Base is a nice match for a fine figure. What are you using on it?

Nice one Yorkright, he looks cool. Seeing everyone painting their Necrons gets me wanting to paint mine!

Thanks Youwashock I had no idea the face turned out like that till you mentioned it.

For the snow I used army painter snow added a few rocks from the driveway and some squiggles of GW blue wash. Glad you like it.

I am looking forward to your take on the Necrons Gobert, they are some great models.

Friday night, taking on the Outriders it’s slow go but did get some more paint down.
Thanks for looking.

So haven't been here in a while, for reasons i seem to have missed all the nice updates...

Firstly: damn that is a nice looking necron.

Secondly: you made me appreciate the babyblue marines... something rarely achieved.

Job well done.

Good start on the smurf bikers, they’re really cool sculpts and your doing them justice so far!

Some may call Ultras boring, I call them classic. These are coming along nicely. "Get yer motor runn-in'..."

Welcome back Not Online and thank you, the Necron is one of my favorites from the Indomitus box.

Thanks Gobert!

. I am not sure why folks think they are boring perhaps because they don’t have the little quirks (BA, Wolves, etc..) the others do. Big plus for me is you get a Primarch as your Commander!

So I finished the bikers and have primed the Bladeguard. I have a question, should I do their cloaks in the same orange I did the Chaplains or use the standard GW scheme?

Mostly, on my phone.

These look very snazzy, and I would go with your own Chaplain scheme.

Nice one! Nice crisp paintjob, perfect for Ultras. Noting your point about getting a Primarch to lead them, do you have the big man yet? As for cloak colours, I thing you should match the Chaplains cloak, it’s a nice colour and it gives a personal touch to the army.

Thanks guys, orange it is for their cloaks.
@Goberts, I do have the big man, cannot take credit for painting all of him. A friend started Guilleman I just did some washes, highlights, and redid the base. Here is a pic of him and a comparison shot next to the Skorpekh Lord.

Very nice job on the finished Outriders, may they run over roadkill with ludicrous speed!

And I'm quite shocked that the big man is not nearly the same size as the destroyer lord.

All right guys thank you for the comments, now it’s time to start a new unit. Up next is the blade guards going with standard colors other than the cloaks. Are they really cloaks or does anyone the proper term.

Love that Skorpekh lord. Probably the best new Necron model and that's saying something. I like your metal tone. Can't wait to see more :-)

I was going to go for tabard too, 2 people on the internet said it, so it must be that!

Robots looks really cool, it’s surprising that tthe lord is as big, if not bigger. Those 2 need to face off on the table.

The new blade guard has started well, good luck getting him done

Thank you Tek for stopping by, yeah he is a great model and I am glad you like how I did the metal tone. Don't know if you looked back on my blog but I have painted up almost all the Necrons from Indomitus in the same manner.

Thanks Buddy! Hoping to have this one done soon.

Thanks for helping me out Youwashock, I was too lazy to google it myself...

If you both said Tabard it must be right. Maybe I can have a Necron-Lord vs Primarch battle royale and see who comes out ahead. (My money is on the Primarch he is pretty bad ass in close combat and can come back from the dead on a 4+)

Thanks for looking.

Laying down the golds and silvers this is prewashes and more highlights. What are your guys take on adding a blue wash to the sword? I’m a bit hesitant as there is plenty of blue on the model.

Looking good. Like the weathering on the holster. Go for the blue on the sword. A subtle tint will look good with the armor and the orange of the cloth/gold.

Snazzy! I’d maybe go with red or orange if you’re concerned about being too blue, but he’s and Ultramarine, so it’s not possible to be too blue right?

Thanks guys for following along, really appreciate the CC helps to push me to improve my painting. Not sure if it shows but I did put a blue wash on the sword.
Here is some pics of the finished bladeguard. I also started blocking in the colors of the sergeant. I’m a bit miffed as a couple of the spikes on his halo broke...

Nice work on the Bladeguard, to bad with the spikes. Were they broken while on sprue? If so I would contact the GW customer service.

Bummer. Yes, if they came broken, you could see if they can get you a replacement. BG looks good. The blued steel on the sword came out nicely.

Unfortunately one broke when I dropped it on the floor and the other cracked. Tried some super glue but it didn’t hold, will just have to live with it.
