In a good way.

Thanks DoctorDanny, and welcome to my plog. I will most definitely take that as a compliment

As promised I did lots of dry brushing on my BSF terrain tonight and got quite a few pieces complete. I haven’t taken nice pics, so for now you’ll have to put up with desk based photos. There’s quite a few, mostly boring pics;

Most of the stuff was single tile today, and I think the outcomes on average aren’t as good as my previous stuff. I think that’s good with the turquoise being a little off, not being as green as the tiles. I tried mixing in some Sibarite green which helped, but it wasn’t quite right. The pink glow on the 3 triangular pieces at the end were a bit half-arsed too. That said though, I think the stairs are some of the nicest bits I’ve done, I’m really pleased how they’ve come out.

That’s it for today, I might do some more tomorrow or Sunday. Thanks for looking!

Yeah the stairs look very impressive. All of the terrain meshes with the card really well. The terrain itself is very cool and alien and your painting really adds to that.

Great work Gobert!

Thanks Not Online, perhaps I am being harsh, you guys all seem to like em!
Guardling wrote:Very cool, they're blending in well with the cardstock

Thanks, some of them match really well and others are a bit off, but overall should enhance the playing experience I reckon.

Great work Gobert!

Thanks Olthannon, the different layers of triangles really help, and give it that alien tech feel I think.

Thanks for the comments guys, it really helps the motivation! So much so, that I did some more tonight and I think I’ve now got all of the cover terrain done! There’s still plenty left as there’s a boat load of corridors, doors, elevators, and icons still to come. Here’s tonight’s offering, apologies for the desk only photo, I think as too tired and the rims were still wet.

That puts me well ahead of finishing 1 model a day, and amazingly equals my finished model count for all of last year! Admittedly these are really simple things to paint and it won’t last once I get around to miniatures instead of terrain. Still I’m going to bask in glory for a few days

Thanks for looking!

Bored at lunch I decided to take advantage of working from home and picked up the painting sticks. I didn’t have time to do any more terrain, so I pushed some pigment on to the first combat squad of Assault Marines for my Void Panthers. Nothing exciting just yet;

I reckon I might skip Bargain Hunt a bit this week and get these guys moving instead

Thanks for looking

I'd say probably best to give the terrifying apparition known as David Dickinson a miss! Not sure what part of the warp he spawned in.

Good to see the Void Panthers getting some painting action!

Definitely enjoying the perks this week, need something to ease the stress midway through the day.

I dunno where he spawned but if skin complexion is anything to go by Donald Trump and Dale Winton emerged from the same orange tear in reality!

Thanks Ezki, it was a fair bit of dry brushing for sure!
Warboss_Waaazag wrote:Ooo! I really like the BSF terrain. I've been thinking of doing something similar. All this is a huge inspiration. Looks great!

Yeah, do it Warboss! The TriHex Citadel stuff is really cool and paints up pretty easily. I need to arrange another game with my mate to test it out all painted up. Maybe I’ll try to finish the corridors this weekend

Another lunchtime painting session plus an evening painting saw this claw of Panthers, or would prowl or leap work better? Maybe Leap for assault squads, Prowl for tactical and Claw for Devastators? Hmm that was a different post to what I planned, but I like that, it might stick, we’ll see

Anyways, the Leap good headway today, I got all of the purple, black and Leadbelcher done then slapped some Nuln Oil over them.

I like how dirty they look at this stage, I might have to do a squad during the fall in this dingy state, maybe with some Plague Marine bits? Maybe highlight one up then do the Nuln wash to finish him?

Next I’ll get the jump packs to a similar state so that I’ll be ready for highlighting. I’m liking some of the jump packs I’ve seen online with glowing engines, usually in blue plasma style. Not sure whether to stick with blue or go for the green I use as a tertiary colour? Or maybe a nice hot red-orange-yellow-white instead? What do you lot think?

Cheers!

Yeah, warm colors for the jets. It will be nice with the rest of the scheme.

Panthers!

Also, I like the squad naming plan.

Yeah, I’m feeling the paint sticks at the moment and getting bits done most days.
Orange 1 - Blue 0 - Green 0

Hehe! The naming conventions growing on me too
Orange 2 - Blue 0 - Green 0

I dodged the Dickinson again today and slapped some paint on the Jump Packs. They’ll stay being mostly black with touches of purple and gold. I might stick on Chapter symbols to some of them too, but not sure I can be bothered for this bunch, maybe the Sgt?

Looking at the pics it’s hard to see the purple panels. I tried the front panel in purple and thought it deviated too much from the black theme so went with the panel just ahead of the gap between the body intake and the drum of the engine. Together with the gold pipe work it matches quite well with the aesthetic that started with the bikers.

If I do some painting tomorrow evening I think I’ll get on with bringing the armour panels back to Retributor gold ready for highlighting.

Thanks for looking, and I’m still taking votes on the engine colours

Thanks Captain, there’ll be a slight detour to the 7th Blackstone Fortress before I get back to them.
Not Online!!! wrote:Snazy Assault marines indeed.

Thanks Not Online, wait til their all blinged up!

So I decided to crack on with the Blackstone Fortress terrain again, getting the doorways, lifts and a corridor finished;

Though I now realise that I did t include the corridor in the picture! Oh well here is the progress on the rest of the corridors;

Once I’ve done them, I’ll have done all of the terrain for the core set, so I guess I need to get a game booked in!

That also tipped me over 1000 images on dakka, so to celebrate I got my Blackstone Fortress collection out for a bit of fun;

UR-025 lays waste to the forces of Nurgle

Espern surveys the area beyond the lift

Pious Vorne summons the strength of the Emperor to fight the forces of Chaos

Taddeus & Amallyn confront the Cultists of the Abyss

Janus confronts Mallex
Setting this up though reminded me that many of the tiles are 2 sided, so a good third of the terrain isn’t out, and the board is crowded even without the Ambull, Guardian Drones, Zoat and the Escalation explorers… so I resisted the urge to buy more minis and bought another set of game boards. Later on though, Mrs gobert expressed an interest in a Bill & Ted board game so I bought that and it’s expansion, which will give me about 15-20 minis to paint up! Still, with all of this BSF terrain I’m well ahead of my purchases for the year so I’m feeling good so far!

Thanks for looking and keeping me going to 1000 pics!

Lot of great stuff happening! Love the next squad of marines getting their paint, but the BSF terrain still kills it. I actually liked playing on the normal tiles, but I will sigh a bit the next time we play a round (whenever that may be) and envy you your collection - but in a good way
And great action shots to round out the 1.000th upload to the gallery!

Hehe, she’s probably would use some derogatory tone for him, and who can blame her for leaving him out of the foxhole?
monkeytroll wrote:Everything looking good, some great shots of it all 'in action'

Thanks monkeytroll, the action shots were fun, but I really should get a better backdrop for them. That might have to wait until I build storage for the other minis and I can build a whole diorama storage solution for BSF… might take a while though!
Gwyn chan 'r Gwyll wrote:All put together, that is absolutely stunning! The way it was always meant to look.

Thanks Gwyn, I’m well chuffed how well it all fits together

And tonight I’ve stayed up WAY too late finishing the corridors and rearranging my display cabinet to show more of the BSF stuff off. No pics of the latter, but here’s the former;

Which brings me to the end of the BSF terrain for now. At some point I will get the terrain for the expansions. After that I might rehash some of the tiles to create wall sections as a backdrop for the diorama that I eventually want to make.

Void Panther service will resume next week.

Thanks for looking!
