Hello again, and welcome to the latest issue of the Forge World Newsletter. In this issue I`ve got lots of photos of one of the next Death Korps of Krieg infantry units, complete this time, not just individual figures. We also have a very, very late release. Something rather special, a bit of a surprise, and possibly a last minute purchase for Christmas. Take a look below. Thx, Ewen Little. Forge World. <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td valign="top"> </td> <td valign="top"> Available NOW! - Giant Bloodthirster Head This model is big. Very BIG. I just measured the horns and it was 15 inches/380mm across and the complete head weighs about 6.5 pounds/3 kilos! We usually take photos of big models with another model next to it to help show the scale. You’ll all have seen Paul`s brave/foolhardy Empire Champion facing up to Daemons and Dragons in newsletters past. Strangely, this time he was nowhere to be seen! I was forced to stand in and take his place, trying to show how huge this magnificent piece of work actually is. Hopefully I have done him proud. So who made such an imposing model? Who else other than the designer and sculptor of the original Forge World Warhammer and 40K Bloodthirster, Daniel Cockersell. Daniel has faithfully re-created the hellish features of the Bloodthirster, greatest of Khorne's servants, in even finer detail than before, with the model exuding the Blood God's rage and never-ending thirst for blood. It would take very little work on your part to mount the head of this beast on a suitable plaque or similar so it can be hung from the wall. A couple of screws through the mounting board into the back of the neck and you’re done. (I took a moment to think about it the other night after seeing the Bloodthirster head complete for the first time. I have a place on my hobby-room wall in mind already.) We are starting to hand-cast the first Giant Bloodthirster Heads over the next day or two and we should have some ready for sending out, all being well, early next week. Any mail orders placed for one, (or more!) Giant Bloodthirster Heads for Christmas presents will have them shipped out by UPS Express or Royal Mail Special Delivery automatically at no extra cost. We know this is a bit last minute, but this model is more than a bit gorgeous, and if there is any chance whatsoever of getting it to you in time for Christmas, we’ll try our best! Want one? Give myself, or any of the rest of the guys here, a quick call to check availability and where you are in the waiting list. </td> </tr> <tr> <td colspan="2">
</td> </tr> </tbody> </table> <table width="100%" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" border="0"> <tbody> <tr> <td colspan="3"> </td> </tr> <tr> <td width="49%" valign="top"> Preview - Death Korps of Krieg Infantry Squad at Ease You may have seen some of this next unit of Death Korps of Krieg already. We took a few to a couple of shows we were working at last month and Alan showed a few figures from this forthcoming release in Newsletter #159 a few weeks ago. `Squad at Ease` are quite unusual in that they are just that! Gone are the more common `martial` poses that we are all used to, and in their place we have some models that are just crying out to be bought and painted, regardless of whether you have a Death Korps force or not. The squad is made up of ten bodies with specially matched sets of arms and weapons, all of which combine to make a rather different and very characterful unit which would be perfectly at home either in dioramas or Golden Demon vignettes, or on the gaming table as part of a fighting force of Death Korps. My own favourite in the set is the trooper fixing a combat blade to his lasgun. The Death Korps of Krieg Infantry Squad at Ease set will be another of Forge World’s rapidly growing force of Death Korps due for release in January. They should be available to pre-order in the next few weeks so watch your inbox for more Forge World Newsletters! </td> <td width="2%" valign="top"> </td> <td width="49%" valign="top"> Ordering For Christmas Delivery? - YES! i like the "at ease" guys, but I'm not crazy about them. Some of them seem to have a dazed feel to them.

"The last known instance of common sense happened at a GT. A player tried to use the 'common sense' argument vs. Mauleed to justify his turbo-boosted bikes getting a saving throw vs. Psycannons. The player's resulting psychic death scream erased common sense from the minds of 40k players everywhere. " - Ozymandias |

Stalwart Strike Squad Grey Knight

Posted By bigchris1313 on 12/13/2006 11:43 PM But what if I want my army to be doing the shell-shocking? Although it would more likely be part of a diorama, the Squad at Ease could actually waiting for the crippling bombardment of their Heavy Mortars and Earthshakers to die down so that they can go "over the top" . Which means, they climb up rickety ladders and charge en masse across the flattened, blood-soaked, muddy strip of No Man's Land. In a game, you could still represent the above with your Squad at ease and then you can replace them with a squad of Death Korps that mix together figures from the Death Korps Advancing and Death Korps Firing squads to capture their desperate flight across No Man's Land as they try and pick off the enemy on the run. Thanks, The BlueGrassGamer

The squad at ease would make good stand-ins for the command squads. Place them around a table or holding a map. Running across no man's land is the work of junior officers after all.

Something about the anatomy on those Kreig is just... off. On the other hand the Bloodthirster looks cool as all heck although is extremely useless as anything other then a paper weight or a trophy (hey- Grey Knights have dens too).

I think squad at ease is the most excellent idea I've seen for ages. I imagine the face of your opponent if you win a battle with such relaxed figures ("My squad at ease charge your carnifex... And win!"). Or you could place them as survivor after a Chimera has blown up ("It's just a flesh wound!")
Those miniatures allow a new level of dry humor in the game.

At Ease Korps look impressively bad-ass, and without actively doing much else! I think this squad has great potential mixed in with other squads, or as said bulking out command sections / irking opponents / etc. Good stuff FW, now more Chaos Militia!

I gotta get me some Bloodthirster head!
I like this Korps of Krieg stuff very much -- it's just the dumber-than-an-exceptionally-dumb-dummie name that keeps me from buying them.

at the very least that thirster head could be used as a carved rock or other statue type icon or idol for the blood god. albeit a ratehr expensive piece of terrain no less.
