behemoth an some turrets but like an idiot forgot extra mirelurks as us distribution still has those as more expensive then modiphius's MSRP on their store.

Is there any idea when Caesar's Legion will be available in the US? I thought they were going to be available alongside the NCR but now it looks like they are unknown when and moved it from Aug-Sept... now to Oct-Dec. Seems really odd as I have seen people using them on battle reports.

They've been available for quite a while in NA, probably June. If ordering from a local store there have been talks on social media that there are issues with distribution where Modiphius has it in their US warehouse but distributors are listing it as unavailable. It's affecting a lot of SKUs. I know stores can reach out directly to Modiphuis themselves to get it

You can order them direct via the US store

Seams like the Legion was the popularity winner State side as all the discount online sellers are sold out of everything Legion related but the Military command. For restocks in their end I'd be surprised if any, or much, would show up until after the holidays due to the crazy shipping bump that's going on on top of the year+ long one due to all the manufactures trying to get stuff in for Holiday shopping.

Slightly delayed in updating, but September's releases are now live in the UK store and though slightly later, are on their way to the US store (plus distro and retail for those who prefer to support their LGS).

The penultimate month of our New Vegas wave sees more Super Mutants with Marcus and Lily joining the roster, plus some new Robots in the form of the Securitrons.

The Securitron kit is one of our most modular yet (and paved the way for even more swappable parts in future releases) with a set of four different face plates, swappable arms and the missile pods can be deployed open or closed.

https://www.modiphius.net/collections/fallout-wasteland-warfare/products/fallout-wasteland-warfare-robots-securitron-enforcers

For those keen to get some painting ideas, Craig, one of our studio painters has put together a great how to, available on our YouTube channel. Expect more from him in the future.

There is also a blogpost to accompany the September releases, with some awesome community work as part of the #FalloutFriday initiative as well as some details of what's happening post New Vegas as we run into 2022.

Is there confirmation anywhere what the 4 faceplates are? I'm assuming/hoping the other 2 are a Mk I face and Victor but has that been confirmed anywhere?

MM has been really bad at Modiphius pre-orders getting things month(s) after other stores. Not sure why. I know that the legion box set was up on Gamenerdz and other sites in July. Ebay might have some good prices.

Distributors are a hot mess in the US too from what I understand. John mentioned on reddit not to long ago that even though Modiphius has things in stock stores are being told by the middle man that nothing is available.

Hopefully the creation of the US webstore helps a little, but I know supporting the LGS scene is a vital thing, so it’s a tough call.

The other ongoing issue is shipping. I know it’s being repeated ad nauseam but it’s madness out there. We have now switched to air freight to get boxes of minis to the US as we were looking at no boats for last 2 quarters 2021, let alone at the inflated costs that shipping has reached. Then even if you do get a slot, the boats can dock, then the trucks/trains are not there to move product. It’s really quite a challenging time.

But yes, if you really can’t find something and you really want it, the US webstore is an option (and we are exploring other webstore locations, it’s just not a simple fix as we have to essentially duplicate the website locally and manage a whole new stock database and somehow keep them all synced and well stocked).

Shipping prices are growing and that’s not on us. There are so many daft factors on top of the whole Covid thing and while it’s frustrating to pay more, people need to remember that we don’t profit from shipping increases, so it’s not a boost to our bottom line. Hell, we are paying a good chunk of postage to Europe right now for customers (I’d argue that’s penance for a certain political decision... but I don’t want to muddy the waters there).

New blog post up.

https://www.modiphius.net/blogs/news/welcome-wastelanders-to-october-s-falloutfriday

The next wave is going to be next year instead of this year (which we've known for a while) to make sure everything is in the right hubs for release. Maybe March or April. Not in the blog but we should get previews in December for the next wave.

There's new STLs coming soon with pre-supported versions (previously only some stuff on MMF was as I believe MMF did the supports) and they probably spoil a bit the next wave. I'm pretty excited about the first set.

Hi, I’m looking for some help please. I’ve just picked up the two player starter and some other bits.

Are there additional rules for making your own character or is it like the Skyrim game where you only have pre generated “heroes”?

I seem to recall someone on here saying that Fallout has the extra rules for that kind of thing but I can’t find it now.

Cheers
Dave

The Wasteland Warfare RPG expansion (not the 2d20 RPG-- there's two fallout RPGs that Modiphius sells) has basic rules for character creation. You choose a template (called an archetype) and then can make a few slight adjustments to that card. There are fan based point systems on the Modiphius forums that allows you to create a character without the template but it's very easy to build something that will be completely useless in the game so I don't recommend the fan system until you've played the game enough to be comfortable with all it's systems.

The other issue is cap cost. At the start a custom character is the archetype + heroic cost (around 120 caps on average combined) but as soon as you customize the character just during creation (where you improve skills) that goes out the window and there's no good way to really translate XP spent into caps without having a really granular spreadsheet (and I don't know if there's a fan version out there attempting this). Also if using the RPG rules your custom character gets a huge buff in hit points (which is something you can not do if you want) which also is never taken into account caps wise. So just be aware that balance goes out the window with custom characters.

Another thing to bring up is unlike Elder Scrolls you can make any card/unit/character a "hero" in the game by adding the heroic card. This gives you the benefit of using VATS, reactions, luck and some other things. Want to have a hero Mole Rat. Go for it.

Very helpful, thank you.

Doesn’t sound perfect but not terrible either, plus it’s better than nothing (which is where we are with Elder Scrolls at the moment).

fallout has lots of game modes. The custom character creation was really intended for the RPG side where cap balance doesn't matter as much but everyone pulled it into settlement mode.

It does work quite well with Into The Wasteland expansion which doesn't really bother with cap costs at all either and is generally now where the RPG stuff is the most popular.

Modiphius released their Nuka World park STL set. It's got 2 bus versions, 2 bus stops, pickup, lights and various other scatter. Everything comes presupported and for the large things (except the buss) split for regular sized resin printers as well as versions for larger build plates.

You can get the busses and Truck individually but the other items are in this set only.

I've been a lot more hesitant to buy the Modiphius STLs since I grabbed that Humble Bundle and discovered the Vertibird was split into parts to fit their large-scale printer, not more common small-bed printers. The bus lists a print bed size that would fit my Mars 1 Pro, but all the pictures show an assembled version. I'd feel more confident in buying if the bus-only pack had pictures of the individual parts.

Also, after a hiatus from FO:WW, I've been perusing the books again lately and eyeing my small horde of boxed minis. Did the New Vegas rule pack bring anything to the table that would universally apply, including to people still working on their Wave 1-2 releases?

Oh, and have we heard anything further on that Into the Vaults or Vault-Tec supplement beyond, "this is a thing for random vault crawls that will exist"?

ya the vertibrid is a chonker that I haven't even tackled yet. Have the ruined one printed which was some creative cutting of a few of the parts. The bus is in 20 parts (between both versions) and appears to have a peg system so you can swap between ruined back and non-ruined which is nice. I haven't printed (too big for my current printer), just looked at the STL files.

It adds 2 new thing. Basically rules for passing objects between units (though this is more of a slight update to what's in the errata) and map wide events that you use instead of cards. So big events that really mess with everyone. These are NV themed but it's easy to use them anywhere. Outside of that the rule book is just a handful of scenarios and painting guides (which was a big request).

I like the bigger events but they'll probably keep adding them as new expansions come out as I know they want to do more mini books like this as smaller releases inbetween larger waves.

Oh, and have we heard anything further on that Into the Vaults or Vault-Tec supplement beyond, "this is a thing for random vault crawls that will exist"?

Last we heard they were all waiting for layout which was being held up all summer and fall by the Elder Scrolls Boardgame currently in crowdfunding. We'll probably hear more during the modiphius minicon on Twitch next month. John also recently did a interview on Modiphius's podcast that was posted today. I haven't listened yet but he might talk about them there. https://modiphius.libsyn.com/website

All the "new" STLs are designed to fit a minimum print bed of 120x60x150mm.

Now that I am in charge of the STL side of things (as well as everything else) we are not doing the throw an STL up and hope for the best attitude.

All new STLs are now cut to the dims above, set up by a third party (who also tends to print so we know they work) and I also now have joined the ranks of 3D printing so am also testing my end so I know things are good to go.

This week I have been going back through the original files to see what is where (and what isn't in some cases...) and am slowly clawing them up to meet my expectations with the new sets.

So, in time "everything" will be cut to fit the above, properly and fully supported and will hopefully be a much better experience for everyone.

We didn't get it right first time, but as I say, I am now in charge of this and its pretty well known internally that I am possibly one of our biggest critics so I aim to do better.

Plenty of exciting new kits to come for FWW and TES:CTA in time. I sent six new sets (that will also be bundled together) off today, plus the missing parts for the UFO and the tank, and the missing car, so a good mix of old and new.

listening now to John's interview:
https://modiphius.libsyn.com/website

Plans to evolve how Modiphius handles/presents the line starts with Commonwealth which is the next wave.

New factions: Gunners and Railroad.
New Minor faction in Children of Atom. Similar to how Robots were for a while with just a few options. Based off of the Crashed airship in FO4 so only just a small encounter set.

CommonWealth was the first wave where all the content was designed with the input of John. He's been at the company for 4.5 years and every other release had things designed before he started working on the line.

First wave investing in swappable parts to do different builds.

There's still some stuff they're not talking about yet for Commonwealth that will be talked about next month with the big wave reveal.

There's some more attention coming to Battlemode as Jon wants to give it more support but the competitive PVP mode is only part of the game. FWW has lots of different ways to play and it's challenging to focus on all game modes all the time so they focus on smaller parts at a time so it can take some time to give something to everyone.

Modiphius is pretty open to constructive feedback on games. People can actually email Chris and it gets read. (I can account for this, tagging him on Facebook over the Fallout2d20 updates earlier in the year and he corrected it within a few days). Just remember that there are real people working on this game when reaching out.

On approvals and FO1 and FO2. Bethesda have very rarely said no to Modiphius. But there is "Bethesda fallout" and what Fallout was 20 years ago isn't what it is today and Modiphus needs to take that into account with older games. If there are similar units they're going to pull from the Bethesda games.

Bringing in a lot of FO1 raiders doesn't really add anything game play wise over what's already in game as how would they play different? Does it fulfill a gameplay need? If it's just a cosmetic difference will those sell? Modiphius would love to add everything from every game but they have to look at the business side and if the release will be profitable.

Outside of that Bethesda is a game company and they only have a certain amount of "approval cycles" for FWW and Modiphius needs to be make sure that time is used efficiently.

The thing that's the most restrictive for Modiphius is they have to make sure that any content they add doesn't "add lore" to Fallout as Bethesda has called that out before. This makes it hard to add "Codex" books or setting books to the RPG as they're limited to what they can have fluff wise to what's in the games only and all of that's in the wiki.

John is also having homemade chips (fries) for dinner.

I find everything in this post exciting! Thank you for the information.

How will Modiphius let customers know when older sets are re-cut for smaller print beds? I assume the webstore, WargameVault, and MMF downloads will be updated as appropriate?

Oh, and while I have your "ear", has there been any consideration of offering STLs for miniatures as well as terrain? I know it's a thorny issue still for companies that also sell miniatures in the retail market, but...as I get more used to printing miniatures at home, I find I'm also less likely to buy physical miniatures. The sheer convenience of printing numbers and parts as needed is nothing to sneeze at! If nothing else, maybe offering some conversion bits as STLs? Weapon and arm swaps, maybe some alt heads, so that folks who buy lots of a faction can keep the basic guys from being duplicates of the same 2-3 sculpts?
