Played in a RTT over the weekend and the overall competition was great. Let me say before hand that my intent in playing in the RT was to see how my painted GK's would do in the painting category I have previously won three overalls and winning was secondary. I still went 2-1.
My List at 2000pts
1 Grandmaster Psycannon and hammerhand
3 squads of 6 GK's with 2 Psycannons each
2 Squads of 5 terminators with 2 Psycannons each
1 Land raider Crusader and 1 Landraider both with Stormbolter upgrades.
My first match was against a World Eater army
1 Blood thirster
1 Daemon prince
4 squads of 8 berserkers two with fists, one with chain axe, one with chains for summoning a thirster.
1 Landraider
1 predator destructer and 1 annihilator equivalent.
I basically deployed as far back as possible with fire lanes. I concentrated fire on one Zerker squad at a time and wiped him down to two functional units the first two turns. His first two he summons his Thirster and finds the range to charge my Crusader which is pulverized. My next turn I shoot then charge the Thirster with terminators and bring it down and shoot down more zerkers. At this point in the game I would say I definatley had the upper hand but in turn four I made the critical mistake that cost me the game. Instead of pulling back and shooting for another round and withstanding his Daemon prince charge I lost it and charged his last three Bloodletters who I all but wiped out in the shooting phase. I wiped his Letters out and preceded to sweep into his prince with my Grandmaster and a squad of terminators. This then allowed his remnant Zerker squads to make it into combat. If I would have stood by my mantra of patience and shootiness I belive the outcome would have been a lot different. My opponent Dave even stated at the end of the game that he was shocked that I charged in. Great game overall and after speaking with Dave found out he also has won around three or four RTT's himself. Out of time but will try and give an overview of my next two matches later.
