That sounds fun all the same, I've always wanted to try volunteering for a con but I live in a small town so they don't get hosted here, I travel for the bigger ones but only as a guest.

Weekly Goal: last week made good progress, this week is looking negligible.
Cut spending: only picked up 2 models so not bad.
Monday post: yupers, doing good here.
Not angering the Daemonic Muse: came close to angering her. Very very close.

Progress is progress, even if it's just a little. Your week does sound busy but fun none the less.

Weekly Goal (21st-27th): paint all the things. More realistically Iron Bogz, Zipp, and Sparks.

It's close but progress IS greater than buying if I ignore KickStarters paid for in 2016 that should arrive this year and The Other Side which is claiming it will be here before 2018 but I doubt it. Unfortunately the chaplain didn't see much progress as I had to ok plans for him and sculpt grips. But progress has been goooood.

Woho! It's official! I'm happy with him, my friend is happy with him and EDC has confirmed we're not just total weirdos! Independent review is always good. Just a quick update today, Chaplain Noh'Nay'Muh has GLOW-Y, his base is sculpted, and Bloodfire has seen some progress.

Lotsa of good updates since I've been away for 2 weeks. Good to see progress is continuing, I do quite like that terminator chappy.

Termies did come out great, some good looking SW stuff there too. And I see a Haemy putting himself together there on the table, I'm super stoked to see that all done up. I'm actually just putting the finishing touches on my Haemy tonight.

@ Inevitable Faith, the Haemonculous (in future: H.A.M.Y.) is looking like good fun, and I love his semi-expesed organs. However I want the start of his entourage and ride first. He'll be shanghaiing the Raider from the combo box to carry his (eventually) 10 Wracks and (hopefully) a custom Grotesque. I'm really happy with the termies and need to get better pictures of them despite my anti-Imperium of Man tendencies.

@ Evil Doctor Cheese, He, He, Yeeeaaaah. about that ARC's paintjob. The droids required a dip in paint stripper and I'm only accepting of them as is. The ARC-170 "Shiny" is in for it's second dip before my third try. As for upgrades: Pilot is a mentally unsound dimension hopping bodyguard, co-pilot/weapons officer is a prepubescent sociopath force sensitive, astromech and tail-gunner are bloodthirsty droids with "issues", and weapon systems are whatever the pilot can get a hold of. In other words, no idea my X-Wing collection is officially shelf ornaments.

On the other hand, commissioned Vostroyan snipers just need bases, this months painting competition is well underway, loose papers are in the shiny new filing cabinet rather than taking up valuable shelf space, the full computer is back up meaning I can use the good camera again, and tomorrow I HAVE THE DAY OFF.

Agree with EDC it's all coming along nice and those snipers are a real standout.

Lets see, 7 bases and 1 puppy done, 3 more pups and the twins started, and progress on 2 wookies. Looks like I'm on track for the pups and bro finished and Shiny, the wookies, and sis worked on.

Very nice work, keep it up. What game is that bottom left model from? She looks interesting.

So, crazy squee loaded day, new albums from an awesome band arrived (The Midnight Contingent by Cheshire Moon, Acoustic and full band) found some wonderful ideas, and another "Failure" for my goals.

But the twins have had progress since the last update which proved bases, wookies, and pups were also under the brush.

And more good news, idea trawling:
1) Trawled through Mechanicum Jon's (sadly dead) Kabal of the Downed Gardens thread and found ideas for Grotesques and Khymarae
2) Found lambsandlions' Masque of the Shattered Prism which gave me ideas for painting Reaver jetbikes and lead me to Fallout Hobbies and their pretty stencils/masks and decals.
3) Meer_Cat's P&M Blog and his Sdkfz 251 conversion that I may steal to give the Draconis 42 troops a ride.
Svarg-it, now there's nothing to svarg about.
Boo-hoo.
Resolution time:
1) Every Monday I post: check.
B) Set weekly goals: Wookies and the twins, if possible the "Shiny".
3) Try to shrink the backlog (fewer buys & more progress): Didn't buy anything and pups are done.
D) Don't anger the Succubis: Only by doing a lot to negate possible complaints. Which had the effect of annoying me. I'm calling that no anger.
End result: 4/4 successes

Well I didn't buy in celebration...

The (Truly) FLGS has numerous tables, lots of terrain, no fees, and reservations have priority but aren't strictly required. I feel really guilty if I don't spend $10ish a week. So I got DE Scourges this week but I'm going to resist next week.

I really like what the steampunk wild west mythos nature of Malifaux creates and the sculptors do a great job of capturing the look and feel of it while keeping the figures roughly practical.
The basing method took some experimenting but i finally have it to the point I can keep it consistent. For the pups I took a risk and went blue basecoat>black drybrush>brown drybrush to try and tie them in with the blue skin of my nephlim while staying within sight of real dogs. I think it worked and I'm glad to hear that it looks good.

I know, just poking fun at how often interesting is used as a euphemism and my own hobby ADD. Because I honestly have 13 active forces (ignoring sub-factions and mercs) spread across 5+ manufacturers and 4+ systems without counting the 2 armies I have on order for Wyrd's new game set in the Malifaux universe.

My (current) 13th force officially gained active status when I dug through my bits last night and came up with these:


Taken together with H.A.M.Y. they constitute a (personally) viable warband. The scourges don't count because they're waiting to trade weapons with the rest of my eventual DE.

Local time is late so I'll go more in-depth later.

Ok, promises were made, and I need to ignore a mini for an hour so let's do this.

First off an updated WIP of 3 of my Wracks:


The 2 Tau based ones have been "done" for a year or 2 but when I looked at them for H.A.M.Y.'s retinue I realized the DE heads they had didn't make sense so they were swapped for Ghoul heads.
Fluff wise they're a pair of Tau he's just started on.

The LizzOrk has been glued up and is now awaiting green stuff shoulders and robe.
As for fluff H.A.M.Y. makes a fair number of pit-fighting trash, big mean looking brutes most wyches can take apart without much trouble but they make good spectacle. Occasionally he builds one too well and it lasts long enough he reclaims it as his own, LizzOrk is one of them. Recognizing only H.A.M.Y. as "Master" LizzOrk killed and stole a handler's rifle after butchering a human champion of chaos.



Naga was the first victim of a brilliant idea, Reaper Bones are cheap and easily obtained in the US. The wide variety and material make them excellent test models and conversion fodder.
Naga is going to have her 6 natural arms removed and her face drilled out. A warjack head, ghoul, beastman, and tyranid arm will fill the empty spaces. The ex-tyranid devourer will be combined with a DE cannon bit to make a heavy weapon for the Wracks.
As for fluff Naga is just one of those disturbing things haemonculi make. I mean seriously, who gives a scaly snake monster mamaries? Questions and accusations have been whispered behind H.A.M.Y.'s back but no one is willing to risk having Naga set on them to bring it up.



Drago is the first Grotesque and is going to be stealing the Nob legs to give him a hulking gorilla look.
Fluff wise Drago is an early work that just. won't. die. H.A.M.Y. hasn't ever bothered treating Drago's wounds but he just keeps on fighting.



This guy is an experiment that I'm thinking of (partially) scraping. I like the head/torso/robe combo and I like the design of the arms but I don't think the arms really work with the body. I think the arms will work better as auxiliaries on a Grotesque and I'll find something else to give this one.



Another idea I'm not sure of. Even if I remove the existing arms on this one I don't know if it'll work.

If anyone has ideas or opinions please do share.

Yaaaaaaay! I fixed the sister's dress!
Had some silver wind up where I didn't want it. She had been given a layer of dull coat prior to gaming on Tuesday and the silver so I used a q-tip and isopropyl alcohol to remove it. This caused fogging that water temporarily fixed. I applied a layer of brush-on Gloss which seemed to fix it while wet. The Gloss is dry now and the fogging is gone.
As I said, yaaaaaaay!

What a crazy variety of conversion CM, good job. One of the perks of having such an eclectic collection like you do is you're not limited to GW parts for your conversions. Looking forward to seeing it all come together.

@ Inevitable_Faith: Wyrd's minis are nice but but my inner Ha-Mek-ulous has missed GW multi kit compatible infantry and inherent conversion emphasis.

That said it was a screwy week.
