Does anyone know of a good brand of grey spray primer?  I use GW black and white primers, but they don't make a grey.  I think that Armory makes one...has anyone used it?

I am frustrated by painting up my Menoth.  I haven't painted a lot of red or white before (my SOBs are still on the shelf...).  So I first started painting them as suggested in Prime - spray black, paint/wash/drybrush the metal, then paint and highlight the white and red parts.  Of course, it took three coats of off-white or red to cover the black primer properly before even getting to the highlights. The end result looked a bit chunky to say the least.

So for my second batch: I sprayed black, then re-primed the to-be-white parts light grey, and the to-be-red parts dark grey.  Painted/washed/drybrushed the metal parts.  The colours are going on much nicer with a single coat now.

But all that repriming by hand made me want to gnaw my own foot off.  I would like to be able to just hit the whole mini with medium grey and go from there.

I picked up a can of grey auto primer for my FW resin minis, but I fear it might be a bit thick for smaller things like warcasters and troopers.  Anyone have any experience with using car primer on smaller figs?  How do you prime those Death Korps of Krieg resin infantry?

Duplicolor gray sandable automotive primer - get it at most auto parts stores and walmart. Also in black, white and rust. I stoped using GW or other "mini brands" a long time ago. I have the least problems with it compared to the other stuff.

Wal-Mart Equipment Gray Primer

It's dirt cheap (97 cents a can), covers smoothly and evenly, does not clog details and has consistent color from batch to batch

How much do I like it? It's the primary color of my Space Marines. Oh and it's a dead on match for one of the GW grays (Fortress Gray, Codex Gray...one of those, the lighter one)
