Thanks, Yorkie!

No, not Contrast. The pale green is Sybarite washed with Druuchi, highlighted with Sybarite and then a rough 50/50 mix of Sybarite and very old Rotting Flesh. Blades are P3 Gnarls Green washed with Druuchi, hit again with Gnarls, then Army Painter Greenskin, then GW Warboss Green, then a touch of P3 Necrotite Green. Who names these things?

The blue is Talassar Blue Contrast over a white base coat. I take zero credit for it's efficacy.

Long on motivation, short on time, has been the name of the game lately. Have managed to wrap up the next two members of this first squad and build the last two. No fluff update today. Brain not working.

And the next two:

Couple things. How great is it that ALL the Harlequins hold their swords in their right hands and pistols in their left? I LOVE IT. Pro-tip: I don't love it. Thankfully, Wyches shoot from the right, and I was planning to mix weapons anyway, for a less regimented feel. Like each member owns and maintains their own gear. And it is ALWAYS a good time when the minis have all of A TOE to attach to the base. What is this, Relic Knights? Hobbyist problems. We shall overcome.

Thanks for looking! Hopefully not so long of a wait for the next update.

Amazing again, this force is going to look stunning all together. Agree that Talassar is wonderful stuff, such a great addition to the range.

Triple Digits!!!!! And good to know that Contrast works so well with these, it really is a nice effect on the cloth. And hopefully you will prevail in the battle against weird modeling by GW

Great work on the first pair, the second pair already look cool. Can’t wait to see the squad of them ready to dance in to combat!

Great work on those guards. The Talassar Blue Contrast looks stunning and gives them some proper alien space suit flair.

Hello there.

Well, I'm back. Had a bit of a thing there with a home renovation that deprived me of my access to my painting space and minis. Longest I have gone without doing hobby things, I think, for years. Don't like it. Takes the wind out of the creative sails, big time. Combined with a rough year-end at work, holidays, and my own bag of mental health tricks, it didn't take long for The Doubt to creep in. Felt disconnected from the hobby. Looked at the forum less. Doldrums in full effect. Makes it hard to start up again. But start again, I have. Ready to finish off the House Guard, and have assembled the rest of the BB box set into a Blitz Bowl team so I can play with my friends and all the teams they got for Xmas. From me. But first, along with this being my first year keeping track of how many minis I painted (blew my momentum there at the end, oh well), but my first year recap. On with the minis, in roughly chronological order.

Dreadball Coach

BONES Owlbear

BONES Stuffy Dolls

A big one, long in coming. Ghost Knight

Wizkids' Optimus Prime

Ganesha Mushroom Reaper (which I designed)

Dark Age Suzy Belle

Song of Blades and Heroes Swamp characters, converted from Heroclix

Gender-bent Namor from Reaper

Tinkerbell from Reaper

Warzone Blessed Vestal Laura

A Dreadball and a trophy

Malifaux Wendigo

Rifleman Dread

Artist's proof version of the Reaper

Malifaux Hoarcats

Relic Knights Betty

Malifaux Sabretooth Cerberus

BONES canned beef

Malifaux Gunsmith, Frost

Dreadball Teratons, The Tartarus Thundershells

OG Space Hulk Terminators and Stealers

Blood Bowl Treeman (old)

Nolzur's Beholder

Lelith Hesperax

BONES Mushroom Queen

Warzone Brotherhood Troopers

Malifaux Silent Ones

Ainoa from Confrontation

Imperial Fists Terminator Captain

Rifleman Contemptor

Hayley Barrett from Limbo Division

Malifaux Ice Dancers

Deathwing Terminators

Malvernis force for CAV

Jugger, the Zoat and Kram'agk, the Gyrinx

Siubhan Marbhadh, the Reaper

Exodite House Guards

Fun times. I am very much looking forward to getting back into it and interacting with the forum more often. I missed it. Best of luck to all of you in the new year. Thank you very much for all the comments and compliments you have left. Keep building, keep painting. And as always: Thanks for looking!

Sorry to hear your strugggle for hobbytime and motivation. Glad to see you are back on track.

What a most impressive summary of your models from 2020! Hayley and Lelith are my favourites. At least I guess so, because there is such a high quality painting everywhere and also diversity of models chosen from various franchises. Also like the consistently high quality of photography.

Wishing you a successful 2021 with sufficent hobbytime, motivation and loads of interesting models!

That is a big pile of well painted minis.

Despite the downturn in motivation towards the end, it still looks like you had a really productive year!

Glad you are back on track YWS, you are my personal favourite blog to catch up on.

One hell of a years work both in terms of variety and high quality. It is very difficult to pick a favourite but I think that Optimus Prime just pips it for me, no mean feat given I have no real affinity with Transformers.

Best if luck with it all.

So many hits! What a collection. The wendigo, the rifleman dread, the Mushroom Queen, that beholder! But my favourite has to be the OG Space Hulk termies. That's a paint job working overtime to freshen up a pretty of-its-time sculpt (to put it politely) Fantastic work.

Brilliant collected works, and a style that's really your own. It's all the more impressive when you consider that the cheap-and-cheerful Bones/Wizkids minis look every bit as good as the higher quality pieces. I've nothing against those lines, the Wizkids ones especially can punch well above their weight in terms of detail, but even so that's no mean feat to get them looking that good. The Beholder is an absolutely terrific standout for me.

Amazing work. All of it; no lie. You’ve painted a vasty diverse selection of minis to an incredible standard. I might not comment frequently, but I follow what you are painting, and am always impressed.

Life likes to throw all sorts of crap at us. Motivation comes and goes. This last year was bad on a lot of fronts for pretty much everyone. Keep doing what you need to do to make it through. But keep sharing what you are painting, because it’s inspirational.

Hang in there, and best wishes for the New Year.

Highlights for me are the tattoos on Suzy belle and the eyes on the Beholder

As all the others have said, well done on such a diverse and well painted bunch. Zoaty has to be my favourite (will you be getting the BB one?) but I have a soft spot for all of the terminators that you’ve done too. Good to have you back on the boards, and hopefully 2021 will see lots more painted minis!

Really great scrolling through the year, very wide range of miniatures and color schemes. Next to the Zoat the old BB treeman is probably my favorite, old sculpts with current paintjobs almost always look great.

Wow. Thank you all so much. You are all far too kind. I greatly appreciate this response. And favorite blog, ListenToMeWarriors? I am flattered.

Looking to start the new year off at a run (with stumbling later, I am sure, possibly falling flat on my face) and having some extra time, I have jumped on the Blitz Bowl team like me on a pizza.

Was looking to Contrast these quickly, and I did. They are all painted and in the varnish/basing stage. Hope to have finished pics this week.

Thanks again, everyone. Thanks for looking!

No Contrast. That is just an underwash of 50/50 Druuchi and Lahmian to deepen the shadows a little. The paint scheme is Xmas themed. Red and green, garish and festive.

Thanks for sharing the year in review, as I mentioned in gobert's thread I'm sure it takes a minute to compile but it's really fun to scroll through your progress for 2020. Blitzbowl Team looking cool, I like the ghostly effect. A few weeks ago I picked up a pot of Druuchi Violet after seeing you use it a few times, it's low-key my favorite shade at the moment.

My painting log is full of snakes

Loving all these year in reviews! Truly great work, and such a consistent output across a real variety (in terms of manufacturers, models, formats, sizes and quality of sculpts). Far too talented!

Thanks for sharing
