The engine actually runs. Now Cam needs to work on the transmission

Why am I reminded of this http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_CCKW ?

The grill might need a bit of touch up. Try using something cylindrical? Make them vertical instead of horizontal?

Not where I should be

Thank you guys, yes I am nuts and yes Red I am happy because that is exactly what i am going for, a future "Deuce and a 1/2". Not had chance to do muchtoday so far, but sitting down now, but I have some good news....

A friend rang earlier today and asked if I wanted some old models he was throwing out. he nows I do models but not sure if I wanted his dregs.

Now they are not all complete and some are not even there but other bits are. My son Loves WWII figures and has sat down to do some of these with me now, which is rare and AWESOME. But a lot of the "bits and pieces" and several of the kits I have claimed for my own use. The more complete tanks unfortunately he wants and because I want to encourage him I am letting him have. I have grabbed several spare arms as the hands have great posing that you just don't get with GW.

So it is like xmas early for me, even if the wee spud has grabbed the best of it, I am very happy. To be honest even happier as he is sat down with me.

Back later with an update.

Progress looks good, but I liked your previous post better!

Great haul - early Christmas indeed! -, but sitting alongside your son to work on it is the best possible side of it!

Cheers!

Cheers,

Just a little bit, added some details, but mainly here are a couple scale shots, thoughts appreciated, ie true enough for scale?

Scale looks good, and I like the new front grill too.

Maybe a ladder of some sort for driver access?

Ladder?? How about some doors?

Yah, grill much improved. You've scaled the truck to the tires, or so it looks. A step-ladder like those seen on the cabs of 18-wheelers/semis or some of the larger earthmoving vehicles seems needed. I think those tires might be something close to 4' in diameter in scale. They are big. Or consider some sort of running board.

Nice to here Camkierhicito ( li'l Cam) and you had some fun with the models.

Looks good Cam, a ladder like littletower sys and and some mud guards.

I can't put my figure on it but something seems off to me about the bonnet. I think it might be how it connects to the cab or it could just my jealousy over your scratch build skills coming out.

Looks much better and the front grill and looks spot on and we don't need doors think dukes of hazard

Nice haul especially if it was free, plus quality time is an all round winner

The field kitchen kit I own too... You have yourself a fortune in plastc sitting there...

I would make a deal with your son here...he can play with the lot of it and you can make the whole into true awesomeness...

Your truck looks very good scale wise...what I am currently finding a bit hard to understand is the pointy shape of the bonnet. My own two scratch built halftracks both have a flat middle section...since in rl the bonnet is able to be opened from both sides I expect some trapdoor details there no matter the shape? Hinges and stuff? Also love the flat bed roofing skeleton, the slightly malformed tubes add a lot of realism to the model...will you add a tarpaulin to it?

I see the truck is driver on right, makes sense over there in UK-land. here the diver would normally be the left hand side of the cab, the MG ring area is a good touch, truck will need the step-up parts with such huge tires, and a good pintle mount for the heavy stubber, or storm bolter.

That's a seriously good haul. I'm green over here.

Nice progress on the truck.
Can't really add anything that hasn't already been mentioned. Keep at it.

Ta,

@ LT Thanks, and see below, ladder ........check!
@ Gits Good point I suppose.
@ Red, Thank you and hopefully you are also answered below, I would also say, I agree completely about the tyres being big, but GW tend to be off, and I have made this thing with the intent of it being a desert type, now I am probably well off, but big puffy tyres are maybe better on sand?
@ JoeRugby Thank you sir, hope the bonnet looks better now, and mudguards to follow promise. (might have to paint something silly on them.)
@ LDD Thank you, am glad it meets your approval, only thing with the DoH approach, there is bullet proof glass in te windows!
@Vik, Thank you sir, see below for some of your answers, the tarp will follow also, but going to make it removable I think. And the kits are awesome, I am secretly and very selfishly hoping they will bore of them after a good while, and I can get my mitts on some of them, but we will see, like I say, it is great that it has got there interest.
@ Shas Thank you on all counts, indeed see below also, oh and of course he is on the correct side to be driving! Where else!
@ Dr. H Thank you. Indeed I will sir, you are personally responsible for the detail I am going to plow in to this silly thing. Though i am sorry, cant be asked to do the interior on this one.

OK update, few details added.....

Head lights....

Bonnet catches and hinges....

Doors with steps and handrail to assist ....

And a little handrail on the back...

And a rail for the pintle mount....

Thoughts as always appreciated, and thank you all for your great support.

The realism is taking over handrails, steps and guards 40K health and safety officer gone mad no all looks great and love the working drop back that is cool indeed

The only thing is at this rate there will be no need for hazard stripes in 40k

bonnet is looking amazing, the tarpaulin is very convincing and I love the rolled up entry... and the ladder is functioning as a door and ladder ???... I used up already amazing... so I guess it is either incredible or spectacular... I vote for both!...

Bloody hell did you use melted PC for the tarpaulin if you did that was a hell of a challenge with nice results

Dang! those touches are adding to that truck! Proof of why you are a major member of LoER!

I also note the riveted windscreen frame!

So very good.

The connection between the engine hood and the cab seems a bit awkward though. Perhaps add something to create a line to show where the hood might open?

And some sort of hubcap detail? Separate the front windshield into 2 panes-- like the orginal deuce and a half? Exhaust pipes?

Although I suspect you are already on those details

Really like this one.

So a bit more to do, but before that supply drop, ordered up some stuff from OneManNoodle, arrived today in great time and I am a very very happy chap. Couple Rhino's and some odd details for some of my work, some of which will be on the current project.....

Right, back at it for this evenings stint, probably not much tonight bit tired, might call it a night early, but then I will probably just do a bit, "oh and got to stick that bit on now, and might just put a lick of paint on that and oh bugger it's 2 in the morning and I asm up in 3 hours..... "

Later folksies.

lol... donĀ“t you get the yelling at treatment from your wife to prevent you from being up all night? but I know what you mean, my most productive work flow moments have all begun with sticking "just" two parts together...

is that dark arts products done by noodles?...cooool... to make the track section as an actual one- piece is a good idea... saves a lot of time!...and I see some really cool detail pieces in that bag... the front grill of a future truck for instance...

OOOOoooo..... now that is some glorious tarp!! Top job fella!

And a very interesting bag of goodies! As always I am sure they will be put to good use in one of your creations!

Oh... and yes...late night inspiration and "quick sticks" .... can be very damaging to a productive day job... lol
