Soooo just as the boxes of unbuilt stuff on my shelf have gotten to a bearable sized stack I had to go out and order more stuff >.<
I've ordered everything I need for a 1500pt traitor guard army to compliment my forces of chaos ...
Now I'm going to need to spend a solid 2 weeks painting and building to get the cobwebs out of the corners before the new stuff arrives

Did you order a lot of FW stuff for the traitor guard or are you kit bashing and converting a bunch of regular IG minis?

I'm going to be doing a combination of both.
I have been collecting the FW torso's for a while now slowly.
All of the vehicles will be kitbashed and converted and I am really really looking forward to doing them!

Your new camera seems to have boosted the quality of your shoots considerably - I approve!
You have a mind bogglingly large amount of armies there, mate! I also envy the size of your gaming room, nice to see that getting rid of one's wife has it's own rewards (joke)
Are you slowly working on building up the details of the Aurora Chapter i.e. base coating all of them then detailing all of them?
Keep the battle reps coming by the way, muchos fun!

Haha! yeah the camera was a muuuuch needed upgrade!
Once I build myself a light box things will get one step better but that's not really on the short list.
Yes, I plan on using my aurora chapter as a testing ground for my airbrushing skills.
I'm setting up to do then with airbrush shading, washes, weathering powders and a few brush painted details.
I may even delve into the realm of OSL ! But that might be a stretch

The list I posted is primarily an armor spam list.
It plays the *how many efficient units can i get on the table in armor* game lol.
Seems to be a very popular tournament strategy these days.
Too bad nobody does it like GK's lol.... I would build that army but it would feel like selling my soul!

I made a decision today that my traitor guard army will be Based in a snow theme, similar to the plan for my Tau.
I just ordered a pile of very nice looking resin *snow* bases from Dart Art Miniatures.
Sexy stuff indeed!

Certainly seems competitive. Saddle up, etc. Are you going to play with gw's basing paint snow at all? Also, btw, Ifalba did some amazing snow effects on commission puppies recently, worth checking out her blog for.

Funny story, I was just reading her Blog
I'm not sure about the basing snow, I haven't had a chance to see any of the new range at all yet because I have been at work in the middle of nowhere for the last 2 weeks.
I was planning on using a combination of water effects, baking soda and GW snow flock. I will have to do some experimenting on terrian before I do it on bases

I'd skip the baking soda, goes yellow with age and you know what yellow snow means...
I haven't tried this yet but I've heard good things of mixing snow flock in with gloss, when it dries it will have a nice sparkly cold look to it.

SO just a quick update for today as I don't have a lot of my pictures from the last 2 weeks uploaded yet.
I got some fun stuff in the mal when I got home!
I also did a little bit of digging in my ultrasonic cleaner... I need to get on this and get the rest of my nids togeather!
I finished moving my Chaos over to the new shelves I bought. This is what it looked like 2 weeks ago:
I also fired up the old airbrush to try and get rid of some more of the grey on my shelves
The paint booth I bought off of ebay is a freaking life saver! It takes 100% of the paint particles out of the room!
I sprayed a bunch of aurora chapter
Then I went on a mission to change this:
To this:
I then went on a bit of an adventure in paint land.
I decided I really liked this colour from the new paint line and wanted to spray it on my pink horrors.
The challenge being that this is from the new *dry paint* line.
My first attempt at thinning left it clumpy and unsprayable.
I found not only that this paint was very pigment heavy but the medium that i sused to make it is gel like. Even after adding a ton of airbrush medium to it it still looked like this
I ended up having to thin it about 10:1 to make it sprayable.
I did on the other hand get some pretty good results once I did!
On a side note... I also found out that trying to spray *shade* (washes) is a bad idea. You get a nice even coat, but none of the wash effect as it tends to dry evenly and not seep into recesses as when brushed.
Once I upload some more pics I'll update again! Thanks for looking guys!

Thnx for the tip! I'll stick to snow flock for the most part I guess

I will upload some of the pics when I get a chance and show you guys
I actually can't wait to get painting! As soon as I figure out a good way to smotth out white pigment without thinning it until it's translucent I'll be gtg!

The next step up has variable frequencies. This one has adjustable temps (warning: 130 degree purple power is to hot, it pits the plastic) and can be set 5 min - 1 hour. ~95 degrees for an hour and it just falls off.
The problem I had with the other one was it wasn't sealed. The simplegreen vapors melted the glue bonds and shorted it out.

A few more updates today as I was able to upload some more pics last night.
I took a few pictures of a model that I thought looked awesome when I painted it 15 years ago
I was going for a coming out of camouflage look but looking at it now it could def use to have some details picked out.
I also did some work on my traitor guard. I decided to use the *renegade enforcers* as my sgt.'s and vet's
But I had to fill in the gaping arm gaps with some GS in order to fit standard arms.
 \
Typically for a lot of my GS shaping I have been using this as a tool.
I like using a wooden tool as keeping it moist in water means it doesn;t stick to GS. also you can easily carve it into any shape you need.
Inadvertantly while installing the flag pole through the hands of my standard bearer he aquired a mean looking beating stick!
and then shortly traded it out for a nice little banner... something about it being too heavy!
I picked up this model a while back with full intention of converting him to a CSM Sorc of Nurgle but I didn;t ever think he was the right fit once I saw it in person.
He will however make an excellent addition to my traitor guard!
Once I got all the arms sorted and glued on my guard I based them in a light grey and started trying to get a colour scheme down
I decided on a grey/white/black camo pattern and white acessories.
I blocked out the colours then used a thinned down wash to pick out the low points.
It doesn;t look like much right now but it will lokk a lot cooler once I have picked out the highlights and make the white look white again.
On a side note I picked up an 0.2 airbrush to try out (Iwata knock off for $10 on ebay)
here it is beside my eastwood brush
I also bought a couple more of these quick conncetors
They make changing out airbrushes and cleaning airbrushes super easy! The biggest advantage is that you don't have to crank down your regulator or turn off your compressor when disconnecting your brush as they will keep pressure in your supply line. They also provide a pivot point for your line so it won't get tangled
That's it for now!
Thanks for looking!

Looks cool. I totally get the idea of weathered white for traitor guard in fact exactly what I'd intended myself if ever gone that route. Consider shading with purple/brown inks for a worm-flesh look perhaps? Just my 0.02 (pennies, not cents!)
