I do love the Sylvaneth Wraithguard, it's just such a smooth design. That little bit of green stuff goes miles to blending the smooth wraith head with the detailed wooden body!

Very nice! Little bit really ties it together.

I noticed he had some shelf fungus on his chest. If you want to mix up the organics on the heads, maybe a little growth on the side of one?

Thank you, guys! I feel it should do the trick.

Quit it, you. (but that could be cool. maybe just for one...)

Don Qui Hotep, they are based on the Kurnoth Hunters.

Heh. I’m full of bad ideas for other people to do.

Honestly, my thought process was “what design elements from the bodies could be carried over to the heads?” The vines was the easy one. But it’s the nature of organics that you don’t really want to hit the same button over and over again. It’s good to get a little variety in. Life will find a way. So when looking at the excellent and effective vine work, my eye caught on the little fungi on his chest. Carrying those up to the head would be another thing that could work. And probably not hard to do. Just make a few little disks, maybe trim the contour in the back to fit the helmet, and stack a few up. How hard can it be?

It’s just scratch building details out of GS. No big deal.

That tiny, tiny bit of greenstuff has such an enormous impact! Ties it together so well. Love it.

I agree with Nevelon that putting fungus on one or two instead of vines would also be a nice little bit of variation. Only a little bit, not anywhere it would disrupt the smooth line of the head overall though.

Though guards may sleep and ships may lay at anchor, our foes know full well that big guns never tire.

Hello, everyone. Thanks for the comments! Things have still been very slow. Weird mental blocks. Trying to get shake off dust working on the slag ball and an old Heroclix mod I started years ago and decided to get out of my sight. It has a Heroclix level paintjob. Not sure I will even take a real picture when it is done. Should probably count it for the year. Anyway, quick WiP of things to hopefully come in the near future. Thanks for looking!

Everything alright? Not your usual regular progress.

Thor looks fun and that is a Mandalorian lying around beneath him, isn't it? Is it printed or from the Legion game.

Gotta echo gobert, hope the blocks will pass!

Thanks for the comments, fellows.

No, Cap'n. I wouldn't say things are alright. Somehow I missed March, and April was a slow, slow start. Just had a funk? I dunno. Spent some time over the weekend getting back to it. Keeping the ball rolling, as it were.

Thor is hot garbage, but he's done. Glad to not have to look at his bloopy, half-finished puss anymore. And the glue ball is done. Need to get some better pics, with minis milling around.

World Spirit? World ender? Ruins of the Citadel of Lamps? Who knows.

And that is indeed Boba Fett from Legion laid out by the Odinson. Also working on that Judiciar.

Thanks for looking!

The OSL eldritch glow really fits The Ball.

I feel that you need a set of objective markers a/o scatter terrain of little research stations/sciencey stuff to go with it. What is it? Why is it here? Hold objective #3 to find out! Works for pretty much any game system and helps forge that narrative.

Excellent work. Keep your chin up and moving forward. Hang in there. Life is unkind to us all sometimes, motivation and energy comes and goes. You got this.

Love the spooky glow on the floaty ball. A very good execution of the concept

Thank you, guys.

Quick WiP pics of what's going on and a couple sad contributions to the finished minis total. Thor and the coin from Blitz Bowl I completely forgot to paint.

Still a couple things to do with Judiciar's head, and the rest of him is moving along, but nowhere near done. At least I'm painting.

Thanks for looking!

Now showing more Samurai Marines, Bad Squiddo Amazons, and an Oldhammer Chaos Thug!

Thanks, everyone!

JoshInJapan, yes. This is a replacement for the horrendous TabApp Heroclix sculpt that came with the dial. It is the original HC Thor from the Clobberin' Time set with a new head and an extended haft for Mjolnir. Was riffing on the legend of Mjolnir's forging, sort of a What If thing. An extra HC anvil object for dynamic leaping action and lightning from Electro finish it off.

IGtR=, it is just Gulliman Flesh Contrast over white. It will be the Judiciar's head.

Keep the faith, brother.

You're not alone. I find myself super motivated to paint something, only when I don't have time to paint. When I clear my schedule, I spend my time staring at my cluttered bench, moving things around, switching projects, or setting up a palette but barely painting anything. It's impossible not to underestimate the mental strain of the changes to our lives over the course of the last year.

If you're ever in Colorado, hit me up. We'll sit and stare at our paint projects together.

Your guilliman flesh always looks amazing! I must be using it wrong. If the head is owt to go by the rest of the Judiciar will be awesome! Hopefully he inspires the mojo to return and the return of some normality isn’t far off. I know that I’ve been suffering a distinct lack of time and focus with all the crazy in the world. I guess we have to bear in mind this is for fun, so take a break if it’s not. Conversely when times are tough it’s good to find a little slot for something we enjoy. Chin up and keep up the good fight against the pile of shame!

Ooh! The glue ball looks interesting. Nice work on the OSL effect.

I second gobert that I've never achieved such results with Guilliman Flesh, good job!
Then again, I've only ever tried in top of darker tones. Gotta try white next time!

Looking good!

I love the results from guiliman flesh. So simple, but such results. I still manage to screw up the eyes, but the rest of the faces are easy now.

Gulliman flesh gives good results. I find it usually better over small areas but used it on a whole Vargskyr recently to decent effect.

In spite of the rut it is great to see you still active and posting on here. Keep it up and the mojo is sure to return.

The giant ball of doom looks pretty groovy.

I continue to be jealous of the results people are getting with the Contrast paints, that's a great face!

Love the more detailed pic of Thor, he looks so happy at Mjolnir. And another poor Judiciar who will not get his normal head I believe I've seen one on this forum, who used the standard head. And you can't force the hobby mojo, it will come back when it wants too, but one can nudge it a bit

Hey mate, hope all is well. Thanks for keeping us updated! Slow progress can feel like no progress at times but we are always our own worst critic. You're still getting through things, and the things that you're getting through are quality!

Love the ent-y wraithguard, it's a very cool concept to add to your already awesome exodites. Sleek and natural with a neat aesthetic.

Libby's face looking aces, your flesh is always super impressive.

Really love the alien ball as well. It is really starting to resolve itself. I can picture it being the driving force behind a claustrophic sci fi alien thriller that gets mentioned all movie but only revealed at the end. Neat job on the OSL. Is it metallic? Is it organic? Hard to tell and I love that.

Keep at it mate, always love stopping by!

Many thanks, fellow enthusiasts. The support is greatly appreciated.

Judiciar is assembled (scraped some paint doing that, will need to be more careful in the future) and just needs the servo skull painted. Have started painting the Wraithguard. Kids painted more, too. Hope to have pics soon!
