I created a once-off Space Marine chapter to support me during depression times.
First attempt at NMM, which ended up pretty bad. But I still like this guy's message.

Nice work on a classic mini. Good message! Gives you that +1 on your Ld when you need it.

Finished with my entry:

Had a bit of fun with this one. As the banner of the 3rd company, I needed to put our trademark stabbed nid head on there somewhere, but my freehand skills are not up for the task. Luckily my bits box was. Had a bit of trouble with the transfers, not that it shows in this angle. His shoulderpad on the arm holding the banner is touching his backpack, so the first transfer I tried to get on would not slide to where it needed to go. The second one I cut the skull out from the middle of the laurals, so it could go around the contact point. You ever tired to get a “U” shaped decal to end up where you want it? Less then fun. Ended up where it needed to be though. Sister turned out pretty good. So much finicky detail. I could have done more, but she’s good for battle.

And some final pics--still amazed that 3 100w bulbs at less than 3 feet can underexpose an image, but here we are...

I just got that same guy as part of a bunch of minis that arrived recently. It's cool to see what he could look like painted. I like the color scheme you chose. Hope you don't mind if I borrow the purple/yellow/grey idea for a small patrol detachment at some point. I really like purple.

I've never actually attempted to apply a decal because I dislike the obvious circle of clear plastic around them when done quickly. I have watched a few videos on how to apply them and make that not show, so I have some understanding of how finicky they can be.

All done! 5 Pandemic fighters! A front shot, a rear shot, one with the three figurines with side-shot details to the side, and one with each mini next to their reference card.

Microsol/set are your friend. With the right tools, you can mitigate most of the issues with decals/transfers.

Those are the minis we need right now! Nice work.

My entry finished. The ubiquitous Rhino has always been a support vehicle as a transport in numerous Imperial Armies.

Made from a regular Rhino chassis, with some magnets and some Sisters of Battle extras and some old Bretonnian transfers thrown in.

So I decided to wait and see how I got on this month, but I’m making reasonable progress, so here’s the proof image:

Going for a bunch of scenery and objectives, because good terrain is a key support to a good game. Preliminary photo of the one fully finished piece, the servitor/surgeon/lamp, who also provides medical support I guess?!

That would be amazing if you used the scheme. The chapter should grow beyond my one mini.

A very late entry from me after a horrendous month. I'll have to paint like the wind!

I'm going to paint Greedo from Star Wars Imperial Assault. He of course played a small but hugely important Supporting Role in a movie long long ago. And for the record, he DIDN'T shoot first.

Some supportive civilians from a mining colony. While the children help by picking up lost armour pieces and other debris, the elderly gentlemen points out an obsolete imperial fortification, soon to be dismantled by his hard-working associates.

My trio is done. They may not be in the foreground of 40k, but without them new worlds wouldn't be explored, ships couldn't traverse the stars and GW would have no reason to reset the clock. So here is my Rogue Trader, Navigator and Squat.

Yes, yes! But what shall it be named? I would say the "Word Bearers" but that's already been taken. It would be pretty interesting since I have a Purple/Black/Grey theme WIP for my IG, so perhaps they could be from the same system.
Edit: I added a single 7+ year old picture of a Leeman Russ in the colors to my gallery if you want to see it. It's a bit... Well, I could have done better, though I was very proud of the rusty treads look at the time. I should probably get new pics to replace the one I added. It's not clear by todays standards.

Well, I think you guys know what I´m about to post......

Deadlines. They get me going, yet I´m often having difficulties making them.

Busy day ahead tomorrow, hopefully there´s some sealing time + shooting pics time. Otherwise it'll be Thursday morning. But, I do understand if you that's just too late for an entry.

Slipping in right under the wire! I honestly wasn't sure what I'd be able to get done for this month that fit the theme.

Proof pic. These are my Agents of the Imperium, led by Totally-Not-Inquisitor-Eisenhorn. Counts-as Venators for Necromunda. I figure all of them are supporting cast to help the Inquisitor achieve his mission(s).

My plan was to basically see what I finished and pick my favorite 5.

Well, I managed to get both Sisters over the line in time, assembled, painted, and based. The reversed color scheme will let me run them in two different Orders (should 9th favor such a build). The one from the army box (below left) went quickly; I assembled her completely pre-paint and she didn't have too many fiddly bits to get bogged down with. I'm completely satisfied with her lenses (my third attempt at those overall), and her Simulacrum Imperialis was some of the most fun I've had painting in a while. The other one (below right), which is one of two Simulacra you can build from the Sisters/Dominions/Celestians box, was a real pain... sixteen pieces to start with, which I assembled down to seven and then painted. The cage-and-casket did not appreciate being painted before assembly, and I had to accept some weird gaps and join lines. That said, she's an amazing model... I love the slung bolter, the cherub was a fun challenge (the brushwork on the wings was finer than I usually attempt), and I was really happy with how her face, eyes, and hair came out (y'all might remember that my Canoness from "Final Boss" left something to be desired in those areas). I kept catching glances of her from a low angle when I held the painting handle just so, and I thought it looked so cool I made that one of my entry pics.

A last minute entry from me, and not one I'm particularly happy with, as I only remembered last night hat I'd not painted anything suitable so he was a bit pf a rush job this morning. Been a long time since I painted any Infinity, but he was the only thing to hand that really fit. At least the streak stays unbroken.

Hi All

I've been finding life in lock down pretty tough this last month and feels like I've had almost zero time for anything other than work and kids. (which is why I still haven't done the league table yet, sorry)

Got a small entry done over the last few days, can't say its truly finished but close enough and now its midnight ill put the paintbrush down. Will get some proper photos up tomorrow

Great Greedo, felt! He has always been one of my favourite characters - Han shot first! - and you have done a spectacular job as always.

Sorry to hear that lockdown is tough going at the moment, Midgetgems - I can relate. I hope things are better for all of us soon.

My piece didn't really get finished but here it is..the window out to the stars needs a coat of gloss varnish but I've run out of it and time...ditto with the smoothing of the blends and details. I am still determined to keep entering each month but I need to stop biting off more than I can chew under the covid lifestyle.

Anyhows, here he is...the idea is that Espern here is the captain of his own ship and his two 'dogs' are his pets... I imagine him a little like a character in Timothy Zahn's Star wars books - Talon Karrde.

I managed to finish my Administratum Scribes just in time. I'm not too happy with the freehand "A" symbols on the robes, but I think I've slightly improved my skine tone technique (I managed to get some blue in there), so we'll call it a draw!

Joining the rest of you guys in the "Last Minute Club", here are the final shots of two of my favorite supporting characters from The Lord of the Rings (books; they didn't make it into the movies), Tom Bombadil and his wife, Goldberry:

Pretty happy with how they turned out, and they were super fun to do. One of the best things about Games Workshop's Lord of the Rings SBG (now Middle-Earth SBG) range is that they made miniatures of stuff that only appeared in the books, like Tom & Goldberry above, the Variags of Khand, and the various participants of the Scouring of the Shire.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000
Check out my P&M Blogs: ZergSmasher's P&M Blog | Imperial Knights blog | Board Games blog | Total models painted in 2023: 40 | Total models painted in 2024: 12 | Current main painting project: Dark Angels
