This is what got me back into Marines. You have some really nicely painted stuff Eggroll, just found your thread today. Your robe looks superb on your Combat squad.

Thanks.

Thanks, I hope to finish something before end of this year.

whalemusic360 wrote:Looking forward to seeing the new kits in Eggroll fashion. Have you done other projects in the last year and a half, or taken a full sabbatical?

Hey Whalemusic! Been away the whole time as I switch jobs about 1.5 yrs ago and I've been really busy. I've only had the occasional time to buy and build. I've also done other projects outside of the hobby including building a fully water cooled mini computer. Build log here if anyone is interested: http://www.overclock.net/t/1548940/build-log-the-eggplant-evga-hadron-air-w-water-loop/0_100

So not much to show for my first real project log post of the year. I'm in Montreal at the moment for two weeks as my fiancé is doing a course here. I had ordered the Betrayal of Calth box set the previous week along with the BA upgrade pack and newly released chaplain. They were delivered to my Vancouver house while I'm out so unfortunately I haven't been able to do anything with them. I did however discover a GW store here in Montreal within walking distance of where I'm staying so today I made the trek and bough another BaC box set and BA tac squad. Will at least allow me to assemble some models for the next week!

You've seen the size of his collection, yes? It looks like Eggroll isn't going to stop painting BA until he can field the full Chapter...

And I for one say bring it on! Can't wait to see what you do with the HH guys!

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see it. I have one box myself but I'm gonna paint the traitors as Death Guard so I can actually play the boxed game

Paradigm is correct...all 60 will be blood Angels along with the FW models i've been stock piling.

When are you going to take some army shots of your BA?

Blimey! That will be an impressive sight!

As for mine, ha, I was going to do that wasn't I?

I currently have part finished:
- Dante
- a Sicaran
- a Deredeo
- a Vindicator
- a Stormraven
- some other miscellaneous items

When I've finished that lot I promise I'll take one

After that it'll be the new Chaplain model, my own Betrayal at Calth box, some FW Heresy stuff... A Blood Angels army truly never ends!

Yes - been trying to kitbash some stuff in with the BaC kits though most of it will be minor as the tac squad only has one chest and leg that's mk4. Still I wish I had my complete bits box with me here in Montreal but I'll do what I can for now and the rest I'll do up once I'm home with my 2nd BaC box set.

Cheers and thanks all for the warm welcome back. Looking to dust off my airbrush soon and try to remember my painting process. Hoping it'll be like riding a bike and it's a good thing I have most of it documented here.

I'm sure you take off where you left. Looking forward to seeing the new additions.

Lots of folks gettting more into 30K. No Xenos and odd power codexes. I'm waiting till the war on terra before deciding which chapter to take up arms with . I hear the BA Primarch will be the next FW one to be released!

I really have missed your painting Eggroll! every so often I go back through the history just to look at the models again

Had no time in 2015 to really paint anything for my BA but that will change in 2016. To kick things off I'm going to paint up this bad boy who has been built and primed for the past year...

I've got the model all magnetized so interior and all the bits will be painted as well. Definitely will take me a bit of time to complete but this model definitely has my painted motivation started.

OH-I Wanna get out of here

That's a collectors piece now, the Lucius is oop.

Thanks guys. I was really torn between the Mars and Lucius before but ultimately decided on the Lucius because of the angular edges which I think fits in with the SM armour better than the rounded plates of the Mars. Since this is such a big painting project and I'm getting back into plaiting after two years away, I'll be going slower and documenting the process a bit more than the previous models from before. No more prime pics followed by final light box pics anymore

Anyway, what I've posted so far shows the model primed with the trusty red primer followed by airbrush of shadows and highlights. I've also started to pick out some details in black as well as airbrush of the head which was done with orange built up to yellow on a black primer base. Took a few coats to get even coverage but the airbrush makes things easy. I've still got all my old GW paints from before which are now oop as well. Once they run out I'll be switching over to Vallejo model air paints.

Here's a shot of the progress at the start of today's painting session

And here's a shot of the legs which I ended up dry brushing and then picking out details with brush using tin bits and bolt gun metal

Things are still a bit rough at the moment as I plan on shading the metals with airbrush. I'll also be trying out oils for weathering and pigments too. Stay tuned...
