Cheers Graven and Syro. I'm enjoying the LotR stuff so far and just getting back into it after so long

I've very nearly finished my Mordor Troll and I have to say he's looking great. No tease pictures yet so instead I'd share a terrain project I just recently finished. This came together really quickly and the inspiration came when my stove top coffee pot's handle broke off. Instead of throwing it straight out I instantly got an idea for a little "gunk factory" as I call it and refused to throw it in the bin, much to the chagrin of The Warden.

I tried not to think too much about it. I cut a piece of hard styrene for the base, glued down the hull of the coffee pot and then opened my bits box and started slapping things down. Sprayed it black, and then painted just using heavy dry brushing and stippling.

Lovely weathering there, your rust is most impressive. Nice goop too.

Cheers Graven, friend gave me some tips for the weathering.

I've been ploughing ahead with my Pelennor Fields minis and finished off the Mordor Troll that came with the set. I'm very happy with this paint job. The skin was the biggest issue for me, to get that leathery troll feel, and he was sitting on my desk with just basecoats for a good week until the painting guide for him got released on the Duncan Rhodes Academy so that was a god send! Only thing I'm annoyed about now is the big leg seam. I usually don't mind those things as this is an old sculpt and I don't have any green stuff at hand(still packed away somewhere) but after putting in so much effort on the paintjob I feel I should have made an extra effort here. Anyway, lesson learned! I even started filing and properly mold removing the models I'm currently working on so it taught me a lesson if nothing else.

Now troll:

Yeah, Rhdoes's instagram is ace. When I have a really cruddy mould line like that I sometimes try to paint it as scar tissue, albeit with mixed success!

Small update this week. Finished off my old school durty bois. One on the far right was the original I did a year or so ago and I toned down the amount of nurgles rot on the new ones

Those retro guys are great alright. I still have loads of metal models I need to cleanup and I can't wait to paint them in future.

More LotR stuff now. I picked up the new Witch King model last week and it's a really nice sculpt. Paints up really quick and nicely:

Also had my first game in over 2 and a half years with a friend from my old work gaming group. A shop opened up near us so we met up for some Middle Earth SBG. We had initially planned for a 500 point match but then opted to do a smaller 200 point one to get to grips with the rules, and I'm glad we did because it's been a while since we rolled some dice. Will hopefully have another bigger game soon and will take some proper pictures
