Brilliant idea, sorry stealing this, though got to say masterful building, the legs are fantastic, and agree the shield is inspired.

Schank23: thanks. Had to look that up, watching TMNT has been a while, but I see the similarity

Camkierhi: we don't steal. We loot! Feel free, your blog is always an inspiration to me as well, so I'm happy to give a little back. Really looking forward to your take on these guys!

b-tone: Thanks! That's only page 2 or 3 though, so you still have some fun things to see

dsteingass: Thanks . Felt the need for some plasticard work, and these guys fill a fun niche in my army

Yorkright: I guess my bikers would look a tad different in that case

Since you all like the doomchickebns, here's two more!

Group shot of all three:

The two new guys:

And I upgraded the pistons on the legs a little. Hard to see, but I tried to add to the worky bitz:

I also got the old trukk out of the freezer , breaking him into useful bits for future use:

Those crew will be fine grot pilots with a head swap, and I'm sure all the other bits will se some use too .

Enjoy the pics!

That’s some pretty good plasticard+greenstuff building. The walker looks basically balanced and able to walk around, which is pretty difficult to do in that scale.

inmygravenimage; thank you . I think 40K needs a bit of goofiness, it used to be an integral part of the setting that got lost a bit over the years.

Gitsplitta: Thanks . The grot controllers will be having remotes similar to the lootas, and they'll be hiding between the chicken legs (and begind the shield). Like this:

Meer_Cat: Thanks. Put some thought into them, which always helps . I'm not saying it really could work the way I built it, but it might.

Camkierhi: Thanks . Not quite your level of detailing, but that's what I like about dakka: it makes me want to improve. I'm gong to build a small squad, and by then temps will hopefully have risen to a point where I can undercoat the little blighters.

gnome_idea_what: Thank you! I too my time studying the real chicken's leg movement, and since I also play mechwarrior, I studied some animations of chicken-legged walkers. Real-life examples always help getting a good image in your mind

Nothing too spectacular today, I did make a counts-as bomm squig:

Rather small compared to the the tankbustas, but roughly squig-sized. I liked the idea of them scuttling across the battlefield, making contact with their grenades (hopefulle shaped charges )and then scuttling of again - or not

I also have two bigger drones, which might be a good base for a tankbusta nob, but I'm afraid they'll be too far removed from the doomchicken look to be easily recognizable as nobs. So I might get the nobs to actually ride the doomchickens, should give rise to a few shenanighans . Here's the drone I'm speaking of

With some 'war of the worlds' like legs and a grot inside, it could make a fine mek as well. I'll have to think this one through a bit more, but I'm surely goign to build a few ore doomchickens, so that I have a small but playable unit.

Thanks Dysartes! I'm inclined to use the last drone fore something else than a tankbusta, since I'm concerned it'll be unclear it represents a nob.

here's how I would add legs (I'd add four though):

Feel free to mock mu poor drawing skills, it's no better irl.

The minigun in the middle folds out, so I could seat a grot behind it, or add him on top with all kind of doodads. I think this would be more suited for a mek though. As an alternative, it would make a nice 'stage' for the (sadly damaged :() da red gobbo I got in a trade, which could act as a banner bearer, inspiring all the grots.

For the doomchickens, I made my fourth regular doomchicken, I'll probably have the nob riding his chicken somehow and add a bosspole to differentiate him. Weapon-wise he's equipped as the others, sicne I don't think adding a PK/BC is a good option for this unit.

So, fourth chicken:

And a group shot of the work so far, with my dakkagrot standing in as a nob:

These guys are such fun to make, I think I'll make ten of them, with some scuttler-bombs to represent bommsquigs. By then the weather will hopefully have improved so I can undercoat them safely and start adding some paint

Amazing stuff, Commissar! I was sad to get to the end of this blog, but now I can follow it -- it's an inspiration for sure! A question -- how do you make your bolt-heads? I'm assuming they're made of greenstuff (since... they're green), do you have a mold or somesuch?

Yorkright: Same here .

Dr H: Thank you!

Llamahead: that's an interesting idea. never played Rayman, so I had to look it up. Maybe if I find some proper snotlings

Coh Magnussen: Thanks! You took the time to read through 50 pages of me rambling? I applaud your perseverance I used to make bolt heads out of slices of hexagonal rod with a tiny bit of regular rod on top, but these days I use the greenstuff mold from greenstuff world , who make rivet molds which are perfect for the job, not to mention their stuff is quite affordable. Not sure how much shipping to the USA would be though...

I finally found some hobby time this weekend (family stuff/budget meetings/ unexpected visitors, you know the drill) , so I can give you an almost done tankbusta nob . He still needs some detailing and gs gap filling, but that will have to wait a bit. The final model will sit a bit straighter, but he hasn't been glued on yet, adding a bit of a 'rodeo' effect

The 'saddle' is a biker seat, since I cut up the rest of the bikes to use throughout the revolution .

Missile launcher may be a tad understated though, not that I really mind, I like the cavalry feel of the model. So, opinions?

Llamahead, Dysartes, Yorkright: Thanks, and I agree on the molotov, see pics below!

schank23: thanks, 40k needs a bit of goofiness IMO. And the grots suit that role nicely

So, seeing the comments of the good dakka, folks, I agreed with them. The grenade got turned into a molotov, I'm still debating whther to add flames or not. I also turned his sword into a sabre, seemed more fitting for cavalry

I need to gs up a few gaps, but I need to let the model rest now, before messing up the work already done. Thanks for the inspiration guys!
