One thing, though, is that a spanish "rodela" is not exactly a buckler, in the sense that over here we differentiate between "rodela" (relatively small, arming shield, about 50 to 60 cm wide, not gripped in the fist but strapped to the forearm) and the "broquel" (your usual, fist-gripped buckler, basically a loan word to specifically refer to those). Kind of the same way over here a rapier is split between the "ropera" (which is where the term comes, actually, and means "dress sword") and the "estoque" (which is what people mean by rapier, funnily enough).

As a general thing, a rodela is more a metal round shield than a buckler, metal and usually curved on the inside.
So a "rodela" is smaller than a heater shield (about 90 cm), and definitely smaller than a Norman kite shield (but they were no longer in use by the 16th century). In the absence of proper terminology, it would be a "small" shield if only by comparison to what the mounted knights still used at that time.

Those shields depicted on the minis are definitely of that larger rodela / rotella style, though, rather than little bucklers, so it's not really a big deal.

FWIW there's some evidence for use of that style of shield alongside spears too... so that's another option worth considering when assembling.

Naah, due to size limitations, our ground scale and bases are already very distorted. Having Pikemen have a 2,3 4(?) inch extra range in front of them makes this even worse. Thats the range of some firearms and skirmishers in many rulesets...
I have some 64 Macedonian pikemen, based for Impetus, next to me and they can go base to base with the enemy due to how the pikes are arranged

Still, all good with the spaniards

my solution for those kind of units is the leave the first line empty to have some extra space to use "attacking" formations while still be able to place the unit in contact

If I had tons of pikemen I would not be concerned by circumstances that mean that skimishers can't actually engage them from the front without being within the stand-off distance of my pikes.

A little bird told me Grognard Command and Heavy Support and Eisenkern are in the warehouse in the UK now so we are shipping everywhere - worldwide - this week for those sets. And in other news the French Resistance and British Riflemen are going to be shipping from the Australian and US warehouses both by the end of the week but a little later for UK/EU.

You sure that guy is from the boxer rebellion and not an upcoming line of a radicalized furry militia?

He looks sooooooo cute.

I'm off to do some research because I want to learn about that unit.

But only after I've explored my three Grognard heavy team boxes that were waiting for me.

The muskets seem a bit lacking on the Prussians but look like they’ll work for bulking units as intended.

Maybe the paint is throwing it off but they look a bit wavy and the barrel/stock definition seems shallow. Just me being picky most likely.

I wouldn't worry too much about it. Those are 3D prints, and the bayonets were exceedingly difficult to print as I understand it. I painted the prototypes by the way.

The end product plastics are always much better than the prototypes
