Thanks! No idea when we'll get to play it. Soon tm.

I finished the first 5, woo. Got some pics I now see to be a bit blurry. Bleh.

Raagh.

These guys will go in the KT. I think the Arnie face paint looks better than my previous attempts (and the Spiderman face). I also added camo stripes to the weapons as well as leaving the metals dulled.

Non KT dudes. Rank fillers for the Scout squads.

Final squaddie.

I think they've come out nicely and I've done a lot of the donkey work on the next 5..

Seen here. These guys all all KT members. I'm trying to ride my current enthusiasm wave and get as much done as poss.

I've also received my 2nd delivery from Conquest, issues 3-6. This means I can now field these guys too..

ETB Inters that everyone and their uncle will now have. I've used a head from the 'Space Marine Heroes' set that I was given (which is why it's yellow)...

ETB Reivers, I've replaced all their heads as I detest the skull masks.

So that's a Primaris KT right there. I may get another sprue of each of those so I can make 40k squads out of them. I plan to sell the Plague Marines and Poxies as well as Lft Calsius as he seems to be going for money and I'm not that bothered about the model.

Moar sooner or later, hope you liked.

Been progressing with my projects..some quick snaps..

Scout KT is nearing completion, lot of progress on the last 5..

Quite happy with them..

These 2 old guys are also part of the KT and I will revamp them a bit. I will pry off that bush (originally from Treebeard actually) and replace it with some clump foliage al la Ratlings basing. I've done a little touching up over all 20 of the old Scouts, just so the new ones don't stand out too much..

In other news I finally found a use for the Skullbard..

It doesn't look too big on this guy at least and I wanted him to have a Power Sword seeing as it's the only thing I can give him (Primaris are weird). I've also ordered another sprue of these (and Reivers) off eBay. I hope to recoup that cost by selling the Choas stuff. I'm hoping Calsius will pay for issues 3-6 of Conquest too.

Reivers are built and I added a chainsword to distinguish the Sarge..I also removed the long service studs from his head, won't have earned those yet. I plan to paint them as per the Scouts, black and camo. I'm not sure where to do what colour..maybe a camo right (as we look) pauldron and kneepads, the rest black. Maybe a camo breastplate? Thoughts?

More soon. Hope you like.

Well these are very nice indeed. I'm sure you are pleased with the DPM hood/scarf on the Scout specialist - it looks proper gucci, as they say.

I had a thought re your Reivers - how about replicating the camo stripes you've done on the new Scouts' guns, but over the whole of your standard Ultra blue armour?

I'm reminded of this...

Only more blue-er and differenty.

Anyway great progress babes x

Thanks babes.

I've nearly done the Scouts now and some pics will follow. I started on the Reivers and have planned them like this..

I've given them a single blue pauldron as per the Scouts and a bit of camo to further link them. They are just giant Scouts really so wanted them to look similar. I do like the idea of some markings on the black armour though, maybe like the flashes on the OG GW Kasrkin?

Really love the camo on your scouts and upcoming Reivers, I particularly love the sniper scouts that have gone full on Rambo with their face paint. The head swaps are simple, yet effective and thanks for clearing up the yellow head on the one Marine.

Thanks! I hate the Skull faces, looks too 'Army of 2/CoD' for warrior space monks.

Nevelon wrote:I never really thought about camo on reivers, but it suits them.

Yes I wanted them to fit in with my 10th Company force. Glad you like it.

ListenToMeWarriors wrote:Really love the camo on your scouts and upcoming Reivers, I particularly love the sniper scouts that have gone full on Rambo with their face paint. The head swaps are simple, yet effective and thanks for clearing up the yellow head on the one Marine.

Thanks! It's yellow as it's off the 'Imperial fist' from the Space Marine Adventures (or something) box that nobodies heard of (where they are fighting Necrons) but I'm reliably informed the models are ported from the Japanese set. I love camo Scouts and think it's funny that the sneaky infiltrators wear white jump suits in the stock paint scheme.

Speaking of Scouts (and camo)...

The Kill Team is complete! Titus 'Sargent big axe' Pullo.

Heavy Mack 'I'm gonna have me some fun' Smith.

Now the cape is painted it look less crap..

Scout scout, with 'hold' hand signal..

Sniper sniper, slightly reconditioned from an old paint job..new bush looks better and new style gun camo..

That's all the specialists, this guy is a non Sniper sinper. Also an old job tarted up. I think now I should have re done the face (instead of just adding eyes) as I think the new style face paint is much nicer...still have to draw the line somewhere..

Bolter part of fire team, these guys got more mud and chipping added as well as a bit of a facial touch up (lucky them)...

BP/CCW part of fire team (or 'cannon fodder'), ready to knife stuff up...

I'm happy with these dudes, I would have liked to add another layer of highlights in some areas but they are already markedly better then the other 20 I've done and whilst I did redo large bits on those guys whilst doing this KT I have to stop somewhere..They have been a great project and I will do some 'all together' pics; probably of my whole 10th Co. force. I still plan to try and do a 1k game with them all (including the new Reivers too hopefully). I'm doing them next (as you've seen) and have received another of the 'Conquest' ETB sprues that I will press into service. More on these guys next time (ish).

Thanks for all the comments and hope you like the KT.

xx

Nice finished squad. Do you have a KT army list for 100 points of these guys? I’m still a little fuzzy on what would play well and looking for options.

Made in gb
Pyromaniac Hellhound Pilot

Bristol!

Yes

Specials
Leader (sarge) Shotgun, 11
Sniper Camo Cloak, Sniper Rifle 12
Scout Shotgun 10
Heavy (gunner) Camo Cloak, Heavy Bolter 15

Fireteam
Bolter dude x 2 20
BP/CCW dude x 2 20
Camo Cloak, Sniper Rifle x 12

100pts

You can go 2 pts over and add a Power Sword to the sarge. Some of these options are illegal technically but we see it as more of an Index/Codex split. H'Bolters can get camo in the Codex whilst only M'Launchers can in KT, the only seeming reason is that the sprue comes with cloaks only for the Launchers. This is pretty arbitrary, also sarges in IG can pack most options whilst Scout sarges can't? The basic IG sprue doesn't have any fancy kit on it. But it's up to you how draconian you want to be.

How are the shotguns working for you? I’m a big fan of the looks, but I think they translated to KT poorly. At least from the wealth of experience generated by my one game. But the -1 to hit for long range kicks them square in the jimmies. It seems like of you are only going to be effective within 6”, you probably want a knife, not a boomstick. Or just go with a bolter.

They are possibly not worth it, they are cool however. Within 6 you do get 2 shots wounding on 3+s vs T4 which is pretty good (unless you are T'pau) and with the ability to advance and fire it too...It's situationally better vs T4 but you are generally better off with a Bolter. My Scout has one as he has buffs to advance moves and my Sarge because he looks cool with it.

That's them alright.

When not off Kill Teaming they can relax with their buddies in the various squads they get cherry picked from. Here is my 10th Company force all together..after this I will stop posting pics of Scouts I promise, I will post pics of Reivers, totalllllly different..

That's them all so far, the Reivers will join them once completed and I imagine that will be that for these guys..

Short ranged squad with shotgun/axe Sarge, 2 shotguns and a heavy B. The guys have BP/CCW. Also the Newly gimped Land Speeder Storm, these used to be great, now less so. Doubled the points, removed the DS jammer and gimped the blind grenade launcher thingy. They do move 18" though.

Medium ranged dudes in front with BP/power sword Sarge, shotgunner and another HB. The guys have bolters. Long ranged scouts in the back have all snipers and a missile launcher.

Man himself.

The old paint jobs on the other troopers did get a bit of retconning to more modern standards which helps as some of these guys were painted very early on in this armies lifespan.

Next up as mentioned is the Reivers, I've got another sprue of them so I've 6 now. I've built the next 3 and done some more painting work on the ones I started. So pics to follow on those guys. Then also hopefully a game using them all at once (with a few helpers to bump the pts to 1k), the Scout squads themselves weigh in at 450pts plus LSS and Telion going to about 610 I think. That's with cloaks on only the Snipers as they are stupidly expensive (and T'pau can just wave a wand and negate it anyway).

I do like Scout bikers, more than normal SM bikers but not enough to bother getting any.

I've been doing more Reiver stuff..

I found a nice dark gray I forgot I had and did a layer that's reasonably imperceptible here...

Faces have been started and most of the other colours based..

Greens have been highlighted..I will do another layer but I'm waiting on a paint delivery..

I used a blue gray (Vallejo Sombre Gray) to do the first layer of edge highlights..

But I never felt it was quite working after adding another lighter gray as the final highlight in a few places on this guy I decided it was the wrong colour and made the painful decision to paint over it all and redo it in another gray..sigh..

Codex Gray seemed a much better fit, I'll do a tiny bit of a lighter Gray too....

I got the other sprue of Reivers too..planned out here..

And built here..I've replaced all the heads again and endeavored to make them look different to their counterpart..

I've my auctions for the spare Conquest stuff ending tonight and I'm hoping Calsius goes for some cash, I'd be happy if the Poxies and DG go too.

Hope you like all the stuff.

Slowed down a bit but here's a bit of work on these guys..

Redid the Gray highlights on the other 2...

Faces are nearly done too, need to tidy up his head stubble..

Unsure whether I should do the same chips and mud on these guys as their little cousins? Also should I do the same face paint?

I will add another layer of green highlights, the paint arrived today but otherwise these dudes are nearly there..I might do an Intercessor squad next so I can field a big boy KT. I'm tinkering with a conversion for a AGL as I don't have the full sprue and I think it will be fun. I was planning on doing a M79 type of thing..

I thought the stock of this spare sniper and the barrel off a IG GL....and....

FUSED. I decided to keep the strap. It might be a bit long but a lot of that is bluetack and I may trim it some more..

Let me know what you think!

I managed to finish these dudes..

Tidied up the face a bit more and added chipping and scratches, also facepaint (but not of a tiger or Spiderman)..

I think they will supplement the 10th Co. troops well..

This guy is the nominal sergeant but I've not added any rank insignia (I usually do sarge bars) as it makes it easier for the enemy to pick off leaders (and for me to mix and match guys as needed)..

This guy looks pissed, you would not want to spill his Mrs's pint....

Even if I'm biased I think the head swaps and camo/infiltration scheme lends a lot to these models that I outright ridiculed when they were released..

These guys are supposed to invoke terror? Maybe it's the colours clashing on the Sergeant..

Small amount of chapter colour and badge...

Last guy so far..

Looks like he means business..

Camo!

I've never seen these guys in a list or BatRep so they apparently suck but I've enjoyed doing these and I will definitely use them in KT soon.

In other news I accidentally bought this:

Whoops! Got to be more carefully with my clicks (and then filling in my address and credit info)..

A box of reivers is on my short list of things to pick up. After watching you, I’m thinking bare heads and camo is the only way to go. Looking a lot better then the stock kit.

You swapping the Eldar away, or tainting your soul with contact with foul xenos? I really want to like that box, but there is a lot of it that I just don’t really need, so I can’t justify picking it up. And that’s from someone who plays both halves.

Yes I think Reivers can be built a lot better. I've now got another 5 to do something with.

I was tempted to keep the pointy ears, they were my 1st love in 40k around RT era but I found myself owning a lot of SM so thought I'd stick to that. When I decided I wanted a 2nd army IG were looming large in my Imagination and I've wanted an army of them for ages too. I'm trying to not get a 3rd army so I have manfully put the space elves on eBay.

I didn't get Dark Imperium so I had no Restartes, I initially hated them (like most things that are new) but after owning some from Conquest, I've softened on them a bit. I can see how the proportions are more SM and the OG SM do look a bit out now. A lot of the Primaris kits can be built in a less goofy way too.

I hope they become part of the 'fix' needed for SM and if they become the only part of the fix I would like a few already. I also think they will be fun in KT, they are only 3pts more than a Tack in that pts system. Sign of things to come?

I can see why it won't offer much to you as the stuff is stuff you have already have really, still it is good for me. Selling all the Eldar and the LT I hope to make back all my outlay which was only £71 from the excellent Dark Sphere. I wouldn't pay a lot for these guys but will happily take them for free. The limited LT is nice but can sell for £20, I've a spare body from the Conquest lot and some new bits from WtD so I'd rather build one, with a Stalker too as I think that would be better than a power sword. Why can't he take both? The restrictiveness of the Prim load outs is a big turn off for me.

Anyway TL;DR. Thanks for the comments.

I’m still learning KT, but the primaris seem to be doing well for me there. Intercesssor sarge with a power sword as a combat specialist is a murder machine. But even the basic guys are solid troopers.

I think the biggest thing holding them back as a model line is the lack of gear options. The no model, no rules thing blows serious chunks. But it does leave a niche for old marines to fill, so I can’t complain too much.

The thing with the Wake the Dead box is that I just bought almost all the content separately. If it had dropped last year at this time I’d have snatched it up without a second thought.

Surprised you went with Primaris of any kind though, I thought you'd be a die-hard lil' marine collector forever.

Yes I surprised myself. Getting some through 'Conquest' let me own some and see them first hand and then WtD was such a good deal I got the Restartes out of there for the cost of the eBay fees. I've about 6-700pts of Primaris now for about £10-20. So whilst I wouldn't spend loads on them, nearly free I will take some.

Something has to 'Make Marines Great Again' and it might be Primaris in the next book so I wanted to have a finger in that pie and I've come to like some of the models. I think built and painted differently the Reivers look good and I always thought Intercessors were ok. feth aggressors.

I can also see how 'Classic' SM do look small and out of proportion now too. I've 2 squads and a standard bearer to do to finish off the 3rd Company and that will be plenty of dudes for any circumstance. Having another Co. of Primaris would be the next project, though I've no desire to make a whole Co. just some squads.

I hope to be able to do some more modelling soon, it's just been half term and the homunculus has even been away; however, I selfishly decided to just be ill in bed all week instead. Maybe I can do some if I ever get better.

Are you pleased with heads/faces on these guys? I think they're some of your best and give each marine real character. Perfect for killteam obvs.

I'm with Stompa (hello mate) in that I'm surprised at your creeping embrace of the Primares. Especially the flying ones. Still I'm sure you'll make them look ace when the time comes!

Looking forward to seeing more of these guys and getting done over by them in games.
