As previously mentioned we may or may not, have Death Riders of Krieg on display, or sightings of a completely new super-heavy tank in the Forge World Design Studio. Right behind you...

The picture makes it look like a twin-linked conqueror cannon (except a bit longer than normal) and is that a twin-linked hvy stubber mount under it?  Interested to see what it will turn out to be...

Rats... thought I was the first to post this.  Ah well.

Hopefully someone will have a camera.  Yes, that's a twin linked heavy stubber.

Looks like a Stormhammer to me too and sure to be festooned with all sorts of twin-linked battlecannon goodness. I just wish FW's castings weren't such crap as their sculpts are quite lovely.

You really think they'd do a Stormhammer? It really seemed to me that GW had abandoned that tank years ago and wasn't looking back. Sort of like the Squ*ts.

Didn't the Death Korps have some kind of tank named after some Jerry? Sigmund or somesuch? It does look like a Krieg guy in the pic.

GIGGLES! I'm excited!

(in other news- sorry I've been absent- it's the end of the semester crunch and I've been writing lab reports for the last few weeks... AND my grandma just died. So I'm pretty busy- I'll have lots of attention to heap on Dakka when exams throw my broken body to the wolves...)

The casts are pretty good now Nyarly. I haven't seen a miscast piece in over a year.

It's a light tank, I think.

Oh please let it be a Stormhammer. After the Stormblade, the Stormhammer is my fav super-heavy. So many battlecannons!

I wonder if they'll arm it correctly (ie. 2 TL-Battlecannons, 4 TL-HB sponsons each w/a Lascannon Turret on top). And then there's the hull weapons.

Well a Stormhammer never had Lascannons in EPIC, only the battlecannons and lots of bolters. However it was significantly better armoured all around than a Baneblade and had all around arcs of fire.

Anyway I really hope it´s a Stormhammer Lets stay tuned! Looks great so far!

I would love it if FW made a Shadowsword varient with two Earthshaker cannons. semi-mobile indirect goodness.

I could have sworn the Stormhammer had 4 turrets ... with 1 or 2 short-barreled battlecannons each.

I think I still have the model around here somewhere, but it's hard to keep the lesser superheavy variants straight.

Hurrah, just what the game needed, yet another superheavy tanks... Seriously, FW appears to have all the originality of a whelk. C'mon, IG has five superheavy tanks and two titans already, do something else, for crying out loud.

Light vehicles, maybe? IG staff cars, civilian transports or even *gasp* races other than IG?

The supply does not get to make the demands.

It's all about the tanks.

They did bugs for a while, now they're doing guard. They'll do something else later, so just wait it out; you'll get different toys soon enough. And I thought everyone complained about marines always getting new stuff, this is a first that GUARD get "too much".

Considering the amount of Traitor stuff they just put out I'd hardly call it BS. And besides, what OTHER army has traditional tanks? Eldar sure don't... neither do Tau. The guys at Forgeworld are and always have been traditional Armour enthusiasts. So yeah... they make stuff that they're into more often than not. It's not like other armies haven't gotten their share (uh... MANTA???!!!).

How can anyone complain about more Super Heavies? They're awesome. And if it is a Stormhammer... wow...

Whatever tank it is it seems to have the ideology of quantity over quality. Two concorer cannons and heavy stubbers? Either this tank will be cheap pointswise or it will have TONS of low strenth weapons for infantry killing.

Should we start a pool to see how long it is before someone asks when FW is going to finally do a Imperial Armour: Orks?

Anyway, people forget that Chaos is a big part of IA5 and 6. And that includes new daemon engines!!!

Wow, H.B.M.C. happy about something from GW? Dude, I need to take a picture of my computer screen.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

Here is a picture of the original Stormhammer loadout. Compare it to the Baneblade model please. This could be read two ways.

2x TL battlecannon and 4x TL heavy bolters

This fits the orginal gaming profile of lots of bolters to back up the cannon.

But if you look at the sponsons the bolter firepower were in fact bolters in gunslits under the sponson and the gun atop is a lascannon.

2x TL battlecannon, 4x lascannon, 4x TL heavy bolter

Frankly I think the second loadout would be a little harsh.

One word: Land Battleship.

I guess in trench warfare you'd want one of these. I wonder it is going to come with flamers?

Any pics yet from the FW open day?

Well, I just got back from the Forgeworld open day. Tragically, I didn't have a camera with me, so no pics. Judging by the number of people with cameras however, it wont be long before they surface.

The new Super Heavy is the "Macharius". At £85, it's a little smaller than a Baneblade, but features a turret with Twin Linked Battlecannons, Twin Linked Heavy Stubbers on the hull, a pintle mounted heavy stubber, and two Heavy Bolter sponsons. I was also informed that a version featuring two vanquisher cannons is also in the works.

A second new tank unveiled was the "Malcedor" (Probably spelled that wrong). Very much in the style of WW1 tanks, this is the rebel guardsmen's main battle tank. Outdated, it was retired from Imperial use many years ago, but the rebels are keen to use anything they can get their hands on. It features a hull mounted Demolisher Cannon, and no less than 6 heavy bolters mounted at various points around the body.

Other bits and pieces:

Rebel Guardsmen's Leadership is variable - D6+4 every time they have to take a leadership test. The rebels have a side theme of randomness, to remind the player that they are controlling a rag-tag bunch of forces.

Death Corp Rough Riders will be £50 for 5

To date, 20 Tau Mantas have been sold.

IA5 includes a section on the Dark Angels.

The whole point of FW is to produce cool looking kits that aren't really necesary in the Game or that don't work well in a game context. Who cares if they aren't practical? Who cares if they are not point cost efficient?

FW tanks are to build convert and paint, no one buys them to play with.

And as for these "another super heavy" complaint, why the hell not? The original Super heavies are all very old now, and if you hold them up to more recent large kits they show their age. A newer more updated Super heavy is more than welcome. It was to be expected that Krieg got their own super heavy (we can harldy count the gorgon its only an APC). Krieg upgrades were a welcome addition but not really enough. A new Krieg inspired tank is what I've been waiting for for ages.

Why are the books called Imperial Armour? Because FW love tanks as do most FW modellers and collectors.

I only have two complains about GW:

1. Most of their rules are overcosted for their in-game effectiveness.
2. They don't make stuff fast enough! Damn I want IA5 & 6 already!
