Hi Max,

Just wanted to comment briefly on the new mixed sprue bundles for targeted kitbashing (i.e., make space conquistadors by using the included Victrix and WGA sci-fi kit bundle, etc.).

A while back here on Dakka, someone posted their kitbash of Einherjar with alien heads from Maelstrom's Edge Broken sprues. A lot of people liked the combination, and at least a few of us here (such as Bob and myself, for starters) ended up buying both Einherjar and Broken sprues to replicate the combo.

Point being, if you're bundling a particular batch of sprues because you believe they go together well, maybe you could include some photos of example kitbashes to sell the bundle? (Especially since you're doing this sort of thing already on your blog, and you're good at it.)

Someone telling me that Einherjar bodies and Broken heads go together really well probably wouldn't have influenced me to buy the kits myself, but seeing finished examples sold me right away. Of course, this only helps when the kitbash in question is particularly good, but then, that seems to be the point of your bundles.

The name of the game for any type of retail is turn over. Focus on what sells vs having all the SKUs. For example if you sell GW, have space marine tactical squads or whatever troops sell well. Don't go over board, find what people need. Look at Warmachine and Hordes as a warning - the game was fun but when you have to buy 150 SKUs and only 15 sell like hot cakes, you're left with 135 items you paid for that just sit there. If some thing doesn't turn at least 3-5 times per year, don't have more than 1 of them. Inventory must move quickly. Online retailers live and die based on quantity. If you're giving up your profit margin to entice me to buy it, then you need to sell 2-3 times as much. New products typically sell faster than old stuff.

As far as your website, it looks better. I would suggest that you brag about your 3D printing and how many printers you have. Find bits that people for big games want. I've seen so many people printing bits for Horus Heresy - do you do any bits for units they don't have yet? Despoiler Squads? Jump packs? Sponsons not available yet (laser destroyers for the Spartan?)

If your printers are high quality, show some videos on YouTube and create a channel showing your coolest prints. You can use that to show case your store too. Get a channel like Nerd World Nation and try to create some demand. Be yourself and just have fun - if you're worried about coming across as creepy, just don't do what Blue Table Painting does and you'll be fine. I don't care who you're dating, the status of your divorce, or how hard it is for you to find a Tinder date. Those BTP videos were so cringe it over shadowed the actual content. Putting a video out that just shows what you have available and what they look like isn't bad. Talk up the printing aspect for terrain, etc.

I believe I met you about 10-15 years ago in Brevard (Melbourne area at the Wizard's Wall?). I wish you the best of luck, especially in today's market. I have a lot of respect for people who start their own business, it's tough out there!

I completely agree with the idea of providing pictures of kitbashes when selling mixed sprue bundles. From my own experience, visuals are often far more compelling than just words, especially when it comes to something as creative as kitbashing. A well-done kitbash can definitely inspire more sales, just as it did for you with the Einherjar and Broken combo.

With the growing importance of visuals, I've personally been leveraging social media platforms for my shop to get the word out. Especially on Instagram and Facebook, a solid ad campaign can increase the conversion rate of potential buyers substantially. I've been using AdSpy software to see what sort of ad campaigns competitors are running. It's really useful for understanding successful strategies and adapting them to my own needs.
