You can see it up on GW:

T=L lascannon, plasma cannon, Assualt cannon. CCW arms on the other side.

I dont quite see some people's distaste with the dreads legs? I never actually liked the old piston-legs before, cause in my mind it made no sense how a dread could've ran in that. Atleast with this new Deff dread, it actually sorta looks reminiscent of the ork boy that's in it. The legs are of a similar posture to ork boys, not to mention the hulking shoulderpads and what not.

Just one complaint:
FLASH GIT?
FLASH GIT?
It cries out for a prosthetic "s", and in the darkness there is much weeping and gnashing of teeth.

The fact that i am going to start a dreadbash list makes these new releases all the better.
The new kan and dread models look amazing! I just hope the kan models are just as small as the previous ones

Hardly anyone uses them anyway (like LotD, yet they decided to release enough models to make 2 unique squads of them). I do like the sculpt though, and will probably pick one up just to lead my Shootas.

I figured its just personal taste , i mean some people see it ad killakan and want some legs that makes sense.

While others see it as a walking garbage can that is literally junk walking around with some sort of Ork magik.

That thing is just silly!

A missed opportunity to get the other weapon options on the frame too. WE didn't need another twin-linked lascannon or missile launcher, but we could have used a twin-linked autocannon... or two!

First of all, since when was the imperium ever efficient technologically? especially when it comes to engine exhaust? A venerable dreadnought chassis is going to be hundreds, if not thousands of years old, wouldn't it make sense for it to have an outdated engine block i.e. 4 exhausts? Regardless, I think they should have gone with an exhaust system similar to the throne of judgement (ornate stovepipes) from the witch hunter range.

Second, why not just buy autocannon parts off a bit website and replace the assault cannon? simple enough enough conversion. Truth is, not many people use autocannons on dreads, they lose a lot of close combat viability in doing so, and GW simply may have overlooked it, because their feedback on marine players may have taken that into account

end rant/opinionating

That venerable kit already has some of my converting buddies chattering away- feel like i should share a choice idea: cut the barrels off the lascannon and use them for the godhammer barrels on land raider sponsons (those of you who want more ornate looking weaponry on your landraiders- sounds perfect for both pre and post heresy players).

First, technology was MORE advanced in the past in the Imperium.

Second, I was KIDDING.

Third, WHY would GW release ANOTHER version of a twin-linked lascannon and missile launcher when we, you know, already have them in plastic? THAT was my point.

Me and some of my miniature buying buddies are chattering away - GW is losing sales on this inferior kit. It could have, and should have, been so much more.

Still, if people vote with their wallets, we'll see fewer dud models (Venerable Dread in Metal or Plastic), overpriced box sets (Goldswords, Bestigolds, etc.) and such.

We'll see though!

200% agree with Alpharius here... and you were a bit doochey with him even if he wasn't kidding. I for one would not pay for this kit, yet another marine dread with the same bloody weapons, an Oscar the Grouch head and yearbook 'have a good summer' armor plates.

That being said, it is perfectly alright for you or anyone else to feel differently about the aesthetics. But rabidly defending GW's slowed decision to re-hash the weapons is completely non-sensical. If you are defending them because you like them so much, why not realize they would sell MORE kits if people bought them for the bits options instead of going to forgeworld or bothering with conversion or bits ordering? It would have been better for GW to provide something there is no GW model for no???

I don't think people are that upset that they arent piston legs, I think it's that the legs look like bent paperclips, no articulation, no spread, not powerful looking at all. In fact, and forgive me here I know this looks horrible and that I am being a total bastard, but more than anything, they remind me of prosthetic running legs...

NO OFFENSE MEANT, DEAD SERIOUS THIS IS WHAT THE DREAD LEGS MADE ME THINK OF RIGHT AWAY!

I can see a bit of a simalarity between the Kan/Dread legs and that picture MajorTom.
That being said,I'm happy that the Dread/Kanz have finaly been done up in plastics, the metal Dread/Kanz have been one of my chief complaints about the whole Ork line,so "tink tink" legs aside,it's good to see the kits available.

Ok thank god you see it too lol...

I actually think the kans and dread are pretty awesome overall, as you say, it's great to finally have them in plastic. Even the dread legs arent that big a deal, easy fix with some rods and clippers after all right?

Just a strange design decision... ork personality seems more likely to design something very stompy and opposed to 'ting ting' lol

Exactly, the legs just don't seem "brutal"enough, but not a huge deal,as you said,it's an easy fix with a bit of choping and some "gubins".

The fact that the Venerable Dreadnaught is shipping without the DEFAULT weapon option in the codex is just absolute 100% pure fail.

I mean, you can argue about whether you want auto cannons, or a missile launcher or something for your dreadnaught and whether these should be included in the box, but we can all get behind every model being shipped with its DEFAULT codex weaponry, right?

As it stands you cannot field a venerable dreadnaught out of the box without spending extra points upgrading it, it's absolutely stupid.

What's next? A Lemun Russ kit with everything except a battlecannon?
Buy our new Space Marine Tactical Squad! Bolters not included, please see forgeworld!

Infuriates me so much. I dont even understand the reasnoning, as not only is it the DEFAULT option for a dreadnaught, its also one of if not the most popular option.

The Deff Dread and the Kans look fun.

That Flash Git though, I don't know. He just looks really, really plain. More a Shoota-Boy with a double barreled shotgun than Flash Git with a proper Snazzgun.

While I somewhat agree with the criticism in a less dramatic way, I don't think it's a disaster or a fail. Then there's the fact that every few years they change default and optional upgrades for these models and when that occurs what was put on a sprue to match one Codex may suddenly not be current anyway. All you have to do is look at how some of the Tyranid sprues from 2004-2005 were designed and look at the newest Codex and you'll see a lot of bits that are still somewhat useful, but not essential the way they were when first designed by the previous Codex. Some things that were once hot items on existing sprues like Improved Comms bits or Track Guards for IG tanks are suddenly just cool looking dressing when the next book came along. Given the ever-changing nature of Codex design and game core rules, what's essential one day is optional or obsolete or just nice to have but hardly important at all another day, so I wouldn't get too upset about this. But I agree, it would be nice to have. Then again, it's nice to have weapon options that are not available in any other plastic Dreadnought kit instead.

I know it can change, but we wont see a 6th edition until likely 2011 if not 2012. (which will also mark any new space marine codex).
Its just slowed that NO kit comes with a plastic multi-melta, outside of AoBR.

I just dont understand why its so hard. They already have the sculpt for a MM arm. Is it really so hard to add it into the ven/normal dread box?
Its not even a bit option, since everyone who buys an AoBR dread needs the arm. Your only choices atm are buy an entire new dreadnaught to give your ven dread an arm, or order from forgeworld.
And if you are ordering from forgeworld, you may as well just buy the forgeworld dreadnaught while you're there....since if you take out the cost of one arm, the forgeworld dreadnaught is basically the same price as your plastic kit...

Look at the pictures of the sprues for the Venerable Dreadnought-- you don't have to have the battleground inlays or the new chest/head style if you don't want to. IMO this looks like the best Dreadnought yet, including Forge World.

I agree. The plastic Ven Dread is an improvement in price, versatility, portability, ease of building and conversion. And I also think the plasma cannon is a good bit to include on the sprue, it looks cool as is fairly game useful.

WOW. Love the new chimera. Everything is in there! All the turret and hull weapons, plus every add on that they've ever had. SO hot.

Basilisk? WTF? What a disappointment.

Am I allowed to complain about the utter lack of chaos anything now?

I dont think they'll release any plastic chaos dred till their next codex. By then it'll be so beautiful everyone will get a dozen!
because right now no one likes chaos's codex , so it wont be selling as hot to release one.

I already have 4 Deff Dredds and 3 Killa Kanz...

I may have to go for Dredd overkill and buy a couple of sets of each of those...

Hang on, £30 and £27????

That is a £5 reduction on the dred and an increase on the kanz!!!
