.... and adopts the 1 special or heavy for a 5 man battle squad and 1 special AND 1 heavy for a 10 man squad... how are people's armies going to change? Gone willbethe the 6 man las/plas. What will you replace it with? What is more valuable, the las or the plas? if you go with plasma does this open up the uses of cheaper rhino transports? Let me know what you think. ender502

Yes, I will build an army that consists entirely of 5 man squads with a single Plasma Gun and 30 point Rhinos. When one Rhino falls two will take its place.

I can't confirm as I'm still waiting on my DA dex, but I thought it was a 5 man gets a special ONLY and you needed a full 10 man squad to get access to a heavy. Those can then be broken down to 5 man squads.

That's right, you only get a heavy if you buy 10 marines. Which works out fine because you split the squad into a heavy weapon squad and a special weapons squad, throw the plas in the rhino and rush it forward while the las squad hangs back and freems something heavy.

Codex marines will go partly the same way if there is a redux. Prices for weapons will change However you will still get two heavy weapons in terminators etc. GW has stated that the rules changes are for DA, however the price changes could be for everyone. ods and assault cannon should go up in price, rhinos multimeta bikes and heavy flamers down. The only rule I expect vanilla to get are combat squads as an option if you have ten marines with a veteran sergeant.

With the loss of a 2nd heavy weapon in the term squad, combi weapon options for the vet sarge would be nice.
Vet sargents in squads that will just stand back and shoot could use a stormbolter.

Maybe they'll copy the Chaos Codex and give the Vet Sarge for free with 10 man squads.

Or the Chaos codex will copy what is going on in the DA codex.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby. |

Wow... if every SM list had 35 point rhinos, I think orks and guard players might get a little irate. I'm not saying it isn't appropriate--vehicles are death traps, except maybe the eldar wave serpent and falcon... I am saying that it suddenly makes the chimera seem very overcosted, especially given the squishies it's transporting. I personally like the idea of max squads, though sometimes the easiest way to fit in a 1500 pt list is to drop a marine or two, rather than lose those termie assault cannons or that spare heavy bolter... hard to say. At least it brings rules and fluff into better harmony.

I don't believe Chimeras are overcosted. You don't use them to transport squads, rather as IFV's...Light tanks.

The Chimera is overcosted. It needs to be AV11 on the sides to be right. BYE

The Chimera is overcosted. It needs to be AV11 on the sides to be right. I'd buy that for a dollar! (The Chimera is fine, in context, but the dirt-cheap BS 4 Razorback does make me jealous.)

Then why are you letting it get shot in the side? The only problem I see with it is podders really, and they usually would have juicier targets to go after.
