– Cutting the walkers open reveals a pleasant (and, in hindsight, obvious) surprise: Painted Interiors. – Rackham have released clear pictures of the Therian Overseer and Hekat. – Found some prices – and disappointment – in this German Thread with Pretty Pictures: Hier einige Releases aus dem Fragen an Uc teil von Planet: Januar: Einheiten-Box: Steel Troopers Box mit 6 Miniaturen 25€ Einheiten-Box: Storm Golems Box mit 6 Miniaturen 25€ Zubehör: Erweiterungsset 1 Zubehörset zu AT-43 20€ Einheiten-Box: Steel TacArms Box mit 3 Miniaturen 30€ Einheiten-Box: Bane Goliaths Box mit 3 Miniaturen 30€ Februar: Einheiten-Box: Fire Toad 02 Box mit 1 Miniatur 30€ Einheiten-Box: Fire Toad 03 Box mit 1 Miniatur 30€ Wraith Golgoth (Schwarz) Box mit 1 Miniatur 40€ Wraith Golgoth (Rot) Box mit 1 Miniatur 40€ Zubehör: AT-43 Zubehörset zu AT-43 15€ Einheiten-Box: Steel Troopers/Attach. Box mit 6 Miniaturen 30€ Einheiten-Box: Storm Golems/Attach. Box mit 6 Miniaturen 30€ – Fair enough for prepainted but I was hoping they'd be cheaper than the metal Confrontation minis regardless (~ 4€ for a standard human). But, hey, prices always come down when a game becomes popular. Right? Guys? Guys? Where'd everybody go?

- the Interior is not painted, it is plain plastic, but one could paint it.... - you forget tha assambling an color costs money... also prices are SRP... which translates into 5 Euro cheaper at your LGS.

Ah, danke. ") Unfortunately, any AT-43 miniatures I buy would be immediately subjected to disassembly and re-priming so, in effect, I would be paying a premium to inconvenience myself. Still, all power to those for whom prepainted is a godsend; with the broadly-appealing background, consistently good design and sculpting, and acres of plastic we may finally have a 40K-killer. Assuming the full rules are any good. Oh, and fellow Dakka-ites: if Duncan_Idaho says something regarding AT-43, it's probably right. But I'm better-looking.

Ouch... steep prices, although they are, admittedly, warranted in the current market place. I do think that they'd be able to grab a stronger foothold if they had a lower price point. Imagine how well the Initiation Set would sell if it were priced equal to the GW starter boxes!

Well I got to play with the initiation set Friday night. My friend is a sentinal for my area and was sent the box set for demos. My first impression after opening the box is wow, not wow from the great painting standard used but it is a very good finished product. Everything you need and of course all painted. Now the painting isn't extremely good, but it is still a whole lot better than most people care to put into their 40k and Warhammer armies, and is a lot better than D&D minatures or clickables. They use lots of washes and even drybrushing. One particular piece that caught my eye was the Firetoad, the human walker. It had a zig zag camo paint scheme with lots of little details, like NO STEP and insignia all around. The Therian waker is a beast of a model and in play lives up to its stature. We were abel to go through the first two beginner scenarios, the first pits the Firetoad against the Therian walker. The Firetoad basically had to get off the map. I never made it. The therian walker once got within close range, which using the map provided was inevitable. The Firetoad is equipped with 2 light laser cannons, and the Therian is armed sonic weaonry that Slaneesh would love to have. I went down in a heap of molten metal twice. The walkers have structure points, in the scenario the firetoad has 5 and the Therian walker has 6. Once the structure points are gone so is the walker. The next scenario pits for 4 Steel troopers against 4 Therian with reserve. If the steel troopers get wiped out then 3 can come back on the map edge. The Therians get 2 back. This scenario faired a little bit better, the steel troopers still lost but barely. The game can easily go 30 min to an hour depending on numbers used. And course we just did the beginning scenarios, this is without using lots of the comand rules etc. All in all it does look to be a really great game to jump into and not be sorry for it. I know at the game store we were at, there a lot of D&D painted minature players, and the game immediatly caught their eye.

Danger Planet has an initiation set, and I took a gander at the models the other day. The big walker things (Firetoad and Therian thingy) are very nice looking. The infantry models are better-painted than most D&D minis, but actually pretty comparable to the best-looking D&D prepaints. Definitely not as nice as my painting, and I'm just an adequate tabletop painter. Still, prepainted is super convenient, and they do look pretty nice.

I really like the idea of getting the basic troopers prepainted, and then getting the cool mechs and heroes unpainted and doing them myself. It's the best of both worlds. Save time on the tedious bits, and still have some personalized cool minis. And you only have to paint the ones you want to. I think that's great.

Yeah I am very excited about this game. Neal (warstore) is hopefully shipping my OD set today. I hope the advanced rules live up to the incredible models! I have been watching all the pre-press about this game and I think the potential is great.
Incredible Sculpting, Prepainted, comparible prices, and hopefully good rules. Should be a Homerun.

Well.... you gess... I got it directly from Jean Bey and Martin Terrier. Only promo-minis will be metal and unpainted, all other will be painted. And I do think the owner of Rackham knows it best.

Duncan_Idaho seems to have the inside know how, however, Ghaz has over a thousand posts.

I think Duncan's inside scoop just might trump Ghaz's post count. Not to mention that it's been stated before elsewhere that the rumors of wide release unpainted figs were just that, rumors. Me, I don't care, as the pre-painted saves me a bunch of work so long as I can scrub them down with some soapy water and finish up the paint job (or make a few strategic changes).
That said, I wouldn't complain if completely unassembled, unpainted versions eventually became available, those Red Star troopers are the shizzle.
