I hope this is the right place for this question:

While using army builder I noticed I could put an Aspiring champion (sorcer of Tzeentch is what I wanted) in a unit of Mutants, but I couldn't find this in the rulebook.

Can someone clarify?

Codex: Eye of Terror, p43 (or the second page of the PDF version) under the "Number/squad" section for the Aspiring Champion entry.

In short, you purchase up to 3 Champions as a single HQ choice and attach them to units (such as Mutants) before the battle.
