Hey folks,

Finished the remaining members of my Valhallan Kill Team and so the full 10 are ready to be sprayed and painted.

Got some fun ideas for snow bases.

Will hopefully do a test model tomorrow.

Sniper Ivanova, hey it took a long ass time to put that tab in her mouth.

Cheers all!

Welcome! Haha thanks. And yes of course, the forges of Labrunnia IX have created the Skorpio (Rhinorpius?) STC for all.

Pvt. Ilyich Putinski ready for duty! Strong enough to eat an entire Valhallan Snow Bear in one sitting. Takes his shirt off at the slightest provocation.

First test for my Valhallan paint scheme. Quite happy with the result, the base especially turned out well. Excuse the horrible exposure, I've been fiddling about with these photos for half an hour and this was the best result

I am not that great at taking photos so this will have to do for now.

The last shot is a pict recording of Putinski on the snowfields of battle.

Let me know what you folks think.

Cheers!

The mini looks good! At least it wasn't indecent exposure.

Looks like you're off to a good start, Olthannon - just a shame this Krieg squad boxed set sounds to be so pricey.

Thanks! I know they probably wouldn't be super duper camouflaged with nice blue pants on but I always try to have some contrast in my minis.

gobert wrote:Nice test scheme, the snow really came out well. Is it a homemade recipe?

Cheers Gobert, it is in fact a super easy one from Ye Olde Warhammere. It's just baking soda (Doctor Oetker if you needed to know but that's just what we had in the house ) pva, white paint and a bit of water. It's super hard to see from the photos but it has a great granular quality.

as hard as the Valhallans are I think they'd still freeze their knackers off in this cold!

Yeah I couldn't believe the price of it in fact... think I'll wait for a combat patrol

So just wanted to say a big thanks to all of yous for the nice comments I appreciate it. It's been a wee while since the last update, I know this because I had to scroll down the second page to find the blog. I finished painting the other 4 mainly on monday but I was too lazy and tired after work for the week so only did the bases and took photos last night.

So what I've realised is I am terrible at taking photos of my models

I think the smart thing to do would to take individual close ups and then string them together.

Maybe next time?

EDIT: also I've since reduced the shading of the greatcoats on the back!

Anyway let me know what you folks think!

Cheers

Those are great! I used to have some Valhallans back in the before time, but I parted ways with the Imperial Guard. Kudos to you- they're excellent.

Thanks Capt! I had a few within my main guard army which I used as vets but really I wish I'd kept the lot. Sadly they are long gone!

Quick update here as I've not had much time to do anything. I've done a bit of basecoating to the 5 Valhallans yesterday but that's about it.

Instead I thought I'd quickly put together one of the ork kommandos. Just a little headswap, I prefer the woolly hat on the "sniper". I have some gapfilling to do clearly!

Cheers.

Thanks Gobert! Finally got them all finished.

There's a few things I'd like to fix maybe at another time, I have individual photos of each model so I'm gonna look at a free photo editing thing just to string them together.

Back on the ad mech next.

Cheers!

Haha thanks! They are snow joke.

So I've been working on my skorpius disintegrator conversion.

Now I'm still calling it WiP but I could really do with a hand. In definitely needs something extra, maybe some decals or freehand but I would love some advice. What do people think?

There's a few areas of the metal work that need tiding up too..

Cheers!

It's looking very nice...
However it's a bit clean and bare compared to your earlier vehicles.
Maybe try adding more tools, boxes and/or cables?

Thanks Guardling, so a bit of filth and junk. I'm currently converting up a few bits and bobs for it now!

Okay I let the machine spirit look at some nudey magazines so it's filthed up a bit.

Touched up a lot of the metal and the servitor in the turret.

What do you folks think?

Ooof, you are naughty! It’s one sexy looking rhino/skorpius hybrid thingummy! Lovely job Olthannon, it looks much better with a bit of filth. Are you gonna add any bits on it? Maybe above the tracks?

Olthannon,

My only suggestion would be silver where paint may have chipped off to expose the metal underneath. Around the edges of hatches, steps, undercarriage, etc.

I'm imagining that as the voiceline from Fable.

Cheers CB! I've since added some more scuff marks, will take some more photos shortly.m Gobert - I do plan to add some extra bits but not entirely sure what just yet! I'd welcome any suggestions

In the meantime I present my Onager as it is so far. I still have the base to properly finish and probably a touch of filthing to do the same as the Skorpio but I'm pretty happy with it and the end is almost in sight! I need something to add to the shield on the Omnissiah standard but not sure on that. I tried to add a decal but it looked naff.

Let me know what you folks think and I'll post up the finished version once I've sorted the base.

Cheers!

Nice work on the dune crawler, the omnisiah umbrella is well painted. I quite like the idea of a barcode on the front of it instead of a unit marking

Ta muchly Gobert, I like Omnissiah Umbrella although I'm sure the tech adepts would have your guts for servitor garters for that heresy!

That barcode idea gives me an interesting idea but would have to see how it works..

Slight update here just to show off the finished base. First picture managed to capture a hideous furry daemonic entity viciously attacking the dunecrawler!

Thankfully it was later exorcised by the techpriests.

Cheers!

Good think the black beast was exorcised. My large grey four paws of terror loves to chew on the top of terrain and railings.

Cheers CB, she is very tricksy, keeps climbing into my light box and biting my models.

Hey so I picked up Eldritch Omens, went half with my brother and I'm pretty damn excited to get painting some Eldar. Eldar were my first 40k army (not a surprise as High Elves were my first WHFB) and I have longed to get an excuse to start painting them again. I considered buying some more Eldar when I started to dip my toes back into Warhammer but I straight up refused. I wasn't going to spend the money on models I used to own which were more expensive now. Anyway, with new models at long last, I thought I'd start some Eldar.
Still WiP as I have a few things to tidy up. The cloak took me a long time, it was originally white but hellsteeth it looked awful in the photos so I went for this darker grey which has turned out much better. I'm considering doing camo but also I quite like it as is. What do you folks think?

Still got a few of the jetbikes to go before I'm finished but I've made a start!

Oooh, looking sharp! I think camo would be too mon-keigh for the Eldar. What Craftworld are you going for? Saim-Hann or something else?
