Well, I got BFSP in my order from neil last night. Was going through and decided to keep the gobo's and dwarves (if anyone has any they're looking to get rid of from the box set, PM me sometime) but noticed something strange. I get 40 Gobo spearmen. This is two units of 5x4, where each unit gets a +3 rank bonus. I get 12 Dwarf Warriors and 8 miners. This is 5x2+2 for a +1 rank bonus, and 5x0+3 for no rank bonus. Either the rulebook in the box is 6th Ed and BFSP is a late 6th ED set and I wasn't aware, or they've shafted the dwarves in this box. Unless there is something I'm overlooking?

Yeah, it was odd. Possibly the sprues were being set up long before the change to 5 wide was put in. Either way, it's not like your leaving those dwarfs at just 8 miners. I picked up about 3 sets of the dwarfs, and just combined them into larger units.

....and lo!.....The Age of Sigmar came to an end when Saint Veetock and his hamster legions smote the false Sigmar and destroyed the bubbleverse and lead the true believers back to the Old World.

Or the fact that GW have *always* got to drop the ball somewhere. At least with Warhammer they printed all the pages of the rulebook - with LotR they missed a page out completely, and a different one in the mini-rulebook than in the main one!
I suspect it is something as simple as the plastic components being decided months in advance before the rank bonus was incorporated into the new rules. By the time the rules had been altered it was too late to change the contents of the set.
They are then shipped out on the basis that "as its only an introductory set no one will be that bothered"...
GW's motto "Good enough, is good enough"!

Also, possibly, something like "We're selling the new boxed set with over 100 figs for around fifty bucks, so anyone complaining about it will probably be dismissed as impossible to please even by their fellow internet cranks."

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias |

Posted By SuperJohn on 11/21/2006 11:28 AM They screwed up. Dwarf book obviously written after the BFSP sprues were cut. D'OH!!! I think you mean the WHFB rulebook, but the Dwarf book was indeed written before either BFSP or 6th edition, hence how nearly every dwarf unit pictured is 4x4, and that the plastic dwarf regiment boxes come with 16 dwarfs. Not helping the matter, the other dwarf units come in packs of 3, though hypothetically 5 of those makes for a 5x3 unit of expensive infantry ... Basically, GW gets to sell everyone more dwarfs then they need (o_O) in order to make up 5-wide ranks. w00t. - Boss Salvage

It's like the hot dog + bun mismatch. Six hot dogs in a pack + 8 buns per pack means that you have to buy 24 of each.
