Okay so my friend has recently started using his Dark Reapers to deadly effect with the small guess template at AP 3.

Can anyone clarify the specifics of how they do guessing and hitting of squads.

I know that the template has to be centered on a model, but does that model have to be the EXACT distance guessed?

Or can the distance guessed be to ANY model in the squad and if so does the template have to go on only the model that is the exact guessed distance or can it go on any model in the squad so long as one of the models is at the correct guessed range?

I know thats a little wordy but I think it gets the just of my question out there.  I mean there are times that the guess is slightly over the intended model but would be in range of A model in the squad.  Just need this clarification to decide what tatctics im going to start using....thanx

There is no guessing anymore.

"G" ranged weapons are Barrage weapons that follow the rules on page 31 of the rulebook.

Essentially, Barrage weapons just don't require LOS to the target. However if out of LOS and they Scatter, the player rolls 2D6 and picks the highest D6 for the Scatter.

Technically, they've always been 'Barrage' weapons. It's just that they've changed how 'Barrage' weapons work between 3rd and 4th edition. The rules for 'Barrage' weapons are found on page 31 of the Warhammer 40,000 4th edition rulebook.
