When facing the myriad combos a Chaos player can field, what do you prefer to play against?  Would you rather play against one of the 9 named legions in the codex over a home brew legion?  Say someone plays their own legion and has their own color scheme, but just uses Black Legion as their rules basis, any qualms?

The reason I ask is I've got oodles of EC stuff but realistically will never get to painting it as an entire army. It would be easier for me to paint them as a part of my DIY chapter, The Crimson Legion. Everything is WYSIWYG, but just curious to see what some of you folks think about it. Doing it this way allows me to paint a squad or two and actually have them see the tabletop as opposed to my bits box.

As long as its WYSIWYG I would have no problem with it. I am sure most sensible gamers would not have a problem either

Well, I agree with things being WYSIWYG. Other than that, paitn however you like. I hate loincloths and headdresses, so my "imposter thousand sons"  are just normal marines with black armor. if anyone gives you any guff, just say that they are marines that got tired of thier previous Lord and formed their own successor legion.

Thanks for the comments. Every time I look at my models with Sonic Blasters/Blastmasters, I keep thinking they are 'supposed' to be brightly colored. I guess I'm just engrained from years of fluff. Got to get painting.

Paint your miniatures however you like them.  They're yours, and you paid for them.  You have to like your army.  If everything is WYSIWYG there's no good reason to have a problem.

Honestly, if someone has a problem because your marines with Sonic Blasters and Blastmasters aren't painted EC colors, they're probably not really someone worth playing with.
