And boy is it purty.

If you pick up a Warmachine rules set, make sure it's Warmachine: Prime
remix, as it includes all the rules changes. The army units in the book are
still only the original ones (you still have to get the expansions if you want
to see the rest of the armies and their expansions in their entirety).

I played in the Warmachine Tournament only to go 1-3. To my credit, the
only person I defeated was a high school kid. Take that, adolescence!

I was underpointed because I was an idiot and wrote my lists on the spot
but neglected to pack the number of miniatures that were on my list. So
I'll just claim a moral victory.

The rules for the tournament were Primetime, which means only units from
the original book. So every player felt the hurt without their armies' cooler
and effective choices.

I did win a prize, though " style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://www.vapidtransit.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif" /> Overall winner won a coin while best in faction won
a coin for their faction, and second best in faction won a patch.

Guess who played the only other Protectorate of Menoth army at the tournament? " style="vertical-align: middle;" src="http://www.vapidtransit.net/forums/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif" />

I also signed up for the six week league, joining a Protectorate of Menoth
3-man team called Angry Monkey.

Wooooooo......

Cool.

I got Remix last week. I like it! I loved using my mechaniks as a cheapy 'jack marshal (for the destroyer, natch), and Sorscha's Swoosh nerf wasn't that bad. I also love having the errata right there (especially when I tried out the OW for the first time!) and having all the merc contracts.

I find that most of the stuff I use is from Prime/Escalation, and I don't seem to suffer that much. Sure, I love my greylords and Kovnik, but I'm still happy with my Winterguard and Juggernaut as well. I think I'd really enjoy a "Primetime" tournament...

So, who was the other POM player?

Guinness: for those who are men of the cloth and football fans, but not necessarily in that order.

I think the lesson here is the best way to enjoy GW's games is to not use any of their rules.--Crimson Devil

KHADOR FTW!

I started with hordes, but I picked up Remix (hardcover) and a Khador battlegroup! It is very nice having all the rules right there, along with the Erratas, and the little tips at the bottom that also clarify how alot of effects work.

For me, it seems like a 'mek for the Destroy and Sorsha with a Jug and Mad (COMBO SLAM FTW) backed up with some widowmakes and a manhunter!

The other Protectorate player was Kevin. Very pretty purple PoM figs.

It was Steamroller 3.0

Match 1 vs. Cryx
Kreoss vs. Evan's Magnus group (only merc faction allowed for the tournament)
Scenario: Invasion

Objective was to hold two objective points simultaneously, one near my deployment
zone and one near his. A key to his clearing the point was his using Eiryss to phantom
bolt and his ghetto arc node to channel spells against my models on top of it. I tried
to launch a cleansing fire against her, but only managed 4 damage boxes. Magnus
feats, and retreats to his point while Eiryss or his warjack go for my objective.

Match 2 Cryx
Severius vs. Victor's Iron Lich
Scenario Assassins
Victor was frustrated by the fact that he had to assassinate me but could not due to
Severius's Divine Ward. And when I used Divine Might, the Iron Lich was left open to
the Hail Mary pass, a Revenger running around the backfield channeling two-three
boosted immolations. I did just enough damage on the last spell to win the scenario.

Match 3 Cryx
Severius vs. Joe's Skarre
Scenario Mosh Pit
I brought a gun to a knife fight. I had to stay in the circle, but he had too much on
and in my face. My priorities were also kind of skewed. I should have focused on dropping
the Bile Thralls first, but the bone jacks and everything else were sitting right in front of
me so I went for them instead. Big mistake. Two-three purges later (in the same turn, no
less) and a feated, boosted Skarre bomb and I was out of it.

Match 4 Khador
Kreoss vs. Rob's Vlad
Scenario Pendulum
I should have brought a 2 zealot unit and full unit TFG list to handle scenarios like this (both
of my lists were jack heavy because, well, I like jacks). I was jammed up everywhere, so
finally I had to use Wrath of Menoth defensively. Knockdown almost everything, trample
infantry and run my Revenger around the knocked down units to try and stay on his side
of the table. However, he had JUST enough gun from both Jonne and Vlad (even with Lamentation
up!) to disable my damaged Revenger, which was my only unit across the centerline.

Actually, Game 1 looks like Mercs, not Cryx. And I think you meant brought a knife to a gunfight ;-) Or brought Sevvy to a Skarre party....
