Some of you with really, really good memories may remember Spring of this year I was messing around with some test color schemes to paint a brand new Tyranid army.

Well, after some master procrastination, I have finally geared up and finished a few units. As I complete more stuff I'll keep adding it to this page.

Very nice. Good blending. Only thing is it reminds me of GW's colour-scheme, so it doesn't strike me as "unique". (Very small thing, though) Wish I had the patience for that.

Nice. The color scheme really makes the bugs "pop," and the highlighting nicely emphasizes the alienness of these critters. Very xenos. Very cool.

Oh yes I remember. There was a Tyranid Warrior in the same colours, too, wasn't it? Well nice guys but what we really can look forward is your Hive Tyrant.

I really like them. A whole army at this standard would be an awesome sight on the table. I like the color combo and the very clean highlights and shading. Hope to see more of this army.

They look fantastic. I am painting a nid army for a friend and he wants Red skin with blue carapace. I was thinking of reversing it, to like yours look; so this is good reference material.

@Steelmage: It's actually a reversal of the basic Behemoth color scheme (which is red flesh w/ blue carapace), although I know you're saying it is still reminiscent of that scheme. But too late; I didn't want a wacky color scheme and I thought long and hard about colors I'd enjoy painting with and this is what I decided upon.

All this Tyranid stuff (especially the WIP Tyrant w/ Insaniak) is really making me think of finishing up my own army.

Great work. They look fiery. I like 'em.

The panterly highlights are great! Good technique! I am not so much a fan of the color combo though. the bright red and orange make it look a tad to plasticy. A blueish wash over it to pull the red into line with the body would be great. Otherwise I love it, and yoru bases! Good show!

Looks excellent. The red is particularly good (because red is so tough to pull off).

Seeing this army made me really want to paint some Tyranids really bad.  I think they are striking; beautiful.

One thing to consider is how an army will look on the table as a whole, something that is hard to convey in pics where the model is blown up to five times size on the computer screen.  I think this army is going to show up very nicely on the board.

I like the warm-cold contrast.  The flesh is subdued enough to not complete with the carapace.

Looks good, yak. Funny that you started with an inversion of the Behemoth colours - I've got mine in an inversion of the 2nd ed. Genestealer colours - baby blue flesh, lavender plating. Nids can be quite a trick to get to a reasonable finish with a two-tone scheme. They drybrush up ridiculously fast for one colour, but I'd wager most of your time went into those orange extended carapaces.

They must be Mets fans.  They'd be a good match up against my NY Yankee themed Space Marines.  Pinstripes suck to paint.

Well since there are Genestealers I doubt there will be that many monsters.
