I noticed how lascannons can destroy a tank in a single shot but manage to only kill a lowly guardsman or just a wound on a monsterous creature and how absurd it is.

  I suggest that weapons that have the Beam trait wound the target as normal but if they want to wound a 2nd model they do so at +1 requirement to wound and continues until you fail to wound.
 
  Ex. 1 lascannon fires at a squad of guard. It needs a +2 to wound the first guardsman, then as the first wound is made, next would be  on  a +3 and +4 and +5 and etc until you fail to wound a model.
 
  This would make balance out against monsterous creatures that can be killed in 1 shot just like a tank and would make min maxed squads take a few more men to prevent from dying.

   Each race basically can get this on most of their weapons

Imperium: Lascannon
Eldar: Brightlance
Darkeldar: Dark lance
Orks: Zzap gun
Chaos: Lascannon
Tau: Fusion-blaster/Ion-Cannon
Necrons: Heavy Gauss cannon


these are based off of the beam trait in mongoose games.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.

This fix is needed why? Because we never see lascannons or dark lances fielded?

If this was implemented, there would never be much reason to take anything else. Other than assault cannons, which also happen to be good at everything.

I think it's great to leave anti-tank weapons as inefficient against troops.

You know what's great against Nid MCs? Plasma Cannons and Ordnance. With the FAQ'd rule about placing blast markers so that the center hole is *anywhere* on the base, you can nail MC walls and get 3 models wounded at once. Works great on Tyrants + Tyrant Guard.

Agreed on all points.  And on the above, I didn't know that actually, I always just centered the template over the base's center.  Huh.

kinda sounds like the blow throw effect from warlord too much where you defeat the first person DV(defense value) then just add 1 too the next model unit it doenst wound any one. If you do that too beam weapons why not too double strenght weapons too ( such as krak missles, melta guns, plasma guns and rail guns,etc)

Don't think it would make much sense though, as the laser weaponry is described as a burst of light that superheats a target so fast that the change in temperature vaporizes it.  It isn't a beam its a quick burst.

No way, no how no need. The Lascanon is an anti-tank weapon and should remain so. as already mentioned, there is no need to make it good against troops too.

If your rule was to make it into print, there would be no reason to use any other weapons. Bad idea.

In real-world military situations, dedicated anti-tank weapons are rarely effective against infantry and vice-versa. Anti-tank rifles of WW1 and WW2 (which, in my mind, are what lascannons represent) do nothing to a stop advancing infantry. Sure, you might utterly destroy one or two, but you've got plenty more to worry about that will get to your position before you can reload. This is the way anti-tank weapons work in 40K as well.

Sounds like a return to the sustained fire rules of 1st edition. They got rid of those for a reason (although they tryed to bring them back in 3rd with the swooping hawk and striking scorpion exarchs). Regardless as people have stated, makeing anti tank weapons really good at killing troops unbalances the game in a major way. Keep the anit tank stuff anti tank and let the light guns be good at killing troops.
