I've read where the wolves keep up with chracters who are using bikes and I believe this was printed before the newest rules. Can someone tell me if this has been clarified in the new rules and especially relating to the turbo-boost rule?

Thanx,

The SW FAQ (see below) doesn't say anything about it. The only clarifications regarding Fenrisian Wolves are to ignore the second paragraph, the wolves have to stay within 12", and the unit follows the rules for mixed Toughness and mixed armor saves.

So yes they can keep up with the Ic even if he turbo boosts.

Sorry for the double post, I was afraid that I'd worded the title wrong and might be confusing people with what it was about. I was thinking that there were no clarifications and so I've discovered a hidden gem for the list. Taking a large command squad on bikes along with the Wolf Lord and possibly the Wolf priest, you have eight wolves to soak up that first round of fire, meaning your boys should be intact and ready for combat by round two.

Thanks so much for the input!!!

Make sure you remember to apply the mixed save rules! Which means you could end up losing alot of marines....

No you wouldn't.  They have the same Toughness so the majority Toughness rule is no disadvantage and the Mixed Armour rules let each model use its save, but you apply the wounds to the majority type first.  You might lose a lot of wolves, but only if you have more wolves than you have Marines.

My bad, I was thinking wolves were T3 for some reason....

It is still easier to shoot a unit down to half or less with wolves than pure PA models, though (this is especially true with characters as killing wolves can reduce the "unit" to less than 1/2....). Wolves don't get the 2+ invulnerable save from turboboosting, either. So it can still be tricky.

Actually, you have to remember that the Space Wolves on the bikes have T4(5), so Majority Toughness could make a difference.

turbo boost has an * next to it, so he'd lose the ablity to trubo boost.

This is where sequential shooting comes into play. Assuming 8 wolfs and 8 bikers, shoot first with a heavy bolter. Any casualties must come from wolfs due to Mixed Armor. Now the bikes are in the majority so shoot with anti-MEQ weapons until wolfs are majority again. Then heavy bolters until bikes in majority, and so on, back and forth.
