Oh yeah for sure they are better then relic knights and such, but when you compare them to a high quality resin cast the gap is the same in the other way.
But i am 90% painter and collector and 10% gamer so this affects my emotions alot.
It would be my dream for them to recast everything in resin or metal and i would gladly pay double the price.
As you said the design is truley unique and every faction is different. I Still check out the releases och save the images to my wrath of kings folder because i love the designs so much.
In my opinion they went for the gamer more so then the collector and painter.
It just make no sense to me when they had such great artist that are known for quality.
It reminds me when rackham went to pre painted plastics and suffered the consequences.
But i respect that you guys and others may have different opinions. If somebody keeps buying them maybe they could re-release those resin versions they had of a few miniatures pre-kickstarter.

It was not that they just went to prepainted plastics, they completely changed the game. That can do you more harm than the miniatures changing. GW used to have some of the worst models on the market in their old days (I still think that everything but their hobbit/lotr line is pure trash) I believe fully that CMON is targeting gamers over painters with WoK.

I really like WoK -- have a Nasier, Hadross and Gorsti force. Nasier being my primary/largest Not many play here, but I am trying to change that

I saw this game at Adepticon this year and I was impresed by the look of the models. Very unique. However, i had already spent as much as I was willing and wanted to check the LGS. The LGS has basically every game that isn't dead on their shelves and they have been around for a long time. Wrath of Kings was on one small shelf on the back wall - this shelf was also low to the ground. To me that means that game is just about dead (at least in my area). i also asked one of the people that worked there about it. He said that he had bought a starter, but opened it up and was so disappointed with the quality of the models, that he packed it right back up and sold it in the net store auction. He said that the model quality was worse than the Reaper Bone line. This is what has prevented me from buying anything from the line. I spend most of my time painting and very little time playing the games, so I really can't make a leap into a game like this. They really missed the boat on this. Really great idea and design, but if only they made them out of metal...

I'm not prejudiced, I hate everyone equally

Saw them too at Adepticon. Really nice looking and great paint job. Like you, much more modeling for me than game playing. Not sure about the quality of the models, but support and quantity of the fluff I a driver for me. GW and Privateer have a great universe they created. The industry is hard to crack- just look at At-43, Confrontation, a lot of the Spartan stuff, the original WarZone, etc.

i don't understand that at all personally.
I've put together a teknes starter and several special characters and found the quality to be great.
there was almost no flash at all and the models were designed in a way that hid the joints quite nicely.

i hope you take a closer look because the models that i have seen are great.

I've said it many times (in this thread even) the models really hold up pretty well.

I'm a blah painter, and if I'm able to bring out lots of little details, they can't be that bad.

Certainly far better than some of the earlier restic lines such as Relic Knights or Deadzone 1E.

Also with Wrath of Kings, the bigger the figure, the stronger the details- but that hold true for a lot of larger figures.

Newer releases have also improved on what came before, so keep that in mind. The new Shael Han animal generals look quite nice.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Are all the figures resin? Or metal? Or resin/metal?

Not a big fan of metal after many drops of metal Slaan on Palanquins, Kroxigor and Skink units.

Edit: Never mind the question above. I just read they were plastic. Shows a little homework on your own might go a long way lol.

I think the minis are good quality, but I like Bones and Finecast, so my judgement is questionable. Still, the Fulung Devourer is such a great mini I'll eventually get a second one. My only complaint about WoK minis is that they are all based on artwork by that one French artist who makes everything distorted on purpose. If you flip through the AT-43 books, he made all the ugly paintings. Because of him, the Fulung Devourer looks like it has a goiter.

Pish posh to that my good man!

I love Edouard Guiton's art for precisely that reason!

Then again I'm a big comic book nerd so take my taste with a grain of salt...

gotta say, I am a big fan of finecast (but i will only buy lotr/hobbit from gw anymore) I love confrontation. I also have to say that the WoK are some of the nicest minis I have ever bought, but its the rules that really got me. This game is that damn good.

Getting more and more interested in the game. That Shael Han faction is looking pretty good. I really like plastic too. That's what the minis remind me of... Confrontation!

the Shael Han are alot of fun, they do a lot of synergy with their folks, but the Fulung devourer is a blast to have on the table I love the single mini at a time (or order a group) mechanic, that keeps it really a skirmish in my mind. The game does scale up very easy too. AoS could have learned a lot from these guys.

They do have some neat stuff coming out as well. The starter has some good solid units. The wrath are among my favorites, especially when I back them with a fulung
